And the cornerstone of American liberty is the self-evident truth that our rights to life and liberty come from our Creator.

I hear that a lot from people who want me to believe the federal government operatates under the direct authority of their Creator.

"When fascism comes it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross."

It'll be wrapped in a white flag carrying the banner of Political Correctness.

And Mike has made the suggestion that God is on his side. I get a little antsy when a politician tells me I should agree with him because God will punish me for eternity if I don't do what the politician says.

Agreed.

So heres a novel idea........lets vote for Romney or Rudy or Huckabee or Thompson...blah blah blah.

These guys ARE the establishment.

If we keep fishin from the same ol pond, were gonna keep catchin the same ol big mouth bass.

If there is ever going to be change, we have to stop voting for these CFR globalist candidates. Your choice.

I choose to seek an alternative....not sure Ron Paul is that alternative, but I’m not votin for a liberal rino...period.

His entire quote needs to be read...the quote by Lewis is taken out of context. When asked in an interview about Huckabee's advertisement which had a window pane in it that looked like a cross, Paul responded:

Well, I haven’t thought about it completely, but you know, it reminds me of what Sinclair, uh, Lewis once said, he said ‘when Fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross.’ I don’t know whether that’s a fair assessment or not, but you wonder about using a cross like he is the only Christian, or implying that subtly. So, uh, I don’t think I would ever use anything like that.

That gives Paul's statement a little more perspective.

His point, I hope, is that the appearance of good will seduce us to evil.

A message worthy of consideration, regardless of the messenger.

Devotion to God or country is fine. Devotion to God or country that will not suffer question or scrutiny is where there's potential for abuse.

“I see nothing in Huckabee’s background to make me think he’d be a tyrant.”

Other than...

Being a Bloomberg style food nazi?

A big government nanny state supporter - more so than Bush?

Lying about having a theology degree during a recent debate, as if that qualified him to be POTUS anyway?

Using the force of government and his influence as governor to protect his son from prosecution for torturing and killing a dog at scout camp?

Releasing an ad that features a floating cross in the background, as if he had the divine right of kings to rule over us?

lormand wants everyone banned.
He can not rationally discuss ANY topic.
Remove Ron Paul from the equation here, and lormand pulls every trolling technique out of his hat, with the picture of him sitting next to JimRob as his Coup de grâce whenever lormand is called out for trolling the Republican Liberty Caucus contigent on FR.

I’ve gone so far as to never respond to the guy, he is simply a partisan bulldog, the kind that isn’t worth the time to converse with on a internet forum, even if the forum is otherwise worth the time to post on. Nothing wrong with partisan bulldogs, but he uses the appeal to authority trolling technique so often as to look pathetic to long time freepers, no matter which side of the primary candidates people are on, and no matter what the issue.

So, to the rest of the people who read this, go click his nick and go back and read his posting history. Make your own decision on his intentions on posting on FR.

Trolling is now a blood sport.

Jim, I might as well preemptively make you aware of this post. Sorry to bother you over something this trivial.

“Funny there were a few on the road and about 3 hrs later they were in the garbage. That skid doesnt do well here in the south”

Destroying the signs of any candidate is against the law, and shameful.

I think RP was on target here with his Sinclair Lewis reference. People are acting like we're electing a pope, not selecting a GOP nominee.

First of all a good majority of posters here are not Hucklabee supporters. I wouldn't say he's a bad guy but I am not voting for him in the Primary. RP is standing on thin ice when he insults American Christians in general by equating a like-minded individual as fascist. It doesn't help.

P.S...I've spent the last 3 days on Military Installations and I didn't see one Ron Paul sticker. I was looking for them. In fact I saw few political bumper stickers.

The Republican Party should have a big tent, but there should be no seat in it for kooks like Ron Paul.

He was quoting somebody else, and he immediately followed it with “I don’t know if that’s a fair assessment.” Post the whole transcript, smear artist.

Sleazy lawyer, after loaded comment in front of jury: "Your honor, I withdraw my comment."

Sleazy nutcase, after loaded comment on TV show: “I don’t know if that’s a fair assessment.”

“Huckabee never said he is the only Christian. Neither does he imply it.”

Oh BS. He said during the debate he was the only one with a theology degree. Even worse, it was a lie. His degree was in Religion. Theology degree is different.

Interesting that Ron Paul chose this particular quote to associate fascism with Christianity...

It comes from a writer who drank himself to death....
Certainly explains the distorted vision..

Ron Paul himself appears blind to the real and most dangerous fascists on the planet today -— Islamists, of whom he has said little..
