Chanting such slogans as "surrender is not an option" and waving American flags, a few hundred people from across the country rallied and paraded in downtown Washington yesterday to support the war.
The demonstration was sponsored by Eagles UP!, an organization founded by veterans in the wake of a war protest about a year ago that drew thousands to Washington. Although small in number, the demonstrators said yesterday that they represent many others from their home towns who believe there needs to be a more vocal counterweight to the antiwar movement.
"We cannot be the silent majority again," Lawrence B. Hoffa of Mequon, Wis., a retired Marine who serves as Southeast coordinator of Eagles UP!, said at the rally on the grounds of the Washington Monument. "We've got to get more people here. We've got to get people motivated."
Debbie Lee, whose Navy SEAL son Marc Alan Lee was killed in Iraq in August 2006, urged the demonstrators to stand up against antiwar organizations such as Code Pink, which she asserted are "trying to destroy our military."
"I've used my voice to speak out for the troops," she said. "I understand the sacrifice they've made and how they've blessed this nation."

Take that code pink or whatever you are!
Let me know who I contact to be a part of this. Tired of sitting on the sidelines.
Which isn’t to say I am not a hell of a cheerleader from the sidelines....
Ping!
I have also heard of a group called “Vet’s For Victory” a pro troop group...
Hey Kevin - the photo at the site was taken by our “buddy” today. He loved that shot. He also took pics of the little girl dancing while waving her little flag.
Are you thinking of “Vets for Freedom”?

I had a great time today. I met Just A Nobody, Saw Mr. and Mrs T again, and met ConcreteBob this weekend. I hope to be going back again in April for to show support for General Petraeus.
And it was great meting J.A.N. I am glad you made it. It was an honor because you are a great American!
These sites will keep you informed on when and where rallies are going on.
Looks like a beautiful day! Thank you for sharing the pictures. I would love to make it out there sometime in the near future...

If you are a vet, there are these:
Vets for Victory (you were right!)
It was a very beautiful day and all week rain was in the forecast, but I believe God shined on us today! Hope to see you there one day. We will be rallying in DC in April (looks like the first week of April) to support General Petraeus during while he speaks to Congress. Keep your eye on the Gathering of Eagles link here on FR. I am sure there will be something there when the date is known.
I am glad you were able to make it today and look forward to seeing you again next month! ;*)
I am sorry Just A Nobody, but you are far greater of a Patriot then I and the honor is all mine. And I will stand my ground on that too!
I am going to do my very best to be there in April. It will be on a Monday, I hear tell. But I will do what I can to be there and I am sure we will see each other again.
I want to take my kids to D.C. on vacation and Spring would be the most lovely time to do that.
I’ll be praying that we get the money to get our vehicle all fixed up (it’s safe, but not for long distance - we are in WI). Then perhaps we’ll coincide our educational field trip with the GOE Event! That would be a lot of fun - and an honor to meet all of you in person! In the meantime, I’ll be with you all in spirit whenever you’re out there standing up for our troops!
God bless you all, and thank you for your dedication!
God bless you and once again your support is much appreciated.
Amen!
