I’m neither a Christian nor a Mormon so on some level you’re probably right, I am incapable of truly understanding, at least the emotions involved.

But Mormons claim to worship Christ. Are they lying?

We don’t know where they went. But the absence of archeological evidence doesn’t prove they didn’t exist.

My own conviction that the Book of Mormon is what Joseph Smith says it was rests on spiritual experiences, mostly, and — as one who makes a living writing — on my certainty that a twenty-something, partially educated, farm boy couldn’t have written it.

Actually, Romney isn’t my candidate. I don’t have a candidate yet. I’m not that thrilled with any of them — including Thompson.

“Christians believe Jesus Christ is God.”

We believe that He is God, too. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Jehovah of the Bible.

That is exactly why I posted to you. There are very strong fundamental differences that are at work here.

“But Mormons claim to worship Christ. Are they lying?”

You’ve just opened up a large can of worms my friend. In short, the Jesus Christ of Christianity and the Jesus Christ of Mormonism or two different people with two completely different natures.

Hmmm. Pardon me, lady lawyer, but that's pretty lame. But I guess you have to have some way of getting past that obstacle, in order to fit in with your society and hang out with your friends. I'm cool with that. Just be aware, that is an extremely uneducated answer. That doesn't mean you are uneducated. You could have a Phd in rocket science and still choose to take on a very uneducated point of view on a particular subject.

Anyway, I'm not trying to pick a fight with you. If I didn't respect your intelligence I wouldn't have brought it up at all.

And as for Romney, if he beats Fred in the primary (which I find an unlikely scenario, I think Fred is going to sweep the nomination) I will definitely be voting for him and maybe even campaigning for him in the general election.

I think Romney is turning out to be an excellent campaigner with great wit and courage against the RAT media slander machine.

So let me ask you, bigcat32. If it were just religion and nothing else, if Romney convinced you he was a true conservative on the political issues that mattered to you, could you vote for a Mormon conservative as long as he was politically really a conservative or would the ‘Mormon’ stop you from voting for him?

And while you’re at it, google LDS Seminary. I am a graduate, BTW and so is Mitt.

Well, maybe Fred will be able to convince you once he really starts running. I hope so.

“We believe that He is God, too. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Jehovah of the Bible.”

Do Mormons believe that they will one day become like God and populate their own planets? Can you elaborate on this aspect of your beliefs? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the spiritual brother of Satan?

That’s a good question. I think there are situations where I would be able to vote for Romney especially if it were him vs. Hillary!

This is what I googled under LDS Seminary. Is this what you're talking about, or do the LDS have a post-graduate institution of study?

What Is Seminary? The seminary program offers weekday religious instruction for youth who attend public, private, or home schools. Seminary also assists parents and priesthood leaders in encouraging youth to serve missions and marry in the temple. Students may enroll in seminary if they are at least in the ninth grade (or equivalent) and will turn 14 years of age or older during the school year.

I’m glad to hear it. We have reached agreement on something. Again, Romney isn’t my first choice, though I do probably trust his conservative credentials more than many people in FR do.

But like I said, I don’t think it’s going to be a big issue, since I expect Fred to sweep the nomination process.

“almost all Christian Conservatives who are familiar with Mormon doctrine will NEVER vote for a Mormon”

I am a Christian conservative, and I would not base my vote on what a man’s (or woman’s) religious views are. I base my vote on what that person stands for, and the sincerity of their convictions in that regard. I admire Orin Hatch.. a Mormon. I don’t admire Harry Reid....a Mormon. I think Mitt Romney... a Mormon, is not to be trusted with our guns or our preborn.
To paraphrase an old saying....”Actions talk BS walks”
I oppose him based on his past actions...not his religious beliefs.

I don’t think it is an uneducated answer. It is an honest one. It happens to be a truism in the law — the absence of evidence is not proof of anything.

Yes the LDS Church provides classes of instruction in the Theology of their own scriptures as well as a perusal of the Bible. Mormonism provides time released Seminary during the four years of High School in Utah, Idaho and other intermountain States. They also have LDS Religion Institute in colleges and Universities. It is also LDS Seminary.

Perhaps just another of the Christian words that have been distorted by Mormonism...you be the judge.

To be truthful I’m waiting for Fred to officially get in before I take a close look at him but I hope he is as advertised.

Why would this be an issue for you?

Not an issue, unless you are running for high public office.
