More women feeling skeptical about Clinton's authenticity - though they wish they weren't
The Dallas Morning News ^ | July 8, 2007 | Melinda Henneberger

The most appealing thing about Hillary Rodham Clinton has always been her enemies, who often seem not in their right mind, screaming that she is a murderer and calling her names like "Her Thighness." They make you want to like her.

Yet in interviews across the country with women of all ages, races, income brackets and points of view, one of the rare patches of common ground was skepticism about the first female presidential contender with a serious shot at the White House. Over 18 months, I traveled to 20 states listening to women speak at length about what they care about and what drives them crazy as they look toward the presidential election in '08. I ought to like her, many of the strongest Democrats among them said. But on no other matter did left, right and center converge as on the view best summed up as "Anybody but Hillary' – to the point that I began to dread the mention of her name, because it meant we would probably not get around to talking about anything else that day.

All of which runs contrary to the accepted narrative of this election cycle, which is that it is women who are leading the charge for Mrs. Clinton's candidacy. Polling, which at this point still mainly measures name ID, certainly shows a far more mixed picture for Mrs. Clinton where female voters are concerned; 51 percent of those who participated in a recent Washington Post-ABC News survey said they support her for the Democratic nomination.

Bush/Clinton/Clinton/Bush/Bush - haven't Americans had enough of these A-holes?

We're ready for a real American president who actually believes in the Constitution. We have a choice, and it's NOT Hillary.

It seems Hillary Clinton isn’t being “supported” by women, and we all “know” men can’t stand her...lol.

The real why? Hillary is not a “likable” character. Campaign money can do a lot of things, but it can’t magically change a person’s personality or how they connect (or don’t) to voters. Hillary is not Bill.

Any way you look at it, Hillary is polarizing. If she gets into the White House every decision she makes or doesn’t make will be viewed in the extreme.

Very astute. You ought to be on that Fox panel with Charles Krauthammer and the boys. ;-)

My MIL and I didn’t get along all that well, but she made awesome peanut butter fudge for Christmas, and she taught my little one all kinds of card and board games when my ex had visitation. She loved her grandkids, and that was good enough for me.

Well, how many slightly to really plump ones are there?

Please don’t answer... obviously you are willing to beat this dead horse into a bloody pulp.

Thanks.

She’s neither ugly nor fat. She could stand to lose about 30 pounds and she’s a better than average looking woman in her late fifties. It’s the inside that’s ugly (I don’t know about fat)

I agree, she's not ugly or fat. She's not bad looking at all. If you gave her a labotomy and stuffed a conservative brain and some humility in her skull she would actually be very pleasant.

Wouldn’t it be nice if Hillary Clinton creeped out the country so much that the next election were a cakewalk for the Republican? I think it could happen. Then again, I thought Dole had a chance . . .

Because they are not stupid the reason he was Monica is because Hillary is a Lesbian she has only stayed married in order to become president. Bill is biting at the rains just so he can get back into the White House in order to screw everything with a heartbeat, he can count Hillary out on that one.

If God forbid the Hildebeast is elected POTUS, how much do you want to bet that the first presidential decree is:

ALL WHITE HOUSE INTERNS MUST BE OVERWEIGHT, BALDING OLD MEN.

Can you imagine anyone, male or female, voting for the former First Bitch? As corrupt as they come. She and her husband both belong in federal prison.

No! Crazy people who've voted for either of them. They belong in prison with shackles.

Maybe her problems have something to do with the fact that she's an ice-cold, manipulative, power-hungry, arrogant, ex-hippie socialist.

...or maybe those are just my particular problems with her.

Why are women more skeptical of Hillary than men?

During the clinton regime Rush observed that these clintonoids are people who actually want to be lied to. The inane and insipid comments from the twits quoted in this article validate Rush's insight. They want to believe!

I don't think women as a group are more skeptical of her at all. Quite the contrary. The newsworthiness here is that they are not lined up and nodding their bobble-heads in unison every time she screeches out some leftwing platitude.

“Yeah, but look at the results: she got in anyway. So who voted for her?”

To be sure liberal NYC pushed her over the top for the state, but I referred to suprising weakness in Manhattan that, since America ISN’T NYC or even NY State, will be amplified in a national race.

“And that can be accomplished by having all the Democratic precinct captains skew ...”

Gotta give you that. Democrats in general and the Clintons in particular are the crookedest people on the planet.

": Because women are much better at spotting phonies and disengenuous people than men are.

They are better at spotting phoney women. They are most definitely not better at spotting phoney men.

(Exhibit A: Slick Willie).

I agree but I disagree. My thesis is that they know darn well the men in question are nothing but trouble. They just believe they can change him if given the chance.

O’Reilly has a good segment on that tonight with Robin Givens (Mike Tyson’s ex punching bag/wife). For some reason women love bad boys. Thank God. I would have been a very lonely person.
