Clinton vs. Giuliani & Romney (One Point Apart: Clinton and Giuliani, Clinton and Romney)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 12/22/07 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 12/22/2007 6:24:10 AM PST by Reaganesque

In a general election match-up, both Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney find themselves in a toss-up with Hillary Clinton. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone shows Giuliani with a statistically insignificant 45% to 44% advantage over Clinton. Romney enjoys the same margin, nominally leads Clinton 44% to 43%.

Both Republicans have a decided advantage with male voters. Clinton has the advantage with female voters (see crosstabs).

Clinton and Giuliani have been trading generally insignificant leads for months. In the last four polls, Clinton led twice, Giuliani led twice. Earlier in December, it was Clinton by three. Both candidates have been within four points of the 45% mark in nine consecutive surveys (see history of this match-up).

However, while Giuliani has been competitive with the Democratic frontrunner all year, the current poll represents the best performance yet for Romney. Clinton had held the lead over Romney in 11 out of 11 previous surveys. Earlier in December, he trailed the former First Lady by three percentage points(see history of this match-up).

Mayor Giuliani has expended relatively few resources on the earliest primary and caucus states and hopes to make a sweep of big states on Super Tuesday, coming up in February. He lags in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina—where Romney, Mike Huckabee and John McCain are drawing the most support.

In New Hampshire Romney attracts 31% support, McCain attracts 27%. In Iowa, Huckabee and Romney are virtually tied 28% to 27%; in South Carolina, they're exactly tied 23% to 23%. Huckabee has a very modest lead nationally in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Hillary Clinton, currently viewed unfavorably by 54% of all voters, has generally enjoyed a stronger lead in the Democrats' nomination race than Giuliani has in the GOP race. But she finds herself in very competitive early state races-- Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina are all too close to call among the Democrats.

Romney would win the woman vote by a large margin against Hillary.

Given the chance to vote for a bitchy woman or a dashingly handsome man, women will go for the man every time.

My father says this is one more reason why women should not be allowed to vote (:~)

Romney’s holding up well going into the home stretch. He has the resources to make a final sprint. It will be interesting to see if Rush Limbaugh’s Friday commentary peels off a few percent of Huckabee’s support.

As negative information comes out for Guiliani and Huckabee, I expect the primary get get down to Fred vs Romney.

May the best man win.

Clinton, Romney, Guiliani...a toss up. All three have fruity liberal positions in their records. This is what you get when you run RINOs. Hopefully the pubbies will wake up and nominate a conservative candidate to demonstrate a distinct difference between them and the Demoncrats. Once that happens the former first co-dependent will lose big.

Let's re-establish conservatism as the core value of the Republican Party and turn back this wave of "blue-blood Republicanism" espoused by the liberal troika of Romney, Guiliani and McCain.

.."one more reason why women should not be allowed to vote."

Male chauvanist ping! Romney is handsome, and I will vote for him if he is nominated.

I am a woman and Fred is my choice. Nobody can say he is handsome--but he is more conservative than any other Rep. candidate. I like a Fred-Duncan Hunter ticket.

Most people don't remember but after the Republican Convention in 1980 the media polls showed that Jimmy Carter was leading Ronald Reagan by 20 points.

In fact during that period William F. Buckley wrote a column telling Republicans that Reagan was doing a terrible job of running a campiagn. Buckley thought Carter looked like a sure winnner. But when they counted the votes on election day Reagan defeated Carter by 10 points.

It appears that the Media Polls were just 30 points wrong. Oh the polls did change over the course of the campaign.. On election day they polls showed the race was within the margin of error. But both the internal Democratic and Repubilcan polls showed Reagan a sure winner. That is why Carter conceded the race just 10 minutes after the polls closed on the East Coast.

New polling data released today shows that Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney have the highest level of core opposition among the leading Presidential candidates. Forty-seven percent (47%) are poised to vote against each of them.

Will the GOP make the mistake of nominating a candidate with negatives as high as Hillary?

**** Oh, here's the explanation.... Mitt: It depends on what the meaning of “saw” is ****

Actually Mitt's dad DID march with MLK in Detroit. There's a thread on it. So maybe Mitt 'apologized' (clarified?) too soon.

...And the reason is...

"He spoke damn clear English. The plain sense of the passage is clear from the preceding and succeeding sentences."

"I said that his speech was misread. The lack of intelligence rests in the reader, not the speaker. Just because a fool misreads something someone writes or says doesn’t mean the fault rests with the speaker or writer... You have to be a Mitt-hater to read them the way you do."

Mitt can always flip back to his original position. He is VERY comfortable doing that. < /sarcasm>

According to multiple eyewitnesses, Mitt's father, Michigan Governor George Romney, in fact marched with Martin Luther King in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

You are boring us.
