This video of Governor Huckabee's concession speech is about fifteen minutes long.
His wife cries, and he almost does too.

"Introducing first, to my right, fighting out of the red corner, wearing their Sunday best with a gold crucifix...weighing in at 810 and 1/4 pounds...the social conservatives, the religious right, the champions of family values...from the Southern States...The Evangelicals!" (wild applause)
"And in the blue corner, wearing an off the rack suit, Goldwater 64 lapel pin and a belt 2 sizes too small...weighing in at 141 pounds soaking wet...the fiscal conservatives, the last champions of limited government...from the Western States...The Libertarians!" (wild applause)
The winner of the bout gets to take on the Neo-Cons for the undisputed GOP Heavyweight Championship of the World!
True evangelicalism and true libertarianism are the same thing:
"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
--Second Corinthians 3:17
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here."

I think I’m finally understanding your posts (and from way back when I was really new last spring with the Disney post). You probably don’t recall that but I do since it was one of the first times I posted.

You hit abuse on the parody, unspun???
And the moderators agreed?
May I respectfully ask what EB did that was so horribly wrong — or was it a possible trademark/copyright problem?
Seriously, compared to some of the things I’ve witnessed here at FR at least this was well thought-out and an educated barb — unlike the petty backstabbing, name-calling, etc... that I see on many threads.
And, I still don’t get where a parody of a paid campaign shill posting at FR “besmirches” our names and what we do here! It’s common knowledge — and was even confirmed by the WHITE HOUSE — that they have staffers come to sites like ours and try to influence opinion (recall the Amnesty Debacle if you will, please). If anything, it’s making fun of those who are paid to post here — not the average FR member!
Not understanding this at all, frankly... Obviously I respect the moderators and above all Jim, but I honestly don’t understand how this was deemed offensive?

Plus in addition, many of these Romney delegates were won in states, no one but Ron Paul contested seriously.
2012 will be Huckabee v. Romney. Grab a chair, it’s going to be interesting.

I have to laugh at that picture as you’re comparing a guy who wants to rebuild the military to the level of GDP it was at under Ronald Reagan to Jimmy Carter.

True evangelicalism and true libertarianism are the same thing.
We agree. Less Government and more Jesus is good.
No action is truly genuine unless it is not coerced. That means people should quit smoking, quit drinking, take care of their bodies and not hurt others and commit crimes because the spirit of the Lord came down on them and showed them the way...
Not because Gubmint told them to.
The left wing believes that Government is God. In Saudi Arabia they believe that God is Government. They are both wrong.
You've seen what happens to religion in Socialist countries. There is no room for it. Allegiance to the State must prevail. Be careful what power you give to the Gubmint. They might use it to tell you that manger displays are verboten....oh wait.
There is a reason that smarter folks than us like Frank Meyer and William F. Buckley put us in the same party. Peace out.

I enjoy Eric Blair’s posts and he/she was one of the first threads I ever posted on (it was about Disney World). It was a wonderful discussion. He/she is one of the few names I can recall so I always enjoy reading what’s posted by him/her.

I’ve sinned. Sorry. Now I’m going to bed. He forgave a murderer on the cross, I’m sure Jesus will find it in his heart to forgive me.
Good night.

So, the race is over, time to slander him. Huckabee, in or out of the race doesn’t satisfy the huckahaters. The past of the GOP, not its future.

Congratulations, Mr. Huckabee for standing by your principle of running until the end, and for honorably conceding defeat.
(There was no shame in his not rolling over and not trying to compete with McCain).

It's weird how sometimes the 'character' of a thread's comments changes (sometimes the consensus on comments on a topic is in one direction, and then in another thread on the same topic, the consensus in is another).
Suspect that either: a)depends on the time of day, or b) freepers keep their hands (mouths) shut when the comments aren't on their side, and then chime in when they do. Sort of leads to lopsided threads, both ways. More should be such as this one, with a fair amount of comments for both sides.
For the record, agree that badmouthing Huckabee is bad taste. His running was completely legitimate. If McCain had to work a teensy bit harder, then that might just toughen him up for the big fight against the Democrat nominee.

People voluntarily chose to donate to him; it isn't akin to taxes.
And it isn't as if donors would be reimbursed.

I thought it a fine concession speech, and I am gratified that he did what he said he would do: once a candidate reached 1191 delegates he would quit. He accepted his defeat and graciously bowed out, offering to help get the nominee elected and battle for other party candidates. That is the way to do it.
To: Kurt Evans
My heartfelt condolences to the many Huckabee FReepers. Tonight is disappointing, I am sure. Thank you for your commitment and for voting your conscience, my FRiends.
