You Cant Buy It
Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! Acts 8:20
A missionary to the people of the Philippines was trying to explain salvation to a wealthy woman, but the woman didnt understand that she couldnt pay for it.
So the missionary gave her this illustration: If you wanted to give your daughter a big, beautiful mansion as a gift, how would you feel if she said, Mother, you must let me help you pay for the gift. You know I work for the mission hospital and dont make much money, but I think I can squeeze out $8 a month.
She went on: Thats what you are saying to God. You want to help pay for what Jesus has already paid for. A home in heaven is a gift. It is an insult to try to help pay for it.
All over the world devout, well-meaning peoplerich, poor, and in-betweenstruggle to understand that Jesus paid it all. Convinced that they have to do something to earn Gods favor, they attempt to pay for salvation as best they can.
We need to understand that when God gave His Son Jesus as a sacrifice, the bill for our sin was paid. For us to try to pay for Gods gift is insulting to Him. Genuine trust is believing that God has already taken care of the payment. We dont need to buy something that has already been purchased with Jesus death on the cross. Dave Branon
Hi Luv W, Thank you!
Thanks for posting Military Monday...my favorite day of the week because we honor our beloved troops all day long!
Hope you have a wonderful week, Rus. I get to meet NYTexan this coming Thursday! Yay!!! For his birthday party in Texas!
You're welcome. I love to contribute to this thread.
That's great! Tell him Happy Birthday for me.
He is a nice guy.
I sure will! I can hardly wait to meet him and the others who will be there, too. It's gonna be quite a gathering in Austin and in Houston. I sure wish you and your Mrs. could be here, too!
Great lesson from God's Word, Rus. Thank you for always being here for us and reminding us whose we are.
Thank you for reminding us again of Amazing Grace and the gift He paid for.
Just beautiful Meg! Thank you for all the beautiful tables you make for us.
You are welcome, Luv. I love Military Monday, too! I love your beautiful prayer and post and say Amen.
I was having trouble with the formatting.
They changed the site where I get Our Daily Bread.
I have to figure out how to do it so it looks like it used to.
But it is my pleasure to bring it everyday!
I know you want it to look good, but the words themselves are what are important to share. So thank you for sharing them with us in any format!
You're welcome, Meg! (((hugs)))
As long as it has the message..we'll appreciate it...I,like LUVW, thank you for Military Monday, too.
Well your both just to sweet for words, Thank you.
One thing we have lost is the links to different verses and the links to reading the Bible in a year.
I'll get it with the help from above..
I hope you get it back because I know that kind of a thing happening is very frustrating. But you always do good and we appreciate you.
