Prayer Request for my Mother (Implantation Successful! She is now expecting.)

Hello fellow Freepers.

My mother - Kathy, who married her current husband Brian a few years ago, where I was the usher - has been trying to have a child with him.

The first two attempts did not succeed, as the fertilized eggs ended up settling in the Fallopian tubes both times, resulting in miscarriages. They were both very sad about this, and it might be a possibility that her body is too battered from already delivering three children (myself and my two little sisters).

They will be trying one last time next month. My mom will be taking hormone supplements on the 8th of June, to help prepare her body for the fertilized egg. She hopes that the egg will make it all the way to the uterus this time.

This is important because my mom is the first person Brian's ever married, and he doesn't have any children of his own. I can understand the fact that he wants children that he can call his own, that he can call his 'legacy' so to speak (as many fathers on FR might be able to attest to). He's never had a child before, so I hope the third time will be the charm.

In the meantime, I'll pray for them. I hope that you'll all do the same for mom, Brian, and the baby.

This is not their last hope. Many women close to 40 have issues with tubal pregnancies resulting in the loss of a tube. But with IVF, tubes aren't needed. Viable embryos are placed in the uterus (which has been prepared for implantation by a robust round of progesterone). Success rates for women close to 40 are not as good as younger women, but thousands have become pregnant. The draw back? It is expensive and most health insurances will not cover it.

But there is always hope, and if this is something your mom and her husband really want, then there are options such as IVF to look into.
