About That DC Protest Yesterday

Military Families Voice of Victory got a very interesting comment from an article about recruiting center attacks yesterday from coast to coast.

One of the cities reported about was DC "SDS threw paint bombs, rocks and damaged police cars. Witnesses have reported that MPDC Chief Cathy Lanier has ordered the police to do nothing if the center was attacked." This was from a report phone in which was also reported here at FR.

Today a response was made by Communications at MPD. "The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) must enforce local law and the rights afforded to every person under the United States Constitution. The law allows MPD personnel to make arrests only when there is probable cause to do so. The MPD cannot arrest every peaceful demonstrator for the sake of a few rowdy participants. There has not, and will never be a directive from Chief Cathy Lanier or a member of her command staff to do nothing when the law is being broken."

The trackback on the IP address checks out for a contact with the DC government.

It looks like complaints may have struck a nerve.

Doesn’t sound very peaceful.

Three lies in two sentences. Man, they’re slick. Wish I could shovel like that.

Classic misdirection by the MPD. Nobody is demanding that they arrest ALL the protesters, just the violent ones. How many of the rock-throwing protesters were arrested at the recruiting station?

Is it possible to get a couple of scanners and record radio chatter during these “peaceful” protests?

i’m sure the protesters use radios too, for that matter.

No it doesn't. The evidence pointing to the fact that it wasn't peaceful can be found on the DC Indymedia website itself. The left is bragging that they get away with trashing things.

Bureaucratic doubletalk in its purest form.

During the Ten Commandments rallies (I participated in a few), I saw children arrested for holding a sign too far over a police line. I was threatened with arrest if I dared to sit on the steps of the Supreme Court Building. At the Terri Schiavo rally in Florida, a little boy was arrested for trying to give her a glass of water.

But these people, throwing rocks and bottles, get a free pass?

Yes it is. It’s pretty bad when they are going from blog to blog to try to clear up a bad reputation.

I hear ya. This isn't going to just go away. People deserve to be kept safe from dangerous spoiled brats.

I remember seeing American University tear gassed when a couple of hundred students blockaded the traffic circle next to the school in the wake of Kent State.

I looked in the car next to me that was blocked and had the Sec. of Defense Mel Laird stare back. I got the hell out of there fast.

DC is creating a mess by letting SDS get away with so much.

At the Terri Schiavo rally in Florida, a little boy was arrested for trying to give her a glass of water.

After attending a GOP rally a few years ago ended we found a hundred or so jeering protestors had been allowed to block a sidewalks around the event hall. Instead of clearing a path for us to the parking lot the San Jose police basically said 'too bad, find another route' & we ended up weaving our way through traffic to get around the protestors.

Not exactly police brutality but it woke me up regarding the potential for political effect on law enforcement.

In other news; Larry Finklestien useing the demonstrations as cover was finally able to enter the FBI headquarters and destroy his file. Although he did singe his eyebrows later that night while burning that file.

Well, so MPDC Chief Cathy Lanier is a liar. What else is new?

The DC police force has long been among the most corrupt and incompetent in the country. They are famed for their inability to track down and arrest murderers, rapists, and robbers. DC has one of the highest violent crime records in the country, and one of the lowest conviction rates for these crimes.

Did we really expect the new mayor to bring us anything different?

Never will without pressure.
