Your last paragraph is Bravo Sierra in its entirety.
“Fundamentalist Mormons” are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and you know it.
Why can’t you write the truth about things?
Good. If you try, you can be civil. I respect your belief and in return I demand that you respect mine.
Merry Christmas to you too!!
This is the most misunderstood LDS doctrine by both Mormons & non-Mormons alike.
So I'm glad you said self-declared Mormons even now who claim polygamy is good.
Frankly speaking, most Mormons have to believe that polygamy is still good. For them to believe in a celestial kingdom where polygamy is supposedly still practiced by those who embraced it on earth, can you imagine a Mormon thinking...?
"Yup, when I die I'm going to go right up to Joseph & Brigham & tell them & their wives right to their faces that polygamy was immoral, unlawful, exploitive, etc.!!!"
(Yeah, right)
That's why the LDS Doctrine & Covenants never condemns polygamy, never retracts it, never recants it, never implies God even changed his mind about its worthiness. The 1890 change is not worded as a "new revelation"; rather it's simply a "declaration" that it's halted (on colony earth only).
This Group nothing to do with “The Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter Day Saints” any more than Jim Jones had to do with other Christian Churches!
Because someone wants to call themselves something they never were!
You are most welcome to vote for the candidates of your choice and I relish our freedom to do so. I am simply tired of certain people on FR acting like liberals running my church down.
Although you have to admit that the last two baptists in the White House have been real winners! (Carter and Clinton)
;)

Very interesting, Elsie. Just think, Joseph and Brigham are supposedly gods on their own planets practicing polygamy with their numerous wives as we speak. What role models they are! Which Mormon who denies polygamy now will come out and openly condemn their behavior and teachings on polygamy?
*crickets*
I never said they were in any affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. I referred to them as a polygamous Mormon sect.
There are several dozen polygamous groups in Utah who do, as a general rule,
believe in the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, the Temple Ceremony
as originally handed down by Joseph Smith, and Doctrine and Covenants
(including Section 132). In my opinion, that makes them very Mormon indeed.
The article never mention Mormon you did!
The article clearly referred to the teens as members of the Fundamentalist
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As noted above, this sect
purports to believe in the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, the Temple
Ceremony as originally handed down by Joseph Smith, and Doctrine and
Covenants (including Section 132). That is why I referred to them as Mormon. If
this is incorrect, I apologize.
Satan loves for Christians to fight with each other. It is the best way for him to make progress.
Reminds me of the nosy old women that go to church every Sunday so they have people to talk about the rest of the week. Ask them what the sermon was about and they can’t remember. Ask them who is fooling around with whom - they can tell you all.
If Mitt Romney states that he has accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, then that should be the end of it. Christians that do not accept all people within Christianity or try to keep certain sects out of Christianity must not read the scriptures. Judge not...
We all have members of our own faiths that do not live as true Christians should live.
What interests me is how the media and others always refer to his faith. However Reid is never described in newspapers as the Mormon senator.
They left out the parts where Jesus and Satan were brothers and where you and I and everyone else could become gods. I could go on but why. Anyone that reads can find this stuff.
Thanks DU....how are your holiday preparations going? All done?
Everything went well until you got to Joseph Smith. That just about ends it as far as true Christianity goes. History proves that Smith was not a prophet and you know what God does to false prophets.
Well, it's clear for bishops, anyway.
LOL, I am NOT a Mitt supporter. Actually, I am probably considered the polar opposite of a Mitt supporter...sorry to confuse you.
No. He is a fundamentalist Mormon going by the teachings of the founder of Mormonism. You may want to go back to Mormon history to understand and accept what they were taught to believe.
Christians didnt want polygamy and why the United States Supreme Court banned polygamy - Mormonism is not Christian and violated Christian principles.
Fellow Mormons on FR will try to wiggle out of this bur occasionally one will be honest .... Mormons dont believe in the Trinity. They like Christ but believe Christ achieved godhood and you can too! Mormonism is a works driven religion.
Mormons also believe that some who live an excemplatory life will get a PLANET with lots of VIRGINS. None of this is Christian. None of it. Its a perverted imitation of Christianity.
"Fundamentalist Mormons are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and you know it.
Why cant you write the truth about things?”
I do write the truth about things even though you want to gloss over the truth. This guy was following what the founder of Mormonism taught - polygamy. He was following the ORIGINAL teachings of the Mormon religion. Obviously that is NOT in agreement with the Bible and why it is a false religion. A prophet doesn’t change what is already known in the Bible that polygamy is WRONG and not Christian.
Mormonism continues to evolve since the truth keeps catching up with it. Funny how you don't deny that Mormons don't believe in the Trinity. You don't want to address that they believe that Christ achieved "godhood" and you can too! You ignore the fact that Mormons are taught that if you live an exceptionally "good" life you'll be rewarded with a PLANET and VIRGINS! Nah, gloss over that and pretend that it is "Christian" to believe that. None of Christs' teachings agree with NO Trinity works driven salvation achieving godhood after a physical death on this earth you will be rewarded with a planet and unlimited virgins.
I guess since the Mormon founder, Smith, had to back off on polygamy on earth - the reward will be polygamy with virgins in "paradise". Geesh, that's what MUSLIMS believe - virgins are waiting for them after death.
Keep ignoring the TRUTH about Mormon beliefs, Old Mountain man ... . The truth isn't pretty when it comes to the Mormon religion - it's just a glorified cult and not at all Christian - and YOU KNOW IT!
oops
