“Marijuana and crack cocaine were found in the house.”
If this mother of several was aware of drugs in the home then she is to blame.

It might not have been the best idea to storm the house when they knew infants were there?

I don’t like it, and I’m pretty darn supportive of the police.

--here we go again.

-- IMHO, all police SWAT teams should be disbanded and the members re-issued a . 38 Special with two speedloaders and a pair of brogans with soles about an inch thick and given a long beat to cover each shift, on foot--

His [Chief of Police] department late Friday asked the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation to handle the investigation to be fair to the community and his officers. The agency is under the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

Why does the town of Lima need a SWAT team? There are only 40,000 people in this town. Certainly a normal police force could handle all the problems that could crop up? In this case, it looks like a few para-milataries busted in a house and shot dead a mother holding a babe in arms. Then shot the babe.

I don't blame him for kicking this problem upstairs to the Ohio BoCI&I. It's just sickening when these things happen. And they are happening with greater frequency.

Tasers away, Leos.

There’s no good side to this but I’m slow to blame the police for everything when someone dies.

Say what you wish but there is plenty of blame for all parties.

As for the Mother of the deceased; how long before she’ll be surrounded by the Rev’s Sharpton/Jackson screaming to the tops of their lungs, Police Brutality?

Money, lots of it, will bring silence.

"... claims by Ms. Wilson's family that police had raided the wrong house ...."
"... Marijuana and crack cocaine were found in the house ..."

Oops.

"He denied police claims that Terry sold drugs from the house."
"Terry, who was convicted in 1994 on drug trafficking and weapons charges"

Oops, again.

No different than Waco, in my opinion. They could have picked this guy up off the street and then used a search warrant for the house.

Those bad-boy cops gotta have that adrenaline gush, though.

The cops involved with this murder should all be fired. Period. Sitting in your home and you’re gunned down by those who serve and protect. This crap has got to stop.

Lima has a bad drug reputation, which it deserves. And, we need a SWAT team because of the gangs. This happened in a drug infested area. The cop who killed her is devastated, as is the town. There was a demonstration last night, and they are calling for Sharpton and/or Jackson, though it wasn’t a racially motivated raid. The crack house had been under investigation for some time. What happened is unfortunate, and after a couple thousand like raids, this is the first time something like this happened. We won’t know what really went on until after BCI conducts its investigation. I live here, and hate what is going on.

I read the long article...Not one thing mentioned in regards to if the dead female was armed or had a gun. Not one.

That is generally an indication that the one shot was not armed.

"Ms. Wilson, the mother of six children, ages 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8, ...."

Was the term "Ms." used to avoid using the term Miss or unwed mother of 6?
Obviously, a productive member of society, except for a few missed opportunities to achieve a 100% broodmare rating.

" Two pit bulls that were inside the home also were shot by police, Chief Garlock said. One of the dogs died from its injuries."

In this neighborhood, in a house full of children - both an indicator and a bad idea.

"....Ms. Wilson was a stay-at-home mother who "took care of kids and went to bingo."

If Tanika Williams was a "stay at home mother" -- then her drug dealing boyfriend must be an Undocumented Pharmacist.
Since there is no mention that either Mother or "boyfriend" had a legitimate job - are we to assume the entire household was being enabled by the taxpayers?

"Junior Cook, Ms. Wilson's cousin and next-door neighbor, said police "broke down the door and started shooting." He denied police claims that Terry sold drugs from the house. "No one ever came and knocked on that door or bought drugs there," Mr. Cook said."

Obviously a trustworthy witness -- who offered no explanation of why drugs were found in the home...
Perhaps the drugs were sold ONLY on the street corner?

"Family members said Terry, who was convicted in 1994 on drug trafficking and weapons charges, had been dating Ms. Wilson for nearly two years.

Uh, when the "boyfriend" appears to be a live in -- do you still call it dating in that neighborhood?

What the police should do is just stay out of the hood. Let them kill themselves with their gang on gang murders, kill themselves with drugs. They don’t want the police there. Even when one black calls the police to come help them, others throw things at the police and tell them to “get out of the hood.” Fine. Stay out. Let them kill themselves. Let them burn it to the ground. Let them all die of drugs. Let them have what they want.

Stay out and the cops are "ignoring them". Go in and the cops are "terrorizing them".

Schizophrenic and totally unwinnable. Man, am I glad I'm not a cop...!

Back when I was a young kid, I used to think that SWAT squads were a good idea. I remember the old television series.

There is still a place for them, I’m sure, but unfortunately it seems that every LEA in the country has gone full-bore-gonzo with the idea. No knock warrants have abounded in the gleeful paws of nomex-clad-steroid-fueled-muscle-bound strumtruppen armed with the latest in flat-black 9mm death toys.

This, combined with the vile and unconstitutional practice of asset forfeiture, has gutted the constitutional protection against unlawful search and seizure.

It stinks, and there is no two ways about it.

"Lima on edge after police kill woman, wound 1-year-old child in drug raid"

It's the price we pay for having a society blessedly free of drugs.

Oh, wait...
