I just want to have a thread to discuss House Rep. Duncan Hunter who is going to be one of our GOP nominees. Seems as if a lot of people on FR are complaining about our choices for 2008 when this great man is going to be in the race as well. I just think he needs to get some coverage and wanted to start this thread.
He is the man conservatives should get behind and I think he deserves his own thread to remind us that we do have a great candidate this time if we'd only realize it.

I don't know - I have never heard of Duncan Hunter before today. I'm just saying that there are a lot of people acting like our choice has already been made for us - and although I like Newt myself personally - I am keeping an open mind on who I will support for the next President. I know one thing, however, I will not be supporting Guiliani or McCain. We conservatives had better get our act together or we will be finished.
And he's from California!! He's been the chairman of the Armed services committee, has plenty of government experience to know what he's talking about, more than Hillary and he would show that in a campaign. I really wish some people would drop this bias because we will end up losing with a name recognition. We are going to need a good campaigner who is willing to fight back. I think Hunter is made to be President and think people need to just check him out in this process to look past the media pushed candidates.
If the MSM is giving favorable press to any Republican candidate it is for a reason.
A PRO ABORTION Giuliani would split the conservative vote, they know it and that is why he has been THEIR (MSM) Top Candidate!
I have to admit not knowing enough about Duncan Hunter to say, one way or the other. At first blush, it sounds as if he is someone I could vote for, should he make it through primaries. I know who Newt Gingrich is, baggage and all, and if he can overcome that baggage, he would have my vote. As likeable as Rudy Giuliani appears to be, I have to wonder what planet we're on, to be seriously considering him as a presidential candidate for a purportedly conservative political party; if he made it through, I'd have to think long and hard about it. Romney is beginning to sound a bit chameleon-like, and I do wonder how the Mormonism will play with evangelicals; from this very early perspective, all I can say about Romney is that I don't think he'll do well, and I wonder how conservative he really is, but I'd vote for him over Hillary. That leaves McCain, for whom I will not vote, and I'm far, far from being alone in this sentiment.

See, a very personable man. He'd connect with the public. I've read many of these stories and the more I've seen of him, the more convincing he is. People need to just watch for him and give him a chance. The GOP would be foolish to let this one get away.

I'm afraid you are 100% correct. I was talking to a flaming liberal acquaintance the other day & was startled by the change in her. She was saying we all need to just get along and both parties need to "work together for change". She was meek & polite about it - not blustering & all up in my face - as she usually is. I actually had to swallow a small amount of vomit that came up in my mouth as I was listening to her.
They've all received their new talking points now. The dims "have found religion" all of a sudden. Hillary's big PR machine is now up & running.
You say that Newt isn't the guy for Presidency in '08, and yet, your "FR name" is gonewt! Where is it that you are cheering Newt to go to?
Just keep an open mind and remember his name in the nominating process. Yes, I believe he is the candidate and is a very strong messenger and will be the best candidate and President.
Yes, he announced back in October that he will be running. I'll make sure I post the campaign site when I'm able to find it because I have to keep reminding people of this great man and that he would be the candidate.
If Hillary picks Evan Bayh as VP, then she'll take Indiana. The surrounding states usually follow Indiana.
The point here is that I can show scenarios that give Hillary the needed votes. I want to see what Hunter will bring to the process. Unfortunately, Hilary will make this about everything but the issues, and we cannot win that way.
I like Hunter, but even a lot of Freepers know nothing about him, let alone the "unwashed masses."
Well said. But while they view 2000 it as an accident, it was more a watershed, that went down to the wire because liberal America was still very strong.

Thanks for the thread .. I am pretty clueless as to who is out there who are GOOD.. we surely here a LOT about all that are "available but flawed" now don't we?
