No matter how you cut it, being a father, or what now constitutes a Father is getting a whole lot fuzzier, and a lot less difficult..
They, my 5 kids, and 5 grand kids call me, Dad, daddy, old man, pa, papa, pop, and even Father, when I am needed most in my role of family patriarch.. Dad, is the rank, position, title, no matter which you choose, they all are music to my ears..
Everything about being a dad has been the only truly redeeming factor of my existence thus far. However, apparently not everyone sees the meaning of being a dad as something to be proud of, or shares my view of it's rewards.
Lets start by saying that the meaning of fatherhood has, can we say, evolved through the generations.. Even the definition of Father has been diluted, reworked, and somewhat sanitized, as you can see below:
Now, there is something for all red-blooded men to aspire .. a donor ..a SIRE... :(
FATHER
Pronunciation: 'fä-[th]&r, 'f[a']-
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English fader, from Old English fæder; akin to Old High German fater father, Latin pater, Greek patEr
a : a man who has begotten a child; also : SIRE
a : one related to another in a way suggesting that of father to child b : an old man -- used as a respectful form of address
often capitalized :
a : one that originates or institutes <the father of modern science> b : SOURCE <the sun, the father of warmth and light --
: one of the leading men (as of a city) -- usually used in plural
Text: 1 a male human parent <the special relationship that exists between fathers and sons>(and the only definition that has any meaning left in our pop culture...)
a: provider, donor, of the sperm, a male parent of an animal! Whoa!!!
Sorry, I'll take the really old fashioned meaning, maybe because I am getting old, or maybe because I really do understand what a Dad really means to a child (of all ages).. A Dad is the foundation rock of the family, the bedrock of the clan structure, the faithfull advisor, the provider, the alternative viewpoint of familial matters, the principal male character in setting the standards of male behaviors, a romantic hero, a guardian of the peace, a role model, a teacher, an understanding mentor, a strong/soft shoulder.. an easy mark.. a softy.. Dad is cool, calm, collected, and always there when you need him.. good for a twenty, or a tear, or a kiss..
HAPPY FATHERS DAY
Your love of God, family, country (and freepers) always shines through as we read your heartfelt homilies. Sometimes we smile, sometimes we sigh, sometimes we reminisce and sometimes we cry.

Happy Father's Day to all you GOOD fathers out there.
To my own father, I wish you nothing.
A day when I truely feel sorry for the freaking Islamic herd
They do NOT believe God is a Loving Father and on Fathers Day they cannot honor God
Dad must be very hurt by their separation.
Bless you, Carlo...my own dad has been gone for a while now...but sometimes I get a kick in the tush (figuratively) that may be coming from above....
A Special HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
