I wanted to sit down and write to all of you, once the smoke cleared and I had returned to some semblance of sanity.

Well, that hasn't happened yet, oh, the smoke cleared, but the sanity part remains an open question!

So, I'm not going to keep you waiting any longer to hear from the campaign. Please pull up a chair, and allow me to chat for a while.

The most important thing first, I want you to know that working with you during this campaign has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Whether I met you in person, talked to you on the phone, or we conversed by e-mail, freepmail, or on the many Irey threads. I have been truly blessed to be among so many Proud American Patriots.

Your support, advice, and words of encouragement have fortified my resolve throughout these many months since our campaign began in March.

It is with that in mind, that I would ask you to remain steadfast in your support for Diana, and all fellow Americans who share her traditional conservative values. Our task is not over, and in many ways it is just now beginning.

In the next 60 days, Diana will be conducting an in depth analysis of the campaign. The goal is to identify those areas that need improvement , were opportunities missed , are there alternate strategies that may be more effective if the decision is made to take a second run at Jack Murtha.

It is in that spirit of looking forward that I will conclude my remarks to you. I had a very uplifting conversation with Diana yesterday on this very subject. Her resolve and upbeat nature continues to inspire. She made it clear to me that she will not be content seeing her children grow up in an America that is led by individuals such as Jack Murtha, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, and their ilk. Although she will make no public announcement about her future intentions at this time, it should be noted that she remains in this fight.

This campaign, in my opinion, was a test of her will, her faith, and her courage to go forward in battle again. She has passed this test with head held high, stronger and more determined than ever.

We must remain at the ready, stay together as a team, and be prepared to mobilize on short notice. We may have lost this battle, but the war goes on.

Victory will be ours, so long as we stay steadfast to our principles, and remain determined to persevere.

We were lucky to have Diana oppose Murtha and speak for all of us. I thank her for running.

Count me in her corner if she decides to run again.

And thank you, too, smooth for bringing Irey to us. I never would have heard about the race if you hadn't posted that first thread.

She will be a shoe in next election. The effort to embarrass the President was the primary goal, along with the dumping of conservatism using the MSM endlessly campaigning for the left and bashing the President and the WOT.

I'm glad to hear that she will stay active. We will be there again for her. It hurts me to hear commentators like Rush talk about how the Republicans didn't run on conservative values and I'd respond "what about Irey???" God Bless her for taking on the Murthabeast and Bless her for going to WRAMC and meeting with our outstanding FReepers, there now for 81 weeks and counting.

I wish her all the best, but let's face it... she lost badly. 61-39 is a landslide defeat.

I don't think any sort of in-depth analysis is going to find a way for her to win in this distict as long as Murtha is the incumbent. A shame, but we have to face reality.

This was the first time I ever contributed to a candidate from another state. As a veteran I felt compelled to do so and I am so happy to be able to do something. In another year she would of won this, but the anti-war/anti-Bush momentum was just too strong across the country and even very classy people like Diana had a tough time fighting the storm surge of drive-by media anti-republican news stories of the last couple of months. If she runs again - count on this Washington State Veteran to be there for her again.

How does a 60-40 margin compare to past runs that Murtha's had? Is that closer than the Republican opponent usually runs against him?
