Kwanzaa: A Holiday From the FBI

by Ann Coulter

President Bush's 2005 Kwanzaa message began with the patently absurd statement: "African-Americans and people around the world reflect on African heritage during Kwanzaa."

I believe more African-Americans spent this season reflecting on the birth of Christ than some phony non-Christian holiday invented a few decades ago by an FBI stooge. Kwanzaa is a holiday for white liberals, not blacks.

It is a fact that Kwanzaa was invented in 1966 by a black radical FBI stooge, Ron Karenga, aka Dr. Maulana Karenga. Karenga was a founder of United Slaves, a violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers and a dupe of the FBI.

In what was probably ultimately a foolish gamble, during the madness of the '60s the FBI encouraged the most extreme black nationalist organizations in order to discredit and split the left. The more preposterous the organization, the better. Karenga's United Slaves was perfect. In the annals of the American '60s, Karenga was the Father Gapon, stooge of the czarist police.

Despite modern perceptions that blend all the black activists of the '60s, the Black Panthers did not hate whites. They did not seek armed revolution. Those were the precepts of Karenga's United Slaves. United Slaves were proto-fascists, walking around in dashikis, gunning down Black Panthers and adopting invented "African" names. (That was a big help to the black community: How many boys named "Jamal" currently sit on death row?)

Whether Karenga was a willing dupe, or just a dupe, remains unclear. Curiously, in a 1995 interview with Ethnic NewsWatch, Karenga matter-of-factly explained that the forces out to get O.J. Simpson for the "framed" murder of two whites included: "the FBI, the CIA, the State Department, Interpol, the Chicago Police Department" and so on. Karenga should know about FBI infiltration. (He further noted that the evidence against O.J. "was not strong enough to prohibit or eliminate unreasonable doubt" -- an interesting standard of proof.)

In the category of the-gentleman-doth-protest-too-much, back in the '70s, Karenga was quick to criticize rumors that black radicals were government-supported. When Nigerian newspapers claimed that some American black radicals were CIA operatives, Karenga publicly denounced the idea, saying, "Africans must stop generalizing about the loyalties and motives of Afro-Americans, including the widespread suspicion of black Americans being CIA agents."

Now we know that the FBI fueled the bloody rivalry between the Panthers and United Slaves. In one barbarous outburst, Karenga's United Slaves shot to death Black Panthers Al "Bunchy" Carter and Deputy Minister John Huggins on the UCLA campus. Karenga himself served time, a useful stepping-stone for his current position as a black studies professor at California State University at Long Beach.

Kwanzaa itself is a lunatic blend of schmaltzy '60s rhetoric, black racism and Marxism. Indeed, the seven "principles" of Kwanzaa praise collectivism in every possible arena of life -- economics, work, personality, even litter removal. ("Kuumba: Everyone should strive to improve the community and make it more beautiful.") It takes a village to raise a police snitch.

When Karenga was asked to distinguish Kawaida, the philosophy underlying Kwanzaa, from "classical Marxism," he essentially explained that under Kawaida, we also hate whites. While taking the "best of early Chinese and Cuban socialism" -- which one assumes would exclude the forced abortions, imprisonment for homosexuals and forced labor -- Kawaida practitioners believe one's racial identity "determines life conditions, life chances and self-understanding." There's an inclusive philosophy for you.

(Sing to "Jingle Bells")

Kwanzaa bells, dashikis sell Whitey has to pay; Burning, shooting, oh what fun On this made-up holiday!

Coincidentally, the seven principles of Kwanzaa are the very same seven principles of the Symbionese Liberation Army, another charming invention of the Least-Great Generation. In 1974, Patricia Hearst, kidnap victim-cum-SLA revolutionary, posed next to the banner of her alleged captors, a seven-headed cobra. Each snake head stood for one of the SLA's revolutionary principles: Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba and Imani -- the same seven "principles" of Kwanzaa.

With his Kwanzaa greetings, President Bush is saluting the intellectual sibling of the Symbionese Liberation Army, killer of housewives and police. He is saluting the founder of United Slaves, who were such lunatics that they shot Panthers for not being sufficiently insane -- all with the FBI as their covert ally.

It's as if David Duke invented a holiday called "Anglika," and the president of the United States issued a presidential proclamation honoring the synthetic holiday. People might well stand up and take notice if that happened.

Kwanzaa was the result of a '60s psychosis grafted onto the black community. Liberals have become so mesmerized by multicultural nonsense that they have forgotten the real history of Kwanzaa and Karenga's United Slaves -- the violence, the Marxism, the insanity. Most absurdly, for leftists anyway, is that they have forgotten the FBI's tacit encouragement of this murderous black nationalist cult founded by the father of Kwanzaa.

Now the "holiday" concocted by an FBI dupe is honored in a presidential proclamation and public schools across the nation. Bush called Kwanzaa a holiday that promotes "unity" and "faith." Faith in what? Liberals' unbounded capacity to respect any faith but Christianity?

