4 CORNER FReep #46 at Walter Reed, March 3, 2006
3/8/06 | PleaDeal

Posted on 03/08/2006 6:41:50 PM PST by PleaDeal

On March 3rd, we held ALL FOUR CORNERS of the main gate at Walter Reed for the seventh week in a row for FReep #46. The Pinkos are still holding their “vigil” waaaaay down the block and the wounded warriors and their relatives do NOT have to pass close by them to enter or leave Walter Reed Army Medical Center. We had another great turnout of FReepers and friends from the DC Chapter and beyond despite the freezing wind.

The honor roll of those hardy enough to attend (lurkers are marked with an asterisk*):

Albion Wilde, Bill* from MD, BufordP, concretebob, Coop, CindyTrueSupporter, Danang68*, Doctor Raoul, Dustin10thMountain, Fraxinus, iMacMan, IraqiKurd, Jack Deth, Justanobody, Kristinn, Navy Wife*, PleaDeal, StayTrue, tgslTakoma, Tom the Redhunter, trooprally [Mr & Mrs], WarriorNurse, and a handful of shivering but boisterous conservative young'uns. If I missed someone, please throw a brick at me in the comments!

We had coffee, hot chocolate, and tea on site that tgslTakoma graciously provides every week, and Doctor Raoul brought fresh baked Philly preztles! Despite having this great canteen, we were blown away by the thoughtfullness and generousity of the family of a wounded warrior.

We were visited by a couple of wonderful ladies and a young boy who brought us cups and cups of cappuccino, coffee, cocoa and doughnuts; and they thanked us for being out there for the soldiers in WR, and we thanked them profusely for the warmth! They were at WR to be with their husband/brother/uncle, Daniel from Ohio (4ID), who was seriously injured in 2003. He had plates put in his arm and he is going to have another surgery on Monday.

The Angel in the red jacket was incredibly nice. She asked us to sign the back of her T-shirt so she could give it to her brother after his surgery. As tgslTakoma said on the last AAR, "Please pass the word along to folks you know to remember Daniel from Ohio (4ID) in their prayers."

A bunch of us enjoying our wonderful gifts.

Coop and iMacMan holding down the Northwest corner.
Concretebob's Marine Corps flag was waiving briskly all night.

More flags whipping in the early evening.
Right: Tom the RedHunter. I think that smile was frozen in-place.

Above: CindyTrueSupporter, Jack Deth, and Concretebob.

At left: the indefatigable tglsTakoma!

Dustin10thMountain taking a respite from the wind.

A couple of wild and crazy guys. Concretebob and IraqiKurd started off the evening in the "spirit".

Danang68* and Trooprally [Mr.] manning one of the terrific banners Albion Wilde made.

Doctor Raoul holding down the flag on the SE corner.

Why are we out here freezing? What keeps these people coming back week after week, month after month, for almost a whole year? How could anyone stay motivated to jump in the car/truck after work every Friday night, drive for hours in terrible traffic, just to stand on a D.C. street corner holding a sign and a flag no matter what the weather is like?

Because it's the least we can do for these guys.

Code Pink continues to have its little "vigil" despite not having anyone to look at them. They managed to gather 8 bodies to at least make a showing.
Meanwhile, waaaay down the block... Pinkos appeared with a novel, new sign... and this poor, elderly woman in a wheelchair. They've been abusing this senior citizen for several weeks by exposing her to the harsh elements and to Perry's awful serenades.

This Friday may produce a lot more moonbats. Kristinn and Spiff attended a propaganda event presented by CodePink on Tuesday night from which Spiff gave quite a report on the creepy, hypocritical behavior of our antagonists.

After it was over, Kristinn and I went up to speak with Gael, Allison, and Jodie - the head Code Pinkos. She asked what we thought. Kristinn replied that he couldn't say what he felt because we were in a church. I responded, "Good show. It was very well executed." You'd think that I had slapped the Pinko. She was taken aback that I would express the obvious about their well crafted propaganda stunt. She said, "You don't think that we told these women what to say, do you?" Kristinn, always quick with the comeback said, "No. The Baath Party trained them well enough." I expressed a question about the "diversity" of the women in the presentation and asked why there were none of the Iraqi and Kurdish women who are grateful that we have freed them from a brutal dictator, helped them form a Constitution, and given them the freedom to vote. She blew off my comment and shoved at us the traitor mom who is dishonoring her son's service and memory. That conversation was like having a rational debate with a middle-schooler. She ran away after a minute.

Fearless FReepers continued to confront the moonbats today. tgslTakoma FReeped the Iraqi Embassy and the White House to the consternation of Sheehag et al:

I didn't get many photos, and only a bit of video, too. Short report: Kristinn, I and our friend Nofel were at the Iraqi Embassy to greet Medea Benjamin, Gael Murphy and Cindy Sheehan as they delivered their manifesto to a representative of the government of Free Iraq. As Cindy Sheehan approached the Embassy Gate to deliver the papers, Kristinn opened up on them with his booming voice, chiding Cindy Sheehan for marching with a group that is funding terrorists who are killing more American soldiers. Sheehan was stunned by the sight and sound of counterprotesters.

Cindy Sheehan, Medea Benjamin and all the rest of the usual suspects will be sure to use the opportunity to fill the ranks of anti-American freaks lurking down the block from Walter Reed's main gate, so please come out and show your support for the GOOD GUYS!

Injured Walter Reed patients, including amputees, and their families have repeatedly told us how important it is for us to be there to counter Code Pink and their ugly anti-troops agenda.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag... who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag... who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Were it not for the brave... there would be no land of the free.

This sign was supplied courtesy of US FlagWaver.

Let's help our wounded heroes maintain a positive attitude. We absolutely must keep the pressure on Code Pink and keep showing the wounded troops at Walter Reed that Code Pink doesn't speak for the nation. Even Cindy Sheehan thinks it's wrong to demonstrate at a military hospital. (See Kristinn's post "Cindy Sheehan: Protests at Military Hospitals Out of Bounds (Attn: Code Pink and Veterans for Peace)".

Can you give up next Friday night at the movies to support troops who've given up limbs for your freedoms? Will you?

This FReep is rewarding, fun, and important for our troops and our nation. So come on out and make some new FRiends and thank some real Heroes!

For those of you in the DC area, we still need some additional FReepers to join us for FReeping Code Pink every Friday night, until further notice, starting at 6:30 pm and until about 9:30 pm. How about coming out this Friday? You can join us in progress if you can't make the beginning of the event.

Come help us fill All 4 Corners

Can you sacrifice an evening to honor the much greater sacrifice that the troops are making for our freedom?

As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.

Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave. at Elder St., NW

Patriots have all four corners of that intersection with Protest Warrior having the permit for the two corners on the West and Free Republic DC Chapter having the permit for the two corners on the East.

On street parking is usually easy to find. Location is about 6 or 7 blocks from the Takoma metro station and is walkable, but it is best if you get a ride. If you want a ride, FReepmail tgslTakoma and/or BillF (assuming his computer comes back to life), preferably with your cell phone number as far in advance as possible. We'll do our best to arrange a ride from the Takoma Metro station for you.

The weather was awesome. I was a little late because I was dumb enough to use that parking lot you all call the "Beltway". I've never seen so many stupid drivers massed in one place.

When I got to Walter Reed, all the FReepers were there, the signs were up, the huge MOAB banner was flying along with the smaller banners. All 4 corners were manned by FReepers with their patriotic signs and American flags. It was a beautiful sight since the last time I was here in October of last year the Pinkos had the two corners across the street and now all 4 corners were held by real Americans supporting the troops.

Many FReepers admitted that I may not look all that much like Karl Rove anymore because of my dramatic weight loss since the last time I was here (54 lbs) but they called me Karl anyway. It was great meeting everyone again. I also got to meet Joshua Spaulding and his dad.

I pulled out my little bullhorn, plugged it in to my MP3 player, and cranked out a few patriotic tunes like "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue", "Iraq and I Roll", "Proud to be an American", "Battle Hymn of the Republic", and "Mansions of the Lord" while holding a "We support the troops and their mission" sign.

Then I saw the Pinkos down the block with their pitiful demonstration designed to demoralize the troops while pretending to support the troops. I saw Iraqikurd and BlackRepublican head down the block to give them a piece of their minds. I joined them as it was so difficult for me to hold my tongue Tuesday night at their Baathist propaganda rally in D.C. and I had a few things I wanted to say to them about that.

I joined the two FReepers and we stood directly across the street from the Pinkos. We all gave them a bit of hell about their lies, their donations to terrorists in Fallujah, and such. One large woman came across the street to insist that they had a permit for both sides of the street, even though they weren't using the side we were on, and that we would have to move off. I moved about 25 feet to some imaginary line by a tree while the other two guys held their ground. Princess, the girly-man pinko who wears a skirt or something came over too. Iraqikurd and BlackRepublican engaged them in debate and the large woman kept trying to shoo them away. I blasted the Pinkos with a few choice comments and chants for a while and then got out my toys.

Iraqikurd and BlackRepublican were still holding their ground and had challenged the Pinkos to produce their permit which said that they held both sides of the street and that we could not be there. Some guy said he would go and get the permit, but never returned. Seeing that they could produce no legitimate claim to the side of the street we were on, I rejoined the two other FReepers and carried on.

