“Thompson is ALWAYS way down in ARG polls”

If you actually look at the poll results, you can see that ARG had Fred at 14% before he went to Iowa.

I did look. He runs significantly lower in ARG polls than others. The same is true in SC.

At this rate, Hunter will be ahead of Thompson by the time the caucuses take place.

Giuliani is at 20%, Huckabee 20%, Romney 17%, and McCain 17%. Among women, Huckabee is at 26%, Romney 26%, and McCain 17%.

The most liberal to the least liberal "Republicans" from top to bottom.

Not a great revelation.

That’s strange. I like him more when I see him speak, as in debates.

Freepers are mostly in Thompson’s or Hunter’s corner yet Iowans are highly for Romney..

I donate $$ to Hunter on a regular basis, but I support Romney as the GOP's best chance to win in '08.

I am most in tune with Duncan's rock-ribbed take-no-prisoners attitude, but it's no secret that he does not have the 'presidential' type of personality that the majority of Americans seek in a President. (sorry Duncan, I'm just facing reality)

Romney is the best blend of several essentials: he is a conservative-supporting candidate, telegenic, handsome with a great TV/media presence, and with great financial support.

And I believe he will keep his promises to govern from the right, because THAT will be where his power and authority comes from. The left would never help a Romney administration succeed.

I also believe that any reluctance to Romney on the part of southern conservative states or hard right conservatives in general will be forgotten and smoothed over as the '08 campaign gets into gear.

Guiliani would split the GOP in half, and Thompson would put the GOP to sleep..(sorry Fred, I love ya, but that's the way things shape up)

McCain is unstable, anti-GOP and too old, despite his recent efforts at trying to get along with fellow Republicans.

Mitt stands the best chance of bringing it all together.

Team Willard is within the margin of error (± 4%) of the lead. The Dalton gang is within the margin of error of zilch. I agree the poll numbers seem odd, but I question who’s cranky about them.

Only in your mind. The Iowa contingent is all that counts in this first round of a 15 round card. Let ‘er rip!

It is hard to believe because Fred Thompson is barely ahead of Alan Keyes and Duncan Hunter and behind Ron Paul. Unless Thompson can win in South Carolina, his campaign is over.

The pollsters are decieving the public. Watch what happens on the Iowa caucus.

Tompster76, do you believe these bogus polls? 3%? Come on, Fred is probably closer to 20%. Serious question to you.

Good luck with that one Bobka, I think you have the name wrong. More likely to be Thompson than Romney. He is tanking with all his flip-flopping.

Prophet, Seer & Revelator President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

His disclaimers notwithstanding. If Romney is elected, this is the person that will actually control Romney. Do you really want the "prophet & seer" of mormonisn to control the country? At a minimum he will excerpt great influence. This is every mormon's dream come true. President Kennedy was not a devout Catholic and not controled by the Vatican, while Romney is most definitely a devout Mormon. The LDS in Salt Lake will excerpt great influence. Is Mitt Romney a phoney? No, his is a real deal Mormon - count on it.

Most conservatives I know are anti-abortion and want a faith filled compassionate leader.

Please understand the xenophobic Buccanan types are NOT mainstream.

We live in a culturally diverse world, it's just the way it is - all over the world. I understand the animal instict to feel hostility towards those different than us, but our reasoning should see beyond that.

Look at Tancredo, Buchanan, Duncan etc. They are too hostile and negative. Huckabee's polls prove my point.

I’ve seen no particular evidence that there’s an attempt by pollsters to deceive (seems an accusation generally from people annoyed their favorite isn’t doing well.)

It’s painfully difficult to predict the Iowa Caucus due to how it operates. Polls are going to have a difficult time with that.

However, on balance, if you look at an average of polls for any race (such as RealClearPolitics has) they’re going to end up reasonably accurate, for primaries, especially.

Polls aren’t rigged nor are they worthless. You just need to take them with an analytic grain of salt - and also, view them in a light other than “My guy doing badly - ITS RIGGED AND BOGUS; my guy doing well - GREAT POLL!”

Let’s hope that the Huckster can defeat Romney in Iowa and McPain defeats him in NH .

So, could you enumerate the policy areas and positions that Mr. Hinckley will influence President Romney to take? Maybe this influence would not be a bad thing.

Fred putting all his eggs in the Iowa basket looks like it’s turning out like I expected.

Waiting for the Keyes crowd to show up and start in on how his support has doubled.
