Now hear this:

Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.

That is all.

The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

"Bush said on Meet the Press that it was the presidents DUTY to veto McCain/Finegold if congress passed it. He knew what his duty was. He just decided to spit on his duty and his oath of office and sign it any way because it would help his political career."

Just as he thought his gesture of "bi-partisanship" by signing Kennedy's bill would help.

Miscalculations abound.

Then please explain why Dubya signed Ted Kennedy's Education Bill.

You mean, the same bill ted kennesy and the teacher unions now hate.

Thanks for the William Wallace quotes about freedom. Very stirring words, indeed.

He always liked Kennedy's "education" bill. It wasn't a miscalculation. It was the bill Bush wanted.

Yep, I know, but it was a political "miscalculation." AND boondoggle.

I think I'll change "judicious" to "thoughtful" considering the topic of the thread.

Will they round us all up and fine us? This will effect the DU as well.

Don't be silly. It will NOT be enforced against DU or any other liberal forums. This bills is specifically designed to get conservatives, and conservatives will be the only targets of enforcement.

Well, as bad as the Bush/Kennedy education bill was, it doesn't compair to the damage the McCain/Finegold/Bush CFR did and is about to do.

CFR is a direct attack on the Bill of Rights.

Someday soon it will happen. The America that we once knew...will be dead.

Already there.

"It is my understanding that if McCain's new proposed campaign finance regulations for the Internet are adapted, we'll not be allowed to transmit certain political messages over the internet or via email for a period of 30 days prior to primary elections and 60 days prior to general elections."

Are they going to snoop in our e-mail too? Probably are already!

I liked your idea of camping out on Dubya's lawn. Almost everyday there is a new mess in this country from our elected officials in DC. They have forgotten who put them there.

McManiac must be trying to put the final nail in the Republican's coffin for 08! He certainly never had a prayer of winning the nomination. Of course his ego won't let him believe that.

Has someone discovered a new drug that has been put in the Senate water that makes them idiots?

I read every single post up to #957, and have yet to see fellow FReeper "holdonnow" pinged concerning this.

I think he could possibly be of some "help" in MANY ways concerning this if he wants to or has the time.

Does that mean that situations like the exposing of Rathergate memos would not be allowed?