I pulled out my portable DVD player and then queued up a video taken by the Fedayeen Saddam chronicling their own torture and killings of political prisoners during Saddam's brutal reign. I held the DVD player up in one hand and invited any of the Pinkos who wanted to see the truth of who they're supporting with their demonstrations and propaganda stunts to come across the street and view the video. None would come over. As each gruesome event happened on the DVD, I would call across to them what was happening and chide them for sympathesizing with the subhumans who were committing these real atrocities. I condemned them for wanting to end the war early, before every last one of the bastards who engaged in the torture and murder depicted on the DVD was found and killed. I showed a video which showed the thousands of Kurds killed in Halabjah when Saddam Hussein attacked them with weapons of mass destruction. Princess said something about the chemical weapons being sold to Iraq by the United States. I countered that it was a lie to pretend that Saddam murdering his own people was in any way the fault of the United States. I said that just because we at one time did not consider Saddam an enemy doesn't mean that we should give him and his armies a pass for the atrocities they committed and the threat that they present to the world.

Perry pulled out his guitar and played the tired "Down by the Riverside" tune. I sang my own lyrics, "We're going to shoot some insurgents, down by the riverside" and such.

Then I went after their signs claiming that they support the troops. One sign said that they love the troops. I detailed some of the things that were said at the Code Pink event on Tuesday night. I asked them how they can claim to support of love the troops while just a few days earlier their organization was claiming that U.S. troops were committing atrocities in Iraq, they were intentionally machine-gunning civilian vehicles carrying families, bombing hospitals, and beating or assassinating doctors and other health care workers. I told them that the only troops that they were supporting with their demonstration in front of Walter Reed were the remnants of Saddam's Fedayeen and the insurgent terrorists who are maiming and killing U.S. troops. I reminded them that their organization had given over $600k to elements in Fallujah and that the money most certainly made it into the hands of those who are maiming and killing the soldiers that they claim to support.

Gael Murphy, the traitor, and another Pinko walked up the block to talk to Kristinn about our presence there across the street from them. Some Pinko guy, an older man, crossed the street and walked directly to me. He asked what I thought I was accomplishing. He asked if he yelled at me to change my mind on gay marriage if it would work. I told him that the difference was that I wasn't just telling them to change their minds, but I was engaging them with the truth and that their reaction to that truth was up to them. That there were likely some people there with his group that may not be familiar with the claims made by Code Pink, their history, and such. He told me that I wouldn't know the truth if it hit me as he walked away down the block and left the area completely. Good riddance, loser.

I then plugged the DVD player into the little bullhorn, adjusted the volume to ensure the Pinkos could hear it across the street, but not too loud to disturb anyone much further away, and started playing some pro troops videos such as those available from MoveAmericaForward.org as well as the Thank You America commercial from the Iraqi Kurds.

After I'd played the videos for a while, a blogger named CJ came down and engaged the Pinkos. He asked them why they always said they wanted to stop the war, but he'd never heard them call for stopping the jihad. He really laid into them. He wanted to use my bullhorn, but I knew that things could get out of hand if I let someone else start using the bullhorn. I told him that they Pinkos could hear him quite well if he just raised his voice a bit when traffic was somewhat light. They could and they didn't like what he had to say either.

Apparently the Pinkos didn't like the bullhorn/DVD thing and someone had called the police. Now, a few things about that. My little bullhorn could barely be heard above the sound of normal traffic. A bus or truck going by completely drowned it out. Therefore, I am sure that I violated no noise ordinance. Second, I was careful that my amplified sound was only used before 9pm, which is when the noise ordinance apparently changes on weeknights. It probably goes a little later on Fri. and Sat. nights, but I wanted to be careful. So, two police cars showed up and stopped up the block on the corners where the FReepers were. I didn't want to tempt fate, so I put my toys away in my backpack having already played all of the videos I had a couple of times and I'd already turned off the bullhorn and it was just dangling from the strap over my shoulder.

I walked up the street, back to the FReeper corners, to see what was going on. Two police officers were talking to various FReepers. One said that she was going to "check everyone out."

Check everyone out they did. The officers went down the street to the Pinkos and apparently found that they actually had NO permit. They ordered the Pinkos to vacate the area. So, their stupid trick of calling the police to shut those of us who were engaging them from across the street totally backfired against them. It was a great sight to see the Pinko traitor scum rolling up their banners and signs, packing up, and leaving the area - defeated once again.

I hung out with FReepers on each corner holding the troop support sign. The troop bus came by and we all held up our signs, cheered, gave thumbs up, and such. The bus driver slowed, turned on the interior lights, and many of the troops and family members waved and gave us thumbs up right back.

It was great to meet everyone again and the FReep with them. I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday night away from home. I hope I'm here through the week and can make it next Friday night. I'm heading up to Olney today to participate in the FReep up there.

WOW! What an awesome report on the evenings festivities! I am surprised there was a pinko left standing with the three of you hitting them with the truth. You three are outstanding speakers and debaters.

