The smoke Gestapo will use this one incident to justify their actions.

Oh come on! If her asthma was that bad why was she working out where she knew smoke was sure to be? Also, if her asthma was that bad and she cared about it she’d have been taking preventative medications plus have her emergency inhaler.

“He said a smoking ban could prevent future deaths.”
Without being to insensitive, how about carrying your inhaler, or maybe looking for another line of work? Go ahead and flame me.

Rosenman said the woman had asthma since age 2. Her asthma was poorly controlled. She had made four visits to her doctor in the year before her death for flare-ups, and had been treated in a hospital emergency department two to three times that year.
And yet she continued to work in a "smoky bar."

Since the drinking age is 21, what is a 19-year-old (at most) doing working in a bar?

Obviously something needs banning.

You would think after all that hard work and money spent on earning her waitress degree that the university of higher education she attended will refund some of the fees to someone in need.

” Smoky bar triggered fatal asthma attack “

Remember that the anti-smokers pioneered a lot of the “blame-everyting-on” tactics that the GW herd uses to such great effect.....

Waiting for headline that reads “Mass Transit Bus Fumes Triggered Fatal Asthma Attack”

Waiting....

Waiting.....

I don't have asthma, and yet I can't spend much time inside a smoky bar. I have to get some fresh air. Personally, I wouldn't work in a smoky bar.

If I had severe asthma, I sure as heck wouldn't get a job in a smoky bar. The young lady decided poorly. And now politicians will try and ban smoking. *sigh*

Although she had prescriptions for an assortment of drugs to prevent and treat asthma attacks, she was reported to only use them when she was having breathing difficulty. On the evening of her death, she had no inhaler with her. "

Anyone with a comparable history of asthma would not
a) conciously place themselves in an environment that may potentially trigger an asthma attack,
b) leave home without an albuterol inhaler in case of any emergency attack,
c) NOT use preventative medications, especially since they are so prevalent nowasdays

And, yes, I feel qualified to make these statements as I have a history of asthma/asthmatic bronchitis. I haven't had an attack for more than one year, but everyday I carry on emergency inhaler with me.

Oh brother...

This is like the article from a few years back that claimed hundreds of heart attacks had not occurred because of a one month old smoking ban.

One whiff and you're a stiff!

The issue isn’t whether tobacco smoke can trigger an asthma attack (it can; so can chimney smoke and perfumes) but whether smoking should be banned in private places on that account. It irks me when people who are strong advocates for a position deny reality in order to support their position.

I work part-time in a candle shop. During my interview they asked me if I WOULD BE ABLE TO WORK THERE given the strong aromas. Did anyone ask this lady if SHE WOULD BE ABLE TO WORK THERE? Do we have to ban candles now? Where’s personal responsibility?

“After about 15 minutes, she had an acute asthma attack and collapsed on the floor. The autopsy clearly indicates she died from asthma,” said Rosenman, who would not disclose the woman’s name or the precise place and time of her death for privacy reasons.

I smell a really bogus story here. Wonder what the ME had to say on the death certificate.

Oh where to start. First of all, poorly treated asthma. IOW she didn’t take care of her asthma. Second, she had been working there for awhile with no problems. My DIL has acute asthma. She does not smoke and no one smokes around her. I have had to call an ambulance for her twice for asthma attacks. She has spent time in ICU for her asthma. No SHS involved. Anything could have triggered her attack. This is more propaganda bull. Its just a way to get a death certificate with the cause of death SHS to use for their own propaganda.

My father who lived to the age of eighty had asthma from his early teen years until his death. He smoked for years, starting as a young adult and continued to do so for the rest of his life ... except for the last 6 to 8 years. Asthma aside, he enjoyed good health all those years.

Condolences to the family of this girl. With that said I find it disgusting how the anti-smoker cartel is and will exploit this event to further their socialistic goals.
