Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

.You’re the guy sponging off Mom, living in the basement, and in no position to be barking out orders,so why are you bothering everyone with your idiotic opinions?

Sponging off mom?

You're sto stupid, your insults don't even make sense. People donate voluntarily to FR.

Now you, you strike me like one of the folks in New York that Rudy wanted to keep federal welfare dollars coming to.

We've so poisoned the atmosphere here that if you're NOT against Rudy, you're suspect. What the hell is that all about?

You still don't get it. If you're not against liberals, then you're suspect here. Rudy is a liberal. How hard is that to understand?

If you were a player, you’d be some big cheese in the CA GOP

Considering the flaming progressive spendaholic liberal that is the current GOP governor, the fact that JimRob ain't a "big cheese" in the CA GOP is a good thing.

....even the most conservative "rank and file" are not aware how liberal he really is...

I do not accept your charcaterization of him as a libetral, but that aside, the rank and file are very aware of his views.

"We're already over our RINO quota anyway."

The RINO herd has needed thinning for some time now. FR is a conservative site for conservatives. Good to see that mission statement being reinforced.

Since we’re on JimRob’s site and it is his private property, I like to use his basic definition of social conservative.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

If you don't want Giuliani, field a candidate who can garner more votes.

Ironically, those who don't support Giuliani get criticized for doing exactly that.

I'm all for allowing Giuliani a shot in the primaries, but he has to earn the nomination, Maggie. That means his liberal views are going to get addressed and hammered on.

All I can say is you have my deepest sympathies. You are brainwashed haters who have no tolerance for anyone outside your little fascist circle.

I have never met a supporter of Rudy--or any candidate--so blissfully uninformed about their own man's political positions as you Katie-O.

Freeper average IQ just bumped up a bit with your departure.

I think the most recent FR poll is the most revealing. Rudy’s support among FReepers is incredibly low and I have a feeling that many of them are FReepers who have departed for WideAwake but haven’t been banned.

Exactly why am I a RINO? I would really like the definition so I can understand.

First of all Miss Marple, I was not calling you a 'RINO', I was responding to EV's comment "We're already over our RINO quota anyway." when I said 'We are NEVER over our RINO quota' --- I assume you mean bag limits?, i.e., I was commenting on the number of liberal-RINOs and other assorted malcontents that have been rightly banished over the past 24 hours.

As you know, RINO stands for 'Republican In Name Only', meaning someone who CALLS themselves a Republican, but has nothing but shifting sand for principles, overeagerness to appease and make deals with DemocRATs, always 'compromising, compromising, compromising', and NEVER standing up and saying "this far, and no further!".

That definition is probably not complete, but that's strictly top-of-my-head for this specific post.

In conclusion, one would NEVER refer to Ronald Reagan as a 'RINO', nor Jesse Helms, nor Duncan Hunter, just to name three great conservative Republicans.

I predict that if Fred Thompson runs, he’ll end up on Rudy’s ticket

If Fred runs he will be on his own ticket, not Rudy's.

Rudy is not YOUR choice, but he IS the choice of many conservatives.

Rudy is not the choice of Conservatives; he is the choice of many conservative Republicans. Big difference.

Conservatives who cross the line to vote R are in fact the true RINOs - 'Republicans in Name Only'.

Conservatives who stick to their principles don't have much hope within the Republican party. It is a center-right (slightly) coalition that supports a wide-range of government programs that violate basic Constitutional tenents.

JR is right to push FR to the right; it's called product differentiation. That being said, I think Republicans should be allowed to continue to post here in the off-chance that Conservatives might help push the partly slightly rightward.
