Spot on, Judith Anne. Every point you made was excellent. And now, having failed at defying logic, we’re seeing hijacking attempts to bring the conversation around to something else. (I hope folks ignore them.)

It’s just a hijacking attempt. If we ignore it, it might not go away, but maybe we can keep our bloodpressure down. ;)

And I DID report the graphics, because they’re making a mess of my browser.

Confidence in polygamy search warrant now shaky.

Note, headline is a little misleading. Get into the body of the article, and it also says, "If it were true that the female who identified herself as Sarah is not really Sarah, I do not feel that would be enough to (invalidate) the search warrant," Palmer said.

It’s ruining the formatting AND it’s spam.

I'm confused.

Just HOW is it 'ruining the format'?

My screen resolution is 1280 * 1024 and it shows just fine.

Is your computer set (in Control Panel)for a lower resolution?

Not all of us have the newest gee-whiz supergizmo computers or monitors. Mine’s pretty old, and doesn’t run Vista. I’ve had to turn my graphics off for this site. That graphic doesn’t CRASH my computer, it just wrecks the picture making it hard to read the thread.

i have seen it on multiple interviews on tv, including on fox, of the earliest reporter who weened out from the officials about where the first “call” came from, which proved to be an unreliable source, to them, before they acted on what the source told them

hope it never happens to you

You’ll also protest repetitive anti-Mormon spam that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand of the FLDS, correct?... These threads are clogged with anti-LDS spam, but it seems like it’s only the LDS that get upset by it.

CYTD, you’ve already accused me elsewhere of “all Mormons all the time” – which now seems to be a broader accusation you’re making of a lot of folks on these fLDS threads.

What I don’t understand is…
(a) how can these posts be allegedly filled to the brim with Mormonism if the “official word” is that we’re not even talking about “Mormons” to begin with?
(b) why do you consider our posts about fundamentalist "Mormons" on fundamentalist "Mormon" threads to have anything to do with "Mormonism?"

Haven't you been taking copious notes at general conferences from your “prophet,” Gordon B. Hinckley? Here, allow me to cite him for you from a 1998 interview excerpt with Larry King (Sept. 8, 1998):

KING: But when the word [polygamy] is mentioned, when you hear the word, you think Mormon, right?
HINCKLEY: You do it mistakenly. They have no connection to us whatsoever. They don't belong to the church. There are actually no Mormon fundamentalists.

CYTD, we just don’t understand why you’re not parroting your “prophet?”

According to him, not only should you be opposing the so-called anti-LDS spam, but you should be opposing any & all references on these threads to fundamentalist Mormons even being labeled “Mormons.” So, according to your prophet, isn’t even any & all references on these threads to fLDS or fundamentalist "MORMONS"—aren’t those “anti-LDS” spam, too…given that the “word from above” is that there are actually no Mormon fundamentalists? (They just don’t exist) [Where's your consistency?]

Therefore, if I, or another poster is commenting about them, you see, according to Hinckley, we’re not commenting about “Mormons” at all! These are just e-phantoms, ghosts if you will, figures of our imagination. (Which makes us wonder…since the bulk of these posts are about supposed “non-Mormons” on threads totally titled to folks who aren’t "Mormons," then what brings you and other "The Only" Mormons here?)

Were you aware there was more than one call to the abuse hotline about FLDS?

So, according to your prophet....

Cofo, you should know the song and dance by now. They don't have to follow THAT prophet (Hinkeley) because THAT prophet has been declared DEAD.

They are only obligated to follow the LIVING prophet and as far as I can tell the LIVING prophet (whats-his-name) hasn't officially weighed in on this controversy.

“Were you aware there was more than one call to the abuse hotline about FLDS?”

yes

i was not aware that they thought they had sufficient probable cause for action, above a circumstantial suspicion

i did not see that they had what i would think a judge would expect to have for a warrant to search

i am not arguing that the evidence is not NOW there and that the suspicions were not accurate, as suspicions

only that i question if any of us would feel the same way if as little factual foundation was used to enter our home

Nondenominational Christian

So, you’re Catholic, then.

Since when has anyone ever tied..."Nondenominational Christian"....with being Catholic?

“only that i question if any of us would feel the same way if as little factual foundation was used to enter our home”

The CPS can act on anonymous phone calls.

So, whether we like it or not, they had some foundation, plus a history of convictions (warren Jeffs and his cousin, for example) and the fact that the Other SECTS had asked JEFFS to specifically stop the child bride practice, and he said his group would not.
Then we have women who escaped from the compound, and have told their stories. To CPS, to LE.
Read up on Carolyn Jessop. She is one of many.

So, it’s not just one phone call.

If the state took away the children of each and every 13, 14, 15 year old child who breed babies as a result of rape or just to have a little fun with or without the formality of a marriage contract, some of our cities would have to build massive orphanages. Those who wax indignant about these old style mormons should take a good look at the condition of child bearing in our slums. These kids never see their father and the father never sees or in any way provides support to his offspring. And I might had add the living conditions in violence, drug infested, roach infested housing, I dare say is a lot worse than that provided by this religious sect.

Good luck with that one!

I still read these for updates because I really don't like cults of any kind and am a firm believer that child abusers should be sentenced to general population in a Texas prison, but I have been accused of all of the above on various threads since this story broke because I raised questions or issues that did not meet the...

I'll stop, I need to mellow out so I think I'll watch hockey.

Also....

Use "C" as in "Capitol letters in front of sentences."

Good use of grammar carries you far.

Shop smart. Shopt S mart.
