Don’t forget that the Olympics wouldn’t stage any of the events in Cobb County because they were afraid that the homosexuals would be offended if any of the competitions were staged there. Original plans called for a couple of the venues to be up there.

Think about it: When we believers speculate -- "This might have been God; That might have been God" -- we make God look bad. As the scripture teaches, speak from a position of knowledge.

Why do you think that wonders are called wonders?

Thanks for that added info about the location of the storm in Atlanta yesterday. How are things there today? Understand some more storms went throught GA - and then came on over to South Carolina, and Southern NC. We in Central NC got some bad lightning and welcome rain but no severe winds. It’s all blown of area now - but still warnings in Souhern NC Area south of Lumberton NC (near SC border) the news kept saying a tornado was likely going hit that area because of the hook signature on the radar...but haven’t read yet about what did it.

Thousands of people would have been out on the streets of downtown Atlanta if the game had not gone into OT.

30,000 were attending the SEC Tournament.

Two friends of my son’s were on the street in front of CNN when the tornado hit. All they could do was dive to the ground in a corner of a parking lot. Fortunately they weren’t hurt, but one of them had to have tiny pieces of glass removed from his hair.

I walked around Cabbagetown and the Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts today. It was amazing to see the destruction, huge trees down and major damage to buildings and no deaths, although one person is in critical condition.

Glad to know that everyone is O.K. Thank God there were no deaths either. The damage is devestating to see on TV and must be unbelievable to see in person.
Better believe I’ll be rooting for UGA tomorrow. That would be a great story within all the bad that your city has had to deal with. Besides no FReeper could EVER root for the state that gave us the Clintoons!
TAKE GOOD CARE!

Here is a short update on the storm that went through today. The second storm...

http://libertyrocks.wordpress.com/2008/03/15/stormsinga31508/
(12:00 a.m. CST - Sunday, March 16, 2008)

Another tornado touched down in Georgia today with the cell traveling the same path as the storm last night that injured at least 9 people - 1 critically (Click here to read this blog’s reports of last night’s violent storm.) It has been reported that at least 2 people have been killed in the tornado that went through today. Prayers for all those involved in both storms, especially the family, friends and neighbors of the people who have been killed.

See these places for more information on today’s storms:

Ch. 11 - 11Alive - Atlanta Georgia - http://www.11ALIVE.com

Ch. 11 also has picture galleries available that show the extent of damage from the storms -

PREVIOUS UPDATE:
Just under 10 minutes ago (11:39 a.m. CST) it was reported by a witness on FreeRepublic.com that sirens are going off in Marietta.(Thank you, FReeper higgmeister)

Updates on today’s weather in this area will be posted here as received.

Prayers for everyone in that region today, as strong to severe weather was already in the forecast before last night’s tornado in Atlanta.

For updates on the Atlanta Hurricane, please see this page here at The Liberty Rocks Blog: Strong Storm (Tornado?) Hits Atlanta - between 9 and 20 injured (different reports in different places on how many were injured) - 1 in critical condition (as of last update I personally heard.

I’m OK folks and thanks for your concern. My ISP (Newnan Utilities) was down from mid-afternoon till sometime during the night.

I heard from everyone around here that it got nasty late in the afternoon with hale storms but believe it ir not I napped through it all. Woke up to brilliant sunshine when my girlfriend called to tell me that a wicked storm had passed through the Thomas Crossroads area just minutes earlier. (Intersection of GA-34 and GA-154). It had to have gone past here because her sister who workson the other side of my apartment complex got it too.

There are stories about Saint Marys, Kansas, though...

And it is quite the opposite.

Back in the 1930s and 1940s, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Basketball team would stop in Saint Marys (college) to practice before going to the West Coast to play UCLA/USC in basketball.

In other words, it was a heavily Catholic town.

The story that is prevalent in this community is how tornados that have hit this area have tornados that will bypass the town.

Whether these tales are folklore or talltales, I don't know. But it is claimed that the local barber, a FreeMason, believed in the power of the Catholic Church because of the fact that so many storms have missed Saint Marys and destroyed other local towns...

Good to hear you are alright. I stopped worrying about you when AnAmericanMother said she had been down there and you were more then likely alright. Also, someone pointed out that the power might have gone out(close guess).

We saw that storm cross I-85 as we were starting north from Moreland.

The ones you can sleep through must be o.k.! (unless you're a very sound sleeper . . . )