A movement that started approximately 2,000 years before Kwanzaa leaps well beyond merely "unity" and "faith" to proclaim that we are all equal before God. "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28). It was practitioners of that faith who were at the forefront of the abolitionist and civil rights movements. But that's all been washed down the memory hole, along with the true origins of Kwanzaa.

Just a reminder to all...that nasty Marxist holiday from hell named Kwanzaa is right around the corner. You may have read this one last year, but you should give it another reading. I am posting this dated yet relevant Ann Coulter column from my burning dungeon to make amends for my earthly crimes against humanity.

Be sure and get your Kwanzaa stamps from the post office! I almost bought a sheet to send out on our Christmas cards (as a joke, to close friends and family who would appreciate the humor).

Where did Anne get the idea that the FBI or any other law enforcement agency helped radicalize the Black activist groups? These groups were lead by people who didn't need any help from outside forces, and the implication is that this was all a law enforcement problem, something that wouldn't have reared it's ugly head without them.

Wouldn't you just love to celebrate a substitute Christmas holiday that was founded by a radical felon? Blacks that buy into this nonsense are buying into something that isn't very flattering to their image at all. The media move to elevate this sorry effort is ill advised.

I slept through Karengas class as a Cal State Long Beach student.

Fortunatly, my 'multicultural' class focused on Asian-Americans, so I only had to hear a general lecture from this guy.

he SLA's revolutionary principles: Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba and Imani

I'm going to go out on a limb and volunteer a whole new set of principles for a whole new fictional holiday:

Umama -- the principle that yo mama is so fat that when she sits around the house, she sits AROUND the house ...
Kujogonnakillya -- the principle that rabid St. Bernards are dangerous animals
Eugenia -- the principle of selective breeding
Pajama -- the principle that loose-fitting clothing is appropriate for sleepwear
Kia -- the principle that inexpensive Korean cars may find a market niche with low-end American buyers
Buumbahx -- the principle that music played loudly on a portable stereo is annoying to subway riders
Armani -- an expensive Italian suit designer favored by crack-smoking (c)rappers who want to camouflage their ignorance with elan.

I think you're right, I haven't seen that much made of it since 9/11, only the usual racial grievance folks at work pay much attention. The same people that join the alternate "black" union and pay dues to an organization that doesn't represent the "bargaining unit", has no say in negotiating the contract or settling local issues, idiots.

A black friend of mine likes to bait the handful of NOI muslims at work with questions about their "yarmulkes" (kufi or muslim prayer caps) and paprikis (dashikis). None of them is going to give Mike a hard time tho', he's a big guy and tough as nails. Also a vet and a church goer.

Here's something I found on the Whitehouse site.

In 2001 the line : "Established in 1966, Kwanzaa represents an African-American and Pan-African holiday . ... ." is included (bold is mine)

In years since, the reference to Kwanzaa's recent invention is missing.
I really wish he would refer to it again.
Tomorrow is about time for this years Kwanzaa greeting.

"Ron Karenga, aka Dr. Maulana Karenga. Karenga was a founder of United Slaves, a violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers and a dupe of the FBI. "

I was at UCLA in '69. The murders were advertised as having happened on the steps of the Sociology Department. No mention of Panthers or US or any color.

Later Angela Davis, UCLA grad teaching assistant, lecturer, was accused as being a gun runner for the Black Panthers who were murdered.

Angela Davis is currently Professor of History of Consciousness at the University of California and Presidential Chair at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

I haven't contributed to the UCLA Alumni Association in 35 years, it all goes to the Wooden Foundation.

"Where did Anne get the idea that the FBI or any other law enforcement agency helped radicalize the Black activist groups?"

The CIA was heavy into "nation building" on both a national scale and an international scale through-out the '50s and '60s. Whether by teaching democracy and helping the peasants to grow stronger in a third-world dictatorship (Chile, Panama, etc...) or help southern blacks gain a foothold against the Klan. Seems to reason, if they (a federal government) want to squash a movement or revolt without starting a war or, in the case of southern blacks vs. the KKK, being seen as raising arms against their own "citizens", you defeat them from within, so to speak.

Each snake head stood for one of the SLA's revolutionary principles: Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba and Imani -- the same seven "principles" of Kwanzaa." - Ann Coulter

From en.wikipedia.org:

Photograph of Patty Hearst in front of
the insignia of the Symbionese Liberation Army,
a seven-headed cobra

And, from Who were the Symbionese, and were they ever liberated?:

"...It all started with Donald "Cinque Mtume" DeFreeze, who was serving a term of five to life for robbery and a police shootout when he was transferred to Soledad prison on Dec. 11, 1972...

