Senile nut? C’mon. I happen to like him... ;)

As much as I hate to say it; McCain is our strongest candidate right now as he polls well with Indies.

Heck he's even grown on me a bit. Moving up to third on this right winger's favorites after Fred and Mitt. Actually if Hunter had any shot Mc would be fourth in my books.

He is old, perhaps a one term pledge would help him.

I’m holding my breath hoping for his special session to crumble.

I’m sorry DJ, we’ll just have to disagree. A have a broad view of McCain, and try to take that of all the candidates. I have weighed many competing considerations (including history) and I have come to the conclusion that McCain is the best. I dismiss out of hand arguments based on emotion (RINO, disloyal, MSM-friendly: McCain has been a Republican longer than Rudy or Romney and consistent; and I don’t necessarily see it bad the some media are captivated by McCain [that can help us]). There are many things I did not bring up: McCain is the only of the top four who polls consistently even among men and women. Giuliani, Fred, or Romney leave open the danger of mass female defection. This is how I feel.

Pledging yourself to one term as President makes you instantly irrelevent and a lame duck. They’d immediately be talking about who the next President is going to be. In a way, we’d almost be better off going to a single 6-year term for which you can’t run for reelection. Most Presidents tend to burn out by their 6th year, anyway.

If Gilmore uses the immigration issue properly, he has a pretty good chance of winning. This is not Allen redux.

I’m sorry, too. I make a point of trying to get a broad view of a person. No candidate is necessarily perfect, but when they exhibit flaws all over the map, they lose my support. It’s not emotional, it’s the reality. I don’t trust McCain, and that’s all there is.

No, but it really doesn't matter a year away from the election. Allen had similar margins over Webb.

As a resident of VA since 1977, I don't view Warner as a slam dunk, especially since he will be running with Hillary at the top of ticket. Gilmore is viable commodity in VA and has lots of connections throughout the state. Gilmore has miliary service, Warner does not. Gilmore is a conservative and Warner a liberal.

What could be a harbinger for 2008 will be tomorrow's elections. Here in NoVA, immigration has become a major issue and could be a defining one in 2008. It cuts across party lines. If people like Corey Stewart and Jay O'Brien win their elections, it could send a real message to both of the national parties. Kaine has been on the wrong side of the immigration issue, e.g., he opposes giving 287 [g] authority to state law enforcement officials. If Warner supports Kaine's position, this race will become a dog fight.

The Dems have pulled out all stops here in NoVA with Kaine, Webb, and other Dems appearing at local rallies. Rep internal polling is showing surprising support for our candidates, mainly due to the immigration issue.

Correct , of course. The same goes nationally with Rudy, Mitt or Fred. But, getting the stubborn blind Pub Purists to realize any Dem is worse than any Pub is a hard row to hoe. And now that Va. is turning back to its Dem roots , Gilmore will be a hard sell unfortunately. I pray for his victory. Mark Warner is another clever socialist Dem who is slick and reminds me of a former Prez!

My cousin went to Georgetown during the early 1990’s. She fell in love with the D.C. Metro and remained there ever since. She currently lives in Herndon, Va.

Here’s hoping that the GOP can keep its hold on the Va Senate. Good luck.
