Giuliani Strikes a Note With California GOP Testing the Waters, Former N.Y. Mayor Garners 4 Ovations

SACRAMENTO, Feb. 10 -- Rudolph W. Giuliani came west to learn whether his brand of Republican politics has a chance among party members significantly more conservative than himself. By the time he had received a fourth standing ovation Saturday at the California Republican Party convention, the answer seemed clear.

Equating the U.S. fight against terrorism with the Civil War and the Cold War, Giuliani told about 750 of his party's faithful that failure in Iraq would turn that country into a "massive headquarters for terrorism."

"Having had a job where I didn't have any choice but to make a decision," the former mayor of New York said, "prepares you as best you can be prepared to be the president of the United States."

So in your bizarro world the National Guard isn't service? And how many on your list endorsed Democraps, took money from NARAL and accepted a Liberal Party Nomination?

Excuse me I am not the one living in the bizarro world... and you show yourself for what you are when you resort to such ridiculous comments. You can't defend your accusation so you attack me. That sounds familiar, oh yes now I remember, thats a liberal tactic isnt it?

I said way back on my first post of this thread that Rudy has an abortion, 2A and illegal immigration problem.

Let the record show that FReeper "FreeReign" is a confrontational, argumentative, troublemaker.

No. Let the record show that I think Rudy has three "social issues" problems. Let the record also show that when somebody says that Rudy is liberal on "all social issues", and Rudy is clearly not, let the record show that I'm going to correct that false claim.

That's called being objective.

You should try it sometime.

Let the record show that instead of admitting that you were wrong, you cowardly change the subject by falsely accusing me of being a troublemaker.

Can't figure out a woman with the "motive"..., but for sure, the slayer's hands didn't look very big. If I was the slayer, I might target Erica - she's getting on my last nerve. :^)

You and your fellow abortion lovers will be responsible for many more American deaths than will the koranimals, by a factor of about 1000. What do you think is the most important issue?

Ah, how fast people throw accusation around here. I'm a social conservative pro-life, but I know how it is living in an Islamic country, where abortion is 100% illegal, but so is many of my rights as a Christian.

So, when you say national security is the most important consideration, I agree, but you need to understand that the threat is two-pronged - the "enemies domestic" are just as great a threat as the "enemies foreign".

No argument from me - do you live in a red or blue state?

Yes, I can despise my Canuck imported gubner, leftist senators, even worse congresscritters, but truly realize that they are not the enemy.

It's the folks that empower them.

DO NOT, underestimate how EVIL the average soccer mom is.  They're out campaigning for leftists while their husbands are looking for jobs.

"Did not serve" means no military background at all. Plenty more on the list I havent mentioned, all draft evaders according to you. National Guard is listed if they served.

"Thanks for the report, DKNY! I'll take your word for what was going on, over that of a 15 year old's who is not only biased against Rudy, but who is a child.

Your father is pretty hard core Conservative, I take it. :-)"

Thanks for the shot there.

All I was saying is that just because Rudy was warmly welcomed does not mean his 2008 White House bid is destined to succeed. While certainly many of the attendees support Rudy's bid, not all do. Some were there because they thought he is a great leader and speaker, not because they want him to become the standard bearer of the Republican party.

And that doesn't even count the many CRP members who didn't buy a ticket for the speech. As I said before, at convention functions separate from the speech, I saw as many stickers for other candidates as for Rudy.

So bottom line is that we can't count California for Rudy just yet because he received a warm reception. He certainly has some support, but it is by no means unanimous.

And finally, I'm not biased against Rudy. Do I think he is a great leader? Yes. Do I think he is a valuable member of the Republican party? Yes. The only thing I don't support is him becoming the leader of the GOP.

And about being a child, first of all, I'm actually 16 but haven't had a chance to update my profile, but regardless, it is sad that you would immediately dismiss the comments of someone just because they are under the age of 18.

If you're pro-life, then I'm really confused. Why did you criticize my original post? I stated "How many Americans have been killed by jihadists? Now how many have been killed by abortions?" I was trying to point out that I feel many here are understating the destruction caused by abortion here.

You replied "You are right, Islamic countries outlow abortion completely. Since abortion is the most important issue, it's okay to be a dhimmi."

You're critcism was irrational, and makes even less sense now.

But Janet gave it away!

The woman is blaming Zach for her son's death; though WHY she killed Simone and is going after ALL of the FUSION women is beyond me. So that means that the SATIN SLAYER is either the birth mother ( supposedly long dead ) or the sort of adoptive mother, who is also supposed to be dead.

I'm also VERY sick of Erica and more so, Jack!

But Barbara Montgomery is back, so perhaps things will pick up some, on that front.

OTOH, I am even MORE sick of Babe, who the Satin Slayer got in the last second, on Friday.

Cowardly! LOL

Frankly, you have behaved in a confrontational and argumentative manner that has had nothing but troublemaker written all over it. Whether the "all", in "all the social issues", was in error or not. It did not permit you to go on a mini rampage and NOT answer my original post. You're the one who changed the subject. That was wrong on your part. You still haven't answered my original post on the major social issues I listed.

Posting: "I said way back on my first post of this thread that Rudy has an abortion, 2A and illegal immigration problem."... that is fine, I have no problem with you posting that. But it doesn't get you off the hook.

If you basically agree with me, then why did you start, what amounts to, a mini flame war? That is the mark of a craven troublemaker! LOL

Let's see how he plays in South Carolina and Texas.

-
Rudy would be a shoo in in Texas. He'd get a lot of the independent vote during the primary also, since we don't have party affiliation here until after the primary.

Most Texans have security as their #1 issue. Rudy was loved at the National convention and he'll do in Hillary. No one else can beat the Hillary/Obama Osama team.
