A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Kate, the pictures of your little sweeties (doggie & grandbaby) are so cute! Like some, I had a difficult time getting them all to open, because there are still a few of us living in the dark ages and don't have cable or dsl connections available! LOL!
I didn't want anyone to miss them so I saved, reduced & compressed them, uploaded them to tinypic, and am reposting them. I thought I got all 7 of them before the post was deleted, but evidently missed the second one of your doggie.
Thanks for sharing these with us on our Warm Fuzzy thread! :)

Oh, a Meercat! They are such interesting little animals - will never forget a documentary about them on PBS a few years ago. It's one of those kinds of animal stories with a female narrator, and about a family of meercats - of course we got to know each one in the family on a personal basis because they were given names like Debbie or something, and the story followed them as they struggled to survive among their predators. Cried a lot during that show - it was so sad to see them mourn one of their own as he or she was caught and killed by a hungry lion or tiger. :(
But your graphic is a cutie!

This is great! You created a beautiful table!! Hi (((Kitty Mittens)))
The other day a Robin landed right by the window and looked in. The Robin had a bunch of nesting material in his mouth. It was so funny and cute. :)

Hi Billie. Meerkats are just the cutest things, aren't they? I didn't see the PBS Meerkat shows, but I have become very involved in
"Meerkat Manor" on Animal Planet. I think I have watched all of the past two seasons which chronicle the adventures of the Whisker family. Have you seen any of them? Flower is the matriarch, Zaphod is her mate. Yossarian is his brother who has "social problems" and, when left to "babysit", has a habit of relocating the pups to a new burrow. He is such a misfit. One of Flowers pups died in one of Yossarians harebrained burrow move attempts. It was so sad. Then, one of Flower's daughters was seduced by "Carlos", a roving male from another family, and came home pregnant. Flower ostracized her, forcing her out of the family (Flower is the only female in the family allowed to mate). Another really sad turn of events for poor little Mozart. Shakespeare, Mozart's brother, was bitten by a poisionous snake. He survived, but it was touch and go for awhile. His sister Daisy would fore-go foraging trips to sit with her sick brother, keeping him company for days while he recovered.
The series is available on DVD now, I think. I highly recommend it. The social structure of these little animals is so interesting to watch. I sure hope that there is a new season of Meerkat Manor coming. I have to find out what happens to Flower's little family.

All Y’all...Please,don’t feel it needed to continue to explain the resizing of stuff to me...I get it!(my tone is lite & jovial. I say something publically because I was pinged publically is all...)
Oh that we could all be as speedy as this rabbit!

I haven’t watched the meerkat show.
But, in flipping through the channels I do recognize the narrators voice to be that of Sean Astin...I like his voice and his acting skills!
Especially in “50 First Dates!
Very Funny!

Yes, Sean Astin narrates the show, and it appears that Animal Planet is currently rerunning some of the episodes of Meerkat Manor, but I don't know if it is season one or two. It would be best to watch from the beginning of season 1, but I suppose you could start watching at any point. The lead in to every show explains how they are photographed, who the meerkat "stars" are, how they are related to each other, and a bit of the previous show is recapped.
I think that, when compared to so much of the junk that is on tv, this show stands apart. It is well done, educational, interesting and good family fare (well, except for the Carlos' escapades with THREE of Flowers daughters, LOL).
BTW, speaking of Sean Astin, I think he was on a few of the episodes of "24" this season.....or, maybe I am thinking of someone else.
