Freeper Research Project: Freeper personality tests
Jung Personality Test ^ | February 23, 2006 | Alamo-Girl

Posted on 02/23/2006 9:20:32 AM PST by Alamo-Girl

Would you like to learn a little more about yourself and your fellow posters on Free Republic? If so, you might enjoy this Freeper Research Project.

It began on another thread where people were testing themselves for “nerdiness”. Great fun was had by all.

Along the way, Freeper patton posted a link to the Jung personality test.

What an adventure! I took the test for the first time and found out I am an INFJ (I=44, N=75, F=25, J=25).

Because we were sharing the results of our tests on that thread, I was pleasantly surprised to discover three other Freepers with the same personality type. And, naturally, being curious – some of us went to yet another link to find out what the code means and what famous people are INFJs:

Type Logic

The strange part is that INFJ’s are the smallest in the general population, but among those posting on the thread, INFJs were in the majority. Does that mean that INFJ’s are drawn to Free Republic or to those kinds of tests, or are more willing to discuss such things?

At any rate, it is a delightful musing about this forum, the posters we are drawn to (or against): does the Jung personality test have anything useful to say to us?

If you are interested or perhaps would just like to have some fun, take the test and check out the results. And if you’re willing, post your results here on this thread so that we can all “compare notes”.

The results so far:

INFJ: Indy Pendance, Knitting a Conundrum, Grey-whiskers, Alamo-Girl

INTJ: John O (67,62,25,67), hosepipe (11,50,19,56), Cyclopean Squid (44,100,62,56)

INTP: marron

ENFJ: .30Carbine (1,50,75,22) , phantomworker (39,57,40,12)

Hi Alamo-Girl! I finally had a chance to take the test. Turns out that I'm an INTP, along with Socrates, Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton, Rene Descartes, and Tiger Woods.

And marron! :^)

Go figure! Thanks for the ping to this intriguing test!

Thank you so much for taking the test! I just knew we would be amazingly well-matched on the test results - my daughter is INTP too!

I just saw this tonight and took the test. I am "ISTJ", 78-25-1-78. I am a lawyer. I'm sure it's too late for me to be added to your tables, but in case you want the information, I thought I'd send it to you.

Interresting, I'm an ENFJ, like Reagan and Lincoln and King David. Awesome company, especially as Reagan and Lincoln are two of my top few heros in history. I am disturbed to have ANY psychological similarities with Orahwinfrey know it all Queen b***h of the universe and Kirstie Alley, the wacko scientology airhead. But overall, that was neat.

I'm an MBTI administrator, and I'm so disappointed to have missed this entire series of threads! Will you please ping me for any future discussions? Thanks!

By the way, I'm an ISTJ, with clear to very clear preference strengths.

If you ever want a few extra pieces of data, here are mine.

According to this one, I'm an INTP with strength preferences of 89, 38, 75, and 11. That's probably a pretty good fit for me. My career is corrosion and materials engineering, and again, the INTP is probably a good fit for what a corrosion engineer does.

For instance, my field is less about making calculations and basing results on a simple calculation. Instead, I must look at different kinds of evidence and construct a hypothesis that covers that evidence. I then have to find a solution, and the best solutions don't always pop out easily from the numbers. Because of these things, a corrosion engineer needs a stronger "N" than most engineers. Of course, engineers tend to be "T" types, and I'm probably something of an exception as an engineer who is a "P" rather than a "J."

Hi A-G =

Long time no see; hope you are well.

Just ran myself through and found that it seems reasonably accurate, to my surprise. I don’t believe in much of the -ist/-ology psych introspection; more from the “how can we change you to be better-living-through-chemistry” than from the “this is you / live with it!” Never-the-less, I am an ISTP.

According to the Jung Career Indicator™, an ISTP career is best in Computer Programming, Engineering, Technology Education, or Mechanics/Automotive Repair. Well, my vocation hits all of those — Mainframe Computer Installation and Maintenance.

Famous ISTP’s include President Zachary Taylor, Charles Bronson, Tom Cruise, James Dean, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, Keith Richards, Charlie Yeager, Frank Zappa.

Are you keeping a FReeper list? Just curious who else I team up with. Then again — maybe its best if I don’t know! ;^)