-- snip --

...In The Cobra Symbol/The Seven Aims of the SLA, DeFreeze explains the significance of the SLA's seven-headed cobra symbol: "The emblem of the Symbionese Liberation Army is 170,000 years old, and is one of the first symbols used by people to signify God and life." Later on in the manuscript he says, "The seven memberships of our federation are men and women who are black, brown, yellow, red, white, young and old." I guess that being both yellow and old gets you a double membership.

Finally, in The Seven Principles of the SLA, DeFreeze gives the meaning of each head in Swahili, Spanish, and English. You'll recognize these as being the seven principles of Kwanzaa, the African-American year-end celebration, first celebrated in 1966:

  • Umoja-La Unidad-Unity - To strive for and maintain unity in our household, our nation and in the Symbionese federation.
  • Kujichagulia-La Libre Determinacion-Self Determination - To define ourselves, name ourselves, speak for ourselves and govern ourselves.
  • Ujima-Trabajo Colectivo y Responsibilidad-Collective Work and Responsibility - To build and maintain our nation and federation together by making our brothers' and sisters' and the Federation's problems our problems and solving them together.
  • Ujamaa-Produccion Cooperativa-Cooperative Production - To build and maintain our own economy from our skills, and labor and resources and to insure ourselves and other nations that we all profit equally from our labor.
  • Nia-Proposito-Purpose - To make as our collective vocation the development and liberation of our nation, and all oppressed people, in order to restore our people and all oppressed people to their traditional greatness and humanity.
  • Kuumba-Creativo-Creativity - To do all we can , as best as we can, in order to free our nation and defend the federation and constantly make it and the earth that we all share more beautiful and beneficial.
  • Imani-Fe-Faith - To believe in our unity, our leaders, our teachers, our people, and in the righteousness and victory of our struggle and the struggle of all oppressed and exploited people.

What a lovely bunch of coconuts..."

Ooops!

Although posted last WEEK, this thread is based upon Ann's Kwanzaa column from LAST YEAR!

THIS YEAR'S column is slightly DIFFERENT, from www.anncoulter.com

KWANZAA: HOLIDAY FROM THE FBI
by Ann Coulter
December 27, 2006

(NOTE: This is an updated version of a column by Ann Coulter that first ran four years ago in December.)

President Bush's Kwanzaa message this year skipped the patently absurd claim of years past that: "African-Americans and people around the world reflect on African heritage during Kwanzaa." Instead, he simply said: "I send greetings to those observing Kwanzaa."

More African-Americans spent this season reflecting on the birth of Christ than some phony non-Christian holiday invented a few decades ago by an FBI stooge. Kwanzaa is a holiday for white liberals, not blacks.

It is a fact that Kwanzaa was invented in 1966 by a black radical FBI pawn, Ron Karenga, aka Dr. Maulana Karenga. Karenga was a founder of United Slaves, a violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers and a dupe of the FBI.

In what was probably a foolish gamble, during the madness of the '60s the FBI encouraged the most extreme black nationalist organizations in order to discredit and split the left.

Simpson for the "framed" murder of two whites included "the FBI, the CIA, the State Department, Interpol, the Chicago Police Department" and so on. Karenga should know about FBI infiltration. (He further noted that the evidence against O.J. "was not strong enough to prohibit or eliminate unreasonable doubt" — an interesting standard of proof.)

Indeed, the seven "principles" of Kwanzaa praise collectivism in every possible arena of life — economics, work, personality, even litter removal.

While taking the "best of early Chinese and Cuban socialism" — which one assumes would exclude the forced abortions, imprisonment for homosexuals and forced labor — Kawaida practitioners believe one's racial identity "determines life conditions, life chances and self-understanding." There's an inclusive philosophy for you.

(Sing to "Jingle Bells")

Kwanzaa bells, dashikis sell

Whitey has to pay;

Burning, shooting, oh what fun

On this made-up holiday!

Each snake head stood for one of the SLA's revolutionary principles: Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba and Imani — the same seven "principles" of Kwanzaa.

With his Kwanzaa greetings, President Bush is saluting the intellectual sibling of the Symbionese Liberation Army, killer of housewives and police. He is saluting the founder of United Slaves, who were such lunatics that they shot Panthers for not being sufficiently insane — all with the FBI as their covert ally.

It's as if David Duke invented a holiday called "Anglika," and the president of the United States issued a presidential proclamation honoring the synthetic holiday. People might well take notice if that happened.

Kwanzaa was the result of a '60s psychosis grafted onto the black community. Liberals have become so mesmerized by multicultural nonsense that they have forgotten the real history of Kwanzaa and Karenga's United Slaves — the violence, the Marxism, the insanity.

The only principle Kwanzaa promotes is liberals' unbounded capacity to respect any faith but Christianity.

A movement that started approximately 2,000 years before Kwanzaa leaps well beyond collectivism and litter removal to proclaim that we are all equal before God.
