MANCHESTER, N.H. Mitt Romney was in Michigan, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada and then went back to Michigan. Rudy Giuliani visited Florida, Michigan, South Carolina, Alabama, Washington and New Hampshire. John McCain went from Michigan to Iowa to New Hampshire.
But where was Fred, as in Fred Thompson?
Besides participating in his first presidential debate in Michigan last Tuesday, Thompson was missing from the campaign trail. The former Tennessee senator and star of NBC's "Law & Order" was scheduled to be in New Hampshire this weekend, but canceled.
New Hampshire voters noticed.
"He's a late entry. That will probably hurt him," said Geri Gormley, of Bow, who visited with McCain but remains uncommitted. "We're grass roots. Candidates come up and pick our brains, one on one.

I know it is not an excuse, but he seemed to have a cold at the debate.
I had heard that he was doing fundraisers in Tennessee and Texas as you said.
Maybe the author of this piece hasn’t been paying attention.
“Fred might be focusing on different approaches to the campaign. Here it says he had the highest net traffic.”
Great- maybe if he gets elected he can run a net presidency.
He can tell Putin to log onto “www.presidentthompson.com” to see his foreign policy positions, and he can send mass computer-generated e-mails to the members of Congress when it comes time to twist arms for various legislation.
Wow, a Fox News hit piece on Thompson. Really surprising.
You would think were supporting Giuliani of something...

“I know it is not an excuse, but he seemed to have a cold at the debate.”
Yes, and he had same sniffles/throat clearing when he announced on Jay Leno about a month prior to that. I’ve been criticized on this board for raising health issues with him all along, which surprises me because a candidate diagnosed with cancer is going to face those questions.
Either Republicans can ask these questions now (and maybe there are satisfactory answers, though this looks less likely with every missed or shortened campaign apperance), or we can bury our head in the sand, ignore them, and then watch while Hillary’s media trumpets his health problems night and day after he’s nominated.
And believe you me, the left wing media is just laying low at this point- they will make their presence felt in full once Republicans nominate a candidate.
Look New Hampshire, I doubt you understand this, but most of us couldn't give a fig whether you vet the candidates for us or not.
Your comments seem to be in desparate need of translation. "We're here to check Thompson out, and if he isn't going to come up here and make me look like a Washington, D.C. power hitter, I won't vote for him."
Okay, so don't. Yawn.
What'ya got, three electoral votes up there?
They already are. That’s what articles like this are all about.
BUMP
I've seen some nasty stuff posted on FR, but really, you take the cake for a nasty smear on some great people.
Comparing Fred and Jeri Thompson to Kerry and the Ketchup heiress is unfathomable. I think you'd find better company at the DUmp. Comments like yours belong there, not here.
“They already are. Thats what articles like this are all about.”
Fox News isn’t the liberal media- I assume they are approaching this from a good faith basis and simply wondering why a major Republican candidate isn’t doing anything for almost a full week.
But regardless, it was entirely predictable that Fred would face this kind of scrutiny, and all he had to do to dispel it was SHOW UP. Show up in some kind of public way, preferably for long hours each day, doing virtually anything with cameras present. Attend a country bake sale, speak to a Rotary club, give a speech at a university somewhere.
Just do ANYTHING that requires health or energy and where there are cameras to document it. The fact that he not only hasn’t done that, but has been completely absent for almost a full week, makes me half-doubt that he’ll still be a candidate when the Iowa caucus rolls around.
That link is too funny!
Fox News is favoring their home town candidate Guiliani.
Of course they are going to bash thompson.
You nailed it.
FoxNews and Rupert are in the tank for Rudy.
This type of underhanded behavior just keeps lowering my opinion of FoxNews.
All Rudy all the Time.
Makes me sick!
FDT differs from his closest ally John McCain how again?