It was great to see you again and have your participation in supporting our troops. Have fun today...wish I was there. Hope to see you again Friday!

Last night was a "most excellent" night!! Warm weather and several conversations with Code Stinkos, and again NO permit for Code Pink.

First, the police were called because someone had a loudspeaker at WR last night and someone called the police. After they checked our permits, which we had on site, the police went down to Code Pink. It was like the heavens opened up and a ray of light shown down on the support the troops groups. Code Pink again could not produce a permit for their area. The police told them to disperse - 10 minutes earlier than they normally do. (Disclaimer - this is second hand, so hopefully concretebob, Kristinn or tgslTakoma can correct any wrong details).

Second, WO4Man and I were on the southwest corner when two ladies with a small dog walked past us, asking to look at our signs. It was quickly determined that they were from the "Hippies Stink" group. They then proceeded to the WR's main gate. After 5 minutes or so, they came back. As in the commercial where 'grey beard' didn't get the girl - they were "REEEJECTED!!!" entry to WR.

On the way back to the Code Pink group, one stopped and asked me some questions. She told me that she was from New Mexico for the week visiting. That she saw about Code Pink protesting at WR and while at the protest, she wanted to see if there was a soldier from NM in WR, just to wish him well from a "fellowette" from NM. She was discouraged about not getting in. (HINT - next time not bring the dog with you to the gate).

But I told her it was probably because Code Pink at one time occupied these corners and the guards were skeptical of any walk ups. I also explained that Code Pink at one time had signs that called the troops murders, that they were maimed for a lie and that Code Pink had flag draped coffins on the corners before we got our permit for the corners. I also told her that the "Better Vet benefits" signs were for MSM propaganda and she should get onto Code Pink's web site to see what they were really about.

She asked if we got into WR to see the troops. I said some of our group know people inside and get in during the day to visit the troops.

She was concerned about why one side of my sign said "Cindy Sheehan did does not talk for us". I informed her that Sheehan only cares about herself. The few small monuments she erected all said 'Sheehan" on them. Sheehan's "support" for the troops is for her own benefit only. I told her that when my brother was killed in Vietnam, my mom helped erect memorials to those soldiers killed in Vietnam. My mom helped with the Vietnam Memorial, and memorials in Wheaton, MD, Kensington, MD, and Utica, NY. She was also National President of the American Gold Star Mothers. That is the difference.

I really don't like using my brother's and mom's memory this way, but it gives me some standing in bringing Sheehan down to what she really is.

The lady, who seemed to join Code Pink this one time, at least had something to think about before she joined a Code Pink protest again.

But the night was not over. Gail Murphy brought the Iraqi women from Thursday night's FReep at Anne Arundel Community College, up to see our support the troops event.

Since I was still on the southwest corner I recognized them as they were walking up to us. When they got there, I stepped up and said Hi to the Iraqi women. She didn't recognize me since I had a different hat on. But once I asked her again about her accusation of the U.S. snipers in the Mosque minuets killing women and children, she recognized me.

When again questioned about the snipers, and that the U.S. troops couldn't even look at a Mosque, her answer that they went up there after we bombed the Mosques. There was no answer to why the biased MSM was not reporting our "atrocities". She also claimed that the new Iraqi government was a American puppet government. I asked why then were the Iraqis risking their lives to vote. NO answer.

She claimed that the U.S. was the reason that the insurgents were in Iraqi. I asked why then were Iraqis being blown up just standing in line to become civilian police, not soldiers, and Iraqis in the public square. NO answer.

Finally, I asked her if she remembers hearing about the baby lion cubs born outside Saddam's son's compound. She nodded yes. I then laid into her that there was a soldier on the other corner (CJ, who just happen to relate to me this story an hour earlier) that his unit was the first go into Baghdad and to enter Saddam's son's compound. He saw human bone remains in the lion cages.

Immediately, Gail M. took the women's arm and started to lead her away. I hope they were leaving because because of my arguments, but it could have been because they were down wind of my cigar smoke, not from my doing, but because God commanded the wind to blow in their direction.

As they were leaving, several FReepers yelled something about 'remember the purple finger'. I'm not sure who it was or exactly what they were yelling. Not being as eloquent as Kristinn, I was making sure I didn't make an argument point that Gail could jump on and stump me, so I was not too aware of my fellow FReepers.

So lesson learned, the northeast MOAB corner gets more vehicle visibility and honks, but the southwest corner is the place moonbats migrate too. Maybe it is for nostalgic reasons since they have not been there for almost two months.

Just need to add that there were three buses that drove into WR tonight, all waving back at us. It was a triple treat.

See you in Olney. Bring your bull horn. No permits in Olney, so feel free to engage the Quakers on there corner.
