Hello fellow Freepers.
My mother - Kathy, who married her current husband Brian a few years ago, where I was the usher - has been trying to have a child with him.
The first two attempts did not succeed, as the fertilized eggs ended up settling in the Fallopian tubes both times, resulting in miscarriages. They were both very sad about this, and it might be a possibility that her body is too battered from already delivering three children (myself and my two little sisters).
They will be trying one last time next month. My mom will be taking hormone supplements on the 8th of June, to help prepare her body for the fertilized egg. She hopes that the egg will make it all the way to the uterus this time.
This is important because my mom is the first person Brian's ever married, and he doesn't have any children of his own. I can understand the fact that he wants children that he can call his own, that he can call his 'legacy' so to speak (as many fathers on FR might be able to attest to). He's never had a child before, so I hope the third time will be the charm.
In the meantime, I'll pray for them. I hope that you'll all do the same for mom, Brian, and the baby.
I know from personal experience. We waited 7 years for our first child...and then they didn't stop coming! My last arrived when I was 40! After cancer, lots of scarring, and a 30% abruption, I figured my chances for another child were slim to none.
Surprise! God can do a whole lot with "none," and even more with "slim."
Prayer will be even more important, though, if God has different plans in mind for your Mom and Brian. There may be a little one out there who desparately needs them as loving parents, who God has chosen for them to parent. As any adoptive parents will tell you, they love that child just as much as any child they conceived together. My husband and I were strongly considering adoption, had even downloaded applications, when I discovered I was pregnant. I'm hoping when my children are older, we can open our home to one of these precious angels.
I'm praying that it does work for them...but if it doesn't, encourage them not to close their hearts to little ones who are aching for a loving, nurturing home. There are so many of them out there!

My niece just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. She is 41.....they have two other children, a son 12 and daughter 8...what a prize he is...

Update.
10 embryos have been fertilized. Implantation will occur on Wednesday. On July 6th, she’ll find out if she’s pregnant.

Well our 2nd attempt at IVF worked, we are expecting a little one. We are only 4 wks along, but so far, everything is going as expected....
