A HUSBAND and wife arrested in the British terror raids allegedly planned to take their six-month-old baby on a mid-air suicide mission.
Scotland Yard police are quizzing Abdula Ahmed Ali, 25, and his 23-year-old wife Cossor over suspicions they were to use their baby's bottle to hide a liquid bomb.
The theory is one of the reasons security chiefs are now insisting mothers taste babies' milk at check-in desks before allowing them to take bottles aboard flights.
The pair are among up to 23 suspects being questioned over a plot to bring down nine airliners over five US cities, killing thousands of people in the air and on the ground.
The questioning of the group comes as British Government sources yesterday revealed many of those suspects posed as relief workers to travel to al-Qaeda training camps in Pakistan.
It has also been revealed that security services are secretly monitoring "dozens" of fresh plots involving hundreds of suspects which could be unleashed at any time.
One government source said at least 30 priority cases were under urgent investigation.
" All those 30 are seen as serious, determined attacks that will happen unless we stop them," the source said.
Police spent yesterday combing through the Alis' east London housing commission flat for clues.
Cossor took her baby with her to the police station during last week's raids but her son is now being cared for by grandparents.
Cossor's grandfather, Nazir Ahmed, 84, said Abdula had travelled to Pakistan about four weeks ago.
"We didn't understand what the hurry was and why he needed to go," Mr Ahmed said.
A neighbour at the flats where the married couple lived said he would be stunned if claims were true.
"I simply cannot believe he could have been involved in a plot like this. He is religious and seemed to love his family," the neighbour said.
"I would never have dreamed he could have been involved in anything like this."
A family friend of Cossor said she had known the arrested mother 12 years and believed her to be innocent.
"I think it is a case of mistaken identity. The last thing she'd be interested in is terrorism. They are just simple day-to-day people going about their own business," she said.
Police in England have reportedly recovered bottles containing peroxide, including some with false bottoms, from a recycling centre close to the homes of some of the arrested suspects.
It has emerged MI5 agents launched covert intrusions on the homes of some suspects several weeks ago in "sneak and peek" operations to plant listening devices and gather evidence ahead of the arrests last week.
Links between suspects in the jet bomb plot and those behind the London 7/7 attacks have also come to light.
There are reports as many as five of those arrested attended the same terror training camp in Pakistan as two of the July 7 London suicide bombers.
And US intelligence sources said they believed at least two of the suspects had trained in Karachi and met al-Qaeda operatives in the lead up to the 7/7 attacks.

One of the methods the terrs were going to use to smuggle the liquid explosive components was a false bottom in a container.

There are baby bottles available where the milk is actually in a soft pouch within the plastic bottle. As the baby drinks the pouch collapses. The idea being to cut down on gas.
Seems to me it would be easy to insert a toxic liquid into the bottle via a syringe then partially fill the pouch with milk.
Mom could still taste the milk without drawing suspicion to herself.
This is yet another example of why the scourge of Islam should be wiped from the face of the Earth. These subhuman pieces of $h1t aren't worth a half cent. I trust none of them. They should all be forcefully removed from the United States and all other civilized nation and placed in exile in Antarctica.
They aren't having mothers taste baby bottles because they are afraid the babies will be poisoned. They are doing it assuming that if a bottle is really full of explosives the mothers will refuse to drink it which is a way of weeding them out.
Even if some mothers taste the baby bottle, if it has acetone and peroxide, etc., in it, the mother is likely to make quite a face or gag, etc. Another way of weeding them out.

Well, if it's the peroxide, when it foams up in her mouth, the game is up and she doesn't get to blow up the plane. If it's the acetone, it causes nausea, vomiting, gastric hemorage and the game is up then, too. If it's the sulphuric acid, well . . .

None of the components of acetone peroxide (aka 'Mother of Satan') contains any nitrates, hence the plotters choice to use it.
TATP has no nitrogen, just CHO. Thermite, for that matter, has no nitrogen.
Since democratizing their governments a la Iraq and Afganistan may not work--but certainly worth trying, because we are moral people--we will have to move to the next step to defend ourselves. Rather than moving to exterminate them directly I think that first we should try to destroy their religion and show them that their Allah is not all powerful. I mean physically destroy all their icons and buildings. That would truly liberate them. They will provoke this in time.
Haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if anyone has brought up this point. What's to stop them from putting the explosive in a zip-loc bag, putting it into the formula bottle, and then filling up the bottle with formula. They could taste the formula and still bring the explosives on board. I think airlines are going to have to start supplying baby formula to the babies.

"Martyrdom" is seen as a quick way to get to "heaven".
People who feel this way aren't worried about a bad taste, or ingesting a poison, or blowing their kids to bits. Airport workers don't care if they are caught opening doors to secured areas. Airport catering workers don't care if they are caught stowing weapons inside an airplane. They do it all for the will of you-know-who.
There is no way to apply normal, rational rules to these people. They sing religious ditties as they slice heads off. They torture and kill children. They send their own children to be blown up. They don't have DNA. They don't have their same emotions and thoughts as normal people. As some of the posters say, expulsion and sealing the borders is a (partial) solution.
Too much emphasis on the THINGS that are carried on a plane, and none on the PEOPLE who get on the plane.
PEOPLE use the THINGS to commit murder. The THINGS by themselves don't spontaneously blow up.
Of course a SUICIDAL mother will taste the "baby's milk"!! Even if it makes her sick she;s going to die anyway!!
