Under growing pressure from Democrats and aides to former President Bill Clinton, ABC is re-evaluating and in some cases re-editing crucial scenes in its new mini-series The Path to 9/11 to soften its portrait of the Clinton administrations pursuit of Osama bin Laden, according to people involved in the project.
Among the changes, ABC is altering one scene in which an actor playing Samuel R. Berger, the former national security adviser, abruptly hangs up on a C.I.A. officer during a critical moment in a military operation, according to Thomas H. Kean, a consultant on the ABC project and co-chairman of the federal Sept. 11 commission.
Mr. Berger has said that the scene is a fiction, and Mr. Kean, in an interview, said that he believed Mr. Berger was correct and that ABC was making appropriate changes.
The reassessment came as two Clinton aides mounted an unusual attack last night on the motives of Mr. Kean, a Republican and a former governor of New Jersey. In a letter to Mr. Kean, the two aides, Bruce R. Lindsey and Douglas Band, wrote that his defense of the mini-series is destroying the bipartisan aura of the 9/11 Commission, on whose findings the project is partly based. They asserted that Mr. Kean was driven by payments from ABC or his own partisan politics.

TV Movie Miffs Dems
An ABC made-for-TV movie, "The Path to 9/11," has riled the Democratic Party. Democratic National Committee Executive Director, Tom McMahon, blasted the movie, which he has not yet seen, as a bald-faced attempt to slander Democrats and revise history right before Americans vote in a major election. This film would have us believe that Bill Clinton irresponsibly dallied with an intern while the terrorist threat mounted. This kind of misinformation is a cheap, callous political trick designed to divert attention from Bush Administration failures. As Katie Couric pointed out on the CBS Evening News, the war with the terrorists STARTED on 9/11. McMahon observed. Bill Clinton was long out of office on that day and cannot be blamed for these attacks.
Clinton spokesman, Jay Carson, issued a statement questioning the film's depiction of Clinton's record and suggesting that it wasn't a "serious treatment" of the facts. The film says nothing about healthcare, Carson said. Yet, implementing a nationalized healthcare system was a major focus of the Clinton Administration. Further, President Clinton never dallied with an intern. He was mentoring Ms. Lewinski, helping her learn the skills she needed to succeed in politics.
Former Clinton Administration Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, said that although she had requested a copy of the film, ABC had not given her one. But, Ms. Albright said, she has been told by people who have seen it that it It asserts as fact things that are not fact. For one, it depicts me as a decrepit hag and blithering idiot.
Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called the films contention that terrorists attacked America during the Clinton years as ludicrous. This film shows terrorists bombing the World Trade Center in 1993, Pelosi said. Whoever heard of such a thing? The film even has these alleged terrorists bombing embassies in Africa and, get this, a U.S. Naval vessel. Its like a global jihad or something. I know movies often take liberties with the truth for dramatic purposes, but this film goes beyond the realm of credibility into pure fantasy.
In a letter to the ABC television network, the Democratic senate leadership--Harry Reid (Nev), Dick Durbin (Ill), Debbie Stabenow (Mich), Charles Schumer (NY), and Byron Dorgan (ND)threatened to revoke the companys broadcast license once Democrats take back control of Congress. The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airwaves in serving the public interest, the senators wrote. Congress is the judge of whether the public interest has been served. May we remind you that polls show our Party will regain control of Congress in this Novembers election. You would do well to consider this as you weigh how to edit this film or whether to air it at all.

The simple truth is Democrats are politically VERY vulnerable on national security and THEY KNOW IT!!!
They are always pushing the "cut and run" philosophy of dealing with terror and the majority of Americans reject that philosophy after the horrific attacks of 9/11/01.
The movie apparently correctly reflects the "cut and run" philosophy of the Clintons with respect to the terror issue.
"I can't remember, but which one of the networks did a "docudrama" on the Reagans and had Ronald Reagan saying stuff to Nancy, in the privacy of their home, about AIDS and we were supposed to believe that "the watergate man?" was privvy to those conversations. As I recall, the made up conversation was played on TV and the libs didn't care then that the conversation was made up, farfetched, outright lie, etc."
I had forgotten all about that. Here's an article about that particular brouhaha. It was never shown on CBS, but instead was relegated to Showtime. It was only three years ago but, given everything that has happened in the interim, it seems much longer.

Threats of Arkancide?
Except Kean is not a women
..."It will be interesting to see if this becomes a "cut and run" by ABC"...
Sounds like "cut and run" might be a "done deal." They cry "FREE SPEECH," then, they censor according to the most vicious and most threatening voices. Let this be aired in it's fullness and let the American people decide. Common sense and a recent memory of 9/11 unrevised history will guide opinion of people who seek the truth. The liberals have been very successful in revising history through Hollywood..Now, someone wants to throw out some truth and look what has happened..
My God, talk about a case of projection.
Don't forget ... because something else is up besides this so-called outrage they are doing
This is the same stunt the pulled during the 90's
