Rush: McCain's Pitch to Conservatives (McCain Huckabee Alliance)

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now McCain. This is funny. This is from Jonathan Martin, our old buddy the blogger at The Politico. “Styrofoam coffee cup in hand, John McCain came back toward the press section of his charter jet to indulge questions and allow the photogs to get some shots. Asked what he would say to conservatives still suspicious about his candidacy, McCain interrupted the question. ‘I say a very large portion of it, the conservative base, voted for me yesterday — I thank you,’ McCain said... ‘I will continue to expand that base.’ McCain cited two reasons — one old and one new — to make his case as to why Christian conservatives should get behind him. ‘A very large portion of the evangelical community is becoming more and more concerned about climate change because of our biblical obligation to be good stewards of our planet,’ McCain said. ‘That clearly is an issue that I’m in complete sync with the evangelical community on.’” Okay. Stop laughing, because this was a calculated statement — and the evangelical community? Why, I thought that was Huckabee’s!

But make no mistake: Governor Huckabee, at this stage, in my opinion, is in the race to take Romney out of the way for McCain. Just to hit off on this evangelical business, the thing Huckabee’s gotta understand is if you have made a deal with McCain behind the scenes, under the table, understand it’s one way, because McCain is going to throw you overboard as soon as he has to, Governor (laughing), when the time comes — and he’ll not remember the deal or it will get reshaped in his mind or somehow changed. McCain “also said he’d point out something that he’s not always been comfortable doing — that he’s voted the anti-abortion line for his whole career. ‘I’ll also try to make them remember that my social conservative record has been consistent and unchanging,’” and in that way he’s going to take out Rudy. So he’s going to try to get the Huckabee vote with the global warming route and try to get the evangelicals. He’s going to try to take Rudy out with his consistent abortion stand, which he’s not fabricating. He has been consistent on the pro-life issue.

‘I’ll also try to make them remember that my social conservative record has been consistent and unchanging,’”

Sarcasm on: That is why he consistently voted to undercut the first and second amendments of the Constitution.

Sarcasm off.

~”Scrappleface?”~

In any other climate, you would expect so. In this race, truth is in fact stranger than fiction.

"Rush does very little research apparently. McCain has not been consistent on the life issue."

Mark Levine did his homework and said on his show tonight that McCain voted with the Democrats AGAINST pro life judges. McCain also voted against the marriage amendment. A little google on McCain brings up McCain's liberal agenda through the years.

McCain supports Geneva treaty conventions for terrorist and supports congressional oversight military interrogations. I don’t call that being strong on national defense. As far as as opposing abortion, it was a position of convenience and has remained so.

McCain is opposed to lower taxes. He helped right McCain Feingold and supports Gay marriage, and amnesty (he doesn’t call it that any more).

McCain is a leftist.

Global warming/Cimate change is a scam to force us to pay undeveloped and underdeveloped nations 50 billion a year. The UN came up with a ridiculous formula that is based on comparing our population in the world to how much air pollution the U.S is responsible for producing.

I can’t remember now if it was Neil Boortz or Rusty Humphreys discussing this on the radio with a guest speaker but the first thing I thought of was why the formula wasn’t based on our population in the world compared to how much of the world’s wealth is produced by the U.S.

At-least that would be a more fair and accurate formula if the whole global warming thing wasn’t a scam in the first place, designed to make us pay out to third world countries. Now that McCain is so committed to this issue, he’ll have go along with his Democrat buddies to stick it to us and make us pay up for all the damage to the earth we’re being told we are guilty of.

It’s pathetically transparent what he’s trying to do. I simply cannot believe that Christians would be so stupid as to fall for it.

McCain will never get the Christian vote. McCain-Feingold purposefully took a lot of political power away from Christian organizations, and McCain is not pro-life. End of story.

This makes sense, both Huckabee and McCain are far left liberals.

And the MSM is pimping for both. How many times did you hear the 'Mac is Back' chant today ? Why was the unknown Huckabee all of a sudden given so much press ?

Yeah, just like Huckabee was working with Giuliani to eliminate the competition so Rudy could sweep to victory on Super Tuesday.

This one of the dumbest things El Rushbo has ever come up with. Huckabee and McCain may working together to set up a two-man race but there isn't any reason to believe that Huckabee can't beat McCain. I have no doubt both think they will beat the other.

Lauren, that’s the pic I was talking about!

McCain has what I’d call a “savior complex”. He is driven by a compulsion to feel like he is solving the great problems of the day and defeating the big enemies of the people. That is why we see him latching on to any media generated “crises” of the day.

Witness his campaign finance bill that was to save us from the heinous effects of the evil special interests and corporations that corrupt politicians at our expense. Never mind that corporations are made up of individuals with common interests, and that those individuals are citizens of this country as well. Climate change? Sounds like a good crisis to latch on to and save everybody.

Prediction: soon he will start talking about how he is going to save us from the evil pharmaceutical companies that are ripping us off.

Many Republican voters are not aware of that baggage, especially his teaming with John Kerry to betray Vietnam POWs and his legislation last year to designate our troops as torturers. There is more:
