As many around the country now know, baseball fans in Missouri got more than they bargained for on Sunday night when an advertisement for senate candidate Claire McCaskill ran during the World Series featuring Hollywood actor and Parkinsons sufferer Michael J. Fox (video here). In the ad, a trembling Fox said, "As you might know I care deeply about stem cell research." He continued, "In Missouri you can elect Claire McCaskill, who shares my hope for cures."
Well, the rhetoric is heating up in this important state (hat tip to Drudge). Past and present Missouri professional athletes including Kurt Warner (formerly of the St. Louis Rams), current Cardinals' pitcher Jeff Suppan, Royals' first-baseman Mike Sweeney, as well as actress Patricia Heaton have created an advertisement to run during Wednesdays World Series game (video here). In this one, the aforementioned speak out against Missouris Amendment 2, otherwise known as the Stem Cell Initiative.
Opinion added post facto: I am a huge Michael J. Fox fan, and my dad has Parkinson's. As such, I'm all over the map on this issue. However, I don't see this as being a good time for the Democrats to bring this up in a state like Missouri which would appear to not favor abortion or such research. As McCaskill was polling well against Talent, I wonder whether she needed this peculiar hail Mary. This might end up working against her.
Governor Matt Blunt should drop his support for the McCaskill Cloning Bill. He should say we were going to do this in a bipartisan way but Claire just F'd it all up with the Michael J. Fox attack ad that distorted Senator Talent's record.
The voters of Missouri should vote against Amendment 2 to prevent writing funding for cloning into the Missouri Constitution.
You mean the ad where Fox went of his meds to dramatize his "condition" for the cameras...
Absolutely sick.
Just shows, LIBS will do anything to buy a vote. Sickening for sure! Great acting, Fox!!!!
Does Fox know he's lying or is he naively repeating a script fed to him by manipulative Democrats who care nothing about him or his illness?

GOOD IDEA.
SEND THIS PRONTO TO GOV BLUNT'S OFFICE...
This makes a LOT of sense ... you can be FOR some funding without the absurdity of writing a funding bill into the Constitution WHERE IT DOESNT BELONG.
Of course, what Michael won't talk about is his heavy cocaine habit, which may have brought on the disease, since both affect the nervous system. He would do a lot more good telling teens about the dangers of drug abuse, than promoting this issue.
Isn't stem cell research everywhere? I thought all the controversy was about whether or not government should finance the research, not whether or not it should happen.
Fox: Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me....
Are there any recent filmings of him as really is he ? If there are and they show him more normally let's show them.
But if they tell the truth the public won't vote for the Dem! Stem cell research is ongoing. The part that aggravates the loony left is that, so far, the government doesn't fund embryonic stem cell research.
Go Cardinals!!!
I'm a Red Sox fan, but I've (casually) been rooting for the Tigers. Now that I've learned a bit about Suppan and saw his appearance in the "anti-Michael J. Fox" ad, I'll be rooting for him on Wednesday night! He made an appearance on EWTN?
really is he = he really is...Daaa, I guess it's bed time.
Ah... it IS running during Wednesday's World Series game (with Jeff Suppan pitching). Excellent!
He was on Boston Legal recently. He didn't shake at all.
That's what Rush was wondering out loud on his show on Tuesday... "Was Michael J. Fox duped into doing this...?"
Below is a Youtube link of Michael J Fox not being as jerky as he was in the polictical commercials(i.e taking his medication).
Link.
The clips storyline is kinda of creepy(i.e it's about a "funeral" party for MJF's character). I don't watch Boston Legal but notice at the end of the clip at the dramatic closing where MJF is not jerking around at all.
