We Are All in It Together, Clinton Says [Shared Prosperity Should Replace "On Your Own' Society"]

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) -- Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an "ownership society" really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."

That means pairing growth with fairness, she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the global economy, not just corporate CEOs.

"There is no greater force for economic growth than free markets. But markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed," she said. "Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."

Clinton spoke at the Manchester School of Technology, which trains high school students for careers in the construction, automotive, graphic arts and other industries. The school highlighted one of the nine goals she outlined: increasing support for alternative schools and community colleges.

"We have sent a message to our young people that if you don't go to college ... that you're thought less of in America. We have to stop this," she said. "Our country cannot run without the people who have the skills that are taught in this school."

Beyond education, Clinton said she would reduce special breaks for corporations, eliminate tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas and open up CEO pay to greater public scrutiny.

Clinton also said she would help people save more money by expanding and simplifying the earned income tax credit; create new jobs by pursuing energy independence; and ensure that every American has affordable health insurance.

Ignore what’s out there.

Yep, the best economy EVER!! Who in the world could ignore that?....lol Only the whiners.

And yet some are still whining? You BET I WOULD IGNORE those that whine about the best economy in the world--with the highest living standards in the world! As Larry Kudlow calls it, "Our economy is the GREATEST STORY NEVER TOLD"!

Only a liberal would try to fix something that is NOT broken....lol

The MSM have put such a focus on money in entertainment that the American people have lost all perspective on wealth.

The poor in America have a standard of living that is better than 90% of the world, but the entertainment media focuses attention on the Paris Hiltons and Donald Trumps and TV shows like Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The former leads people to believe the wealthy didn’t *earn* their wealth and the latter to believe even average people can simply be *given* the good life, with work involved.

Fifty years ago, people didn’t see the ultra-rich often enough to think of them as ordinary people. The assumption was that those people must be very special to have gained such wealth. The media today shows only the foibles of those people but not the virtues that created their wealth.

There was an interesting point made on a Fox Business program last week. They pointed out that Paris Hilton, as ridiculous as it may seem, made $7M in 2006 from modeling, commercials, and endorsements. So she isn’t necessarily “spending her inheritance”. Standing around posing for 12 hour photo shoots doesn’t sound like work to most people, but she didn’t NEED to do anything at all. I’ve never seen the MSM report something like that — only her pecadillos and an implied statement that she simply spends money she never earned, never that she has earnings of her own.

The envy this fosters is very unhealthy. People cannot be happy with their modest lives if they are bombarded with images of the ultra-rich.

What is really funny is the First Reason given was because ‘nobody listened!’

Gee, do you think it could be that the vast majority of REAL Americans don’t want to listen to their socialist garbage! The capitalist system demonstrated that their message is not what we want.

So, because we won’t listen to them, they are going to try and force the air waves to push their views!

What is happening in Venezuela, is happening right here in a much more subtle form. We will arrive at a socialist state and wonder how we got there? It is called liberalism.

“Ignore what’s out there.”

Well, obviously you all are going to and that will cost us.

Good luck. My advice is to bulletproof your portfolios now because when they win, I will be back (wealth safely tucked elsewhere) to say: “I told you so.”

Facts do not matter. PERCEPTION wins every time.

You have very little faith in the intelligence of the average American. The average American blasted her socialist health plan and this is just more of the same. Americans are surely not dumb enough to think we'll ever have legislation demanding people "share."

Even my college daughter joked that maybe she could drop out of school since all the wealthy people are going to share with her. This philosophy contradicts every basic American value of self reliance...Hillary's blown it big time with this remark. No American is going to embrace a candidate who encourages handouts.

Folks we're in real trouble here and it is time to stop all the talk and put actions in motion. The students in Venezuela have the courage...it is time we find ours.

Our situation is very different. Hugo is going directly to the Cuba model in his remaining term. He needs to get this done before his term ends, so he can push through his "president for life" rule. In so far as they have an obvious focal point in Hugo they have an advantage.

The people intent on the transformation of America are much smarter and patient. The "boiling frog" scenario is working well. There is not a single, visible, charasmatic person moving us to Socialism and One Worldism, there are many true candidates vying to be the 'standard carrier' for this program. They differ in the speed and spin (lies to disguise) they use to talk about it.

Clinton, Obama, Gore, Edwards, Kerry, and many more. And behind them a compliant or complicit media. And behind them accidental billionaires like Soros and the Progressive guy.

So will marching prove or change anything, in either case? We shall see but I'm willing to bet that the TV station in Venezeula never goes back to its original format and owners. Chavez will win this round, and the next one, and perhaps even achieve his ultimate goal of being the next Castro - Presidente for Life.

The elites here don't want Hillary-for-Life, that's not even in the cards.

As for us, how to resist. Right now jam the lines. Next? I have a hard time with street protests. It seems like such a 'leftist' tactic, though it does build coalitions and gets people fired up. Occassionaly Conservatives hit on a brilliant play that illuminates things.

The Minutemen are one - despite the media attempts to vilify them and the inter-organizational squabbles that have haunted the org. The Gathering of Eagles was good too, but again you saw part of the problems for us is that the media simply boycott our rallies, downplay the numbers, lie about the meaning and messages.

Therefore street protests might not be the way to oppose what is going down here in the USA.

It's already been tried here before. The Pilgrims tried communism when they first landed. They almost starved to death before getting rid of it.

replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

Observations from two people far wiser than Hillary Clinton.

"How do you tell a Communist?
Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin.
How do you tell an anti-Communist?
It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."
-- Ronald Reagan

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." -- Winston Churchill (Sir Winston Leonard Spenser Churchill)

Fine, Hildebeast - you want things to be shared?

I WANT YOUR MONEY.

I WANT YOUR PLANE.

I WANT YOU TO SHARE WHAT YOU HAVE - YOU DIVIDE OUT YOUR POSSESSIONS FIRST - then we'll see what I'm willing to share.

First thing I'd like to offer is a great big fart in your general direction - PIG!
