Someone has got to stop being an apologist for 'business owners' who commit felonies on a daily basis.
I say you go first.

I recently discovered a disturbing reality. I received a call fro the Sec. Of State Office (MI) to verify residence for a drivers license applicant who rents from me. I verified then called back the supervisor/manager. It seems that until recently, MI required no proof of anything to get a DL. They had illegal folks bussed in from NJ and other states to get DL's here. Holy shit!!!! Once a DL they can register to vote etc. etc.
We are really in bad shape here. How can this all come about??
Also, friend told recently by INS after hunting her tenants (illegals) that she had better check immigration status. She started doing it and had a complaint foiled against her with the MI Civil Right Commission for discrimination. They told her if she asked Mexican with little English skills she had better as middle class white Americans to prove they are citizens also. I called the Civil Right commission and discussed it. They were adamant. o discrimination based on national origin!!!!!!!!
What a bunch of crap!

Have you written your Congressmen and Senators with those steps? You betcha! But a deluge probably wouldn't hurt.
To: Reagan Man
I suggest ALL Americans call their Congressmen and tell them to support HR4437, the House enforcement only bill that was passed out of a full floor vote (239-182) last December 2005. NO guest worker-amnesty, NO path to citizenship. Secure the borders, punish employers who hire illegals and stop all welfare to illegals. Excellent, Reagan Man! Specifics.
WRITE your Congressmen and tell them to SUPPORT HR4437
We all can do that.

Enforce the laws that exist and seal up the border for our protection.

One other point that would help in enforcing employer sansctions would be to require Social Security and IRS to share information with Immigration Investigators. Require employers to check employees with government database.

WE need to put the Sheriff of Maricopa County, AZ in charge of the entire Southern border.

That's true. Mexican men brag about it to cuckolded American citizen men making less than half that. We don't want American men getting too uppity and increasing the population of US kids with dads. ...fine choices for employment: free and easy American women and foreigners of all kinds. It keeps them in line and keeps the labor pool brimming Huh? Did you just come back from happy hour?

I think the government needs to win the public relations battle being waged on this issue by the enemies of freedom. Here are a few suggestions I'd toss in to that end:
- Make it clear that America welcomes immigrants.
- Thank those immigrants who are legally enjoying freedom on our soil.
- Thank those many would-be-immigrants who are going through the proper legal channels to obtain US citizenship or guest-worker status.
- Make it clear to those right-minded folks that their respect for our laws will be honored and they will not be sent to the "back of the line" in favor of those who have chosen to disrespect our laws.
- Establish an amnesty period of one year for those not here legally to fill out the proper paperwork and get their place in line established. Note that this "amnesty" period is not for establishing citizenship, it is for getting back on the list legally.
- At the end of that year, the law gets enforced as follows: If a detainee doesn't have their place in line established, they are tossed out and not allowed back in ever. Sneak in again and it's jail time.
- If the detainee does have their paperwork in place, well, I'm not too sure about that part yet. I don't work at the CATO institute or the RAND institute, ya' know! Maybe send 'em out nicely, or let 'em stay on some sort of restricted status.
I figure the main idea is to make it clear we do appreciate the presence of folks desiring to make a future in America, and we want to honor those who choose to do so legally, and we will not allow sneaks to cut in line on those honorable folks. I think we could win this war of words and gain the respect of the many ethnic groups in this country who now oppose immigration reform. Maybe.

#2 problem is visa over stayers. I detest those schemers. They are 40% of our illegal aliens
How can that be solved? There HAS to be a way!How about they have to post a 5-10 thousand dollar bond to visit here.
I would love to know how Japan Australia and Germany handle those who try to over stay. We can probably learn from them

They're felons and you're defending them. I don't know who is more despicable, you or them.
Hiring illegals is illegal. What part of that don't you get?

That's what I'm thinking, kerry. There are THOUSANDS of us.
They'll throw out the rants........but civil, strongly stated letters (snail mail), and e-mails, as well as phone calls, are VERY effective en masse.

Could I send more than $300 to some other country?
To: kerryusama04
Once the prevailaing wage demand is issued, and strikes ensue, the demand for work will diminish significantly due to cost. No then all of those willing citizens will line up to work for the prevailing wage. Isn't that what all of the close the border folks keep saying? We will see millions of white folks on roofs, busing tables, mowing lawns cleaning toilets. All of those jobs both blacks and whites are just itching to get their hands on.

How about we actually hold congress to their promise in 86 that THAT amnesty be the last and that they - and the president - honor their own promise and beign to enforce the law? No 'lets be realistic' or 'but its impossible' arguments.
if the voters speak with one voice surely the president and congress would HAVE to listen.

ight work on some but I'm thinking of those large Mexican families where each family member could send $300. Kind of like the Clinton-Gore campaign fundraising. People will find a way around it.

Thank you. Sadly, I haven't seen many positive responses, and I've seen a number of the people I think of as immigration trolls.
That said, what I'd like to see is more direct confrontation of Mexico. If I were a Mexican, I'd be crawling across the Rio Grande too. But there's no reason for this, because Mexico has oil and other resources, a large, hardworking literate population (most of whom are working here), and no excuse for not having an economy. Except that it's technically a socialist state, which means that there is a vast bureaucracy, advancement only from within government, and profit only for people who are already entrenched within the system.
I would like to see a US President hold Mexico responsible. If we have to fund their immigrant health care, etc., then we take it out of foreign aid or trade benefits. If we have trouble because Mexico refuses to repatriate its criminals that we have caught here (one of my kids is police officer in a Western city, and Mexico is NOT cooperative), then we penalize Mexico.
This is not an "immigrant" problem, it's a state problem, but no president so far has addressed it as such.
