Matt interviewed Kyla Ebbert, a 23-year-old college student who works as a waitress at Hooters. Two months ago, she boarded a Southwest Airlines flight from San Diego to Tucson. Before the flight took off, she was escorted into the jetway by a customer service representative, who asked her to change clothes. She didn't have any other clothes with her -- she had no luggage -- so the customer service rep told her to go home and change, then get a later flight. She said she had an appointment that she couldn't change, so after getting a lecture on appropriate attire, she was allowed to re-board the plane. But once back in her seat, she had to cover her legs with a blanket for the entire flight. Kyla wore the same outfit to the show this morning. At first, when she appeared on the set, it didn't seem like her outfit was so inappropriate. It was clear that her skirt was pretty short, but it didn't seem worthy of getting a lecture from a customer service representative on how to dress. But when she sat down, we learned just how short that skirt was -- when she flashed our national television audience. Yeah, that skirt was short. So there are a lot of questions here. What is appropriate dress for flying? Who should decide what is appropriate? Should airlines have a dress code? And without a dress code, can an airline block someone from flying? Southwest did, in fact, let her take the flight, but apparently not without embarrassing her and making a scene. It seems like unless there was a particular incident or complaint from other customers, then she should have been allowed to fly without any issues. But as we learned this morning, that skirt was indeed pretty short.

Tomorrow, Rush will talk about this most important piece of news for about an hour, yammering away about her clothes and body with emphasis on her bust.
He then may find 2 seconds to mention Hsu or something similar.
I saw an episode of the A&E Program about Southwest where a man wearing a kilt was denied boarding.
Apparently, when he sat down or stood up or bent over, too much of his "down under" was exposed.
I really have to wonder where Lauer’s eyes were at, at that moment.
She has white underwear on, at least.
she needs to be a contestant on the ‘what not to wear’ show.
amazing, but I see this all the time at the local high schools. she is supposed to be a grown woman. yes it is inapproriate and distracting.
You’re right. We always hear the ‘victim’s’ side, with evidence presented by the victim. I’ve spent too much time on Southwest to believe they pulled her from the plane dressed like the picture shows her.
But it fits the media template.
Heh, Caipirabob: the food’s ALWAYS tastier at Viscaya! Man, I want to throw a party there one day.
She works at Hooters. She was most likely wearing a THONG! Let’s hope there was no YEAST infection!! Actually, she probably wasn’t wearing a thong!
I see middle school girls wearing skanky clothes. My 10 year old daughters think that the middle school girls dress badly. I don’t know why the moms let the girls wear those clothes.
I’m really happy that my daughters best friend has older sisters who are beautiful and dress stylishly and modestly. The older girls constantly have handsome young men accompanying them to church.
You can clearly see buy the photo of her standing that she came on the set wearing the skirt positioned absolutely as LOW as she could possibly wear it without having it fall off! I bet on the plane she was wearing it MUCH higher....I’ll let your imagination take over at this point!!
That snap is a fit, and it rhymes with c..........! She’s either got basalt for a brain or the lawyer told her get it down as low as she could wear it!
She was going to miss her interview for a Rhodes Scholarship! Poor dear, to be so intelligent and miss such an opportunity!
May I accompany you on your next visit???
dress like Paris Hilton and assure yourself 15 minutes of fame. Next she will be featured in Playboy or Hustler.
I’d like to see a photo of the flight attendant that threw her off.
This is much ado about nothing. There is nothing wrong with the outfit.
She has a sister...
On the oversized monitor just offstage?
