My fellow Freepers:
I need your help!
As many of you already know, I ran for Congress in New Yorks 12th CD in 2004. As part of the experience, I became one of the principal subjects of a documentary being filmed on the Republican National Convention being held in the city that year. As a result, I had a camera follow me around during my campaigning in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan, to the convention at Madison Square Garden, to various meetings and events of our NY Young Republican Club, to my uncles house in Staten Island, and even to my barber.
This weekend, AUGUST IN THE EMPIRE STATE will be debuting at the 13th Annual New York Underground Film Festival. Screenings will be at 5:15PM on Saturday, March 11th and 1:00PM on Sunday, March 12th. The Festival website is http://www.nyuff.com/2006. The address is Anthology Film Archives, 32 Second Avenue (at Second Street).
I will be stepping into the lions den on Saturday, ready to face the questions of one of the largest amalgamations of left-wing radicals in city. Therefore, I urge of my all of my fellow Republicans and conservatives to come out and support me. I promise that you will not be disappointed and may even see a lot of familiar faces in the documentary. Cameo appearances include Stuyvesantown District Leader and State Assembly candidate Frank Scala, NYYRC Chairman Robert Hornak, former Congressman Rick Lazio, and even members of Brooklyns NY Ghettos/Crazy Pistons motorcycle club.
I sincerely hope that you will be able to attend and show the Festivals attendees that although they may come from underground, we definitely do not.
Best regards,
Paul A. Rodríguez, President - New York Young Republican Club, Inc.

Good luck to you. May I ask...have you seen the film? Is it flattering?
If all goes well with my current round of interviews, you will be seeing me sooner rather than later at NYYR events.
I look forward to seeing the documentary in question.
Thank you! Yes, I have seen it. It was screened privately for a group of friends and colleagues of the directors and amazingly enough, they found me more sympathetic than the leftist activist who is the other subject of the film. :-)
A huge pat on the back and kudos to you in all your efforts.
Bump.
I haven't seen the pictures, I don't know who the leftist activist is, but I'd bet my life savings you are more sympethic than he! Good luck!
I admire people like you who do the work instead of sitting around and complaining. Thank you Sir. And, best of luck.
Best of luck, Paul. I'm sorry that I'm on the opposite coast.
Great to hear from you again! Sorry I can't be in NYC this weekend, but I'll be happy to ping some more FRiends from the Tri-State area to this thread. :o)
Please ping your NYC list here... thanks.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
