The problem with voting third party (or not at all) instead of for McCain and O, Lord! I am tempted is that the Democrat may get in. The problem with voting for McCain as the lesser evil is that the RINOs will claim it's a vote for McCain and 'moderate' Republicans everywhere, declare a 'mandate' and go forth to govern like conservatives don't exist.
What to do?
Here's an idea: how about, instead of pulling the lever or punching the chad or filling in the arrow for McCain, we enter his name on our ballots as a write-in candidate? Should be possible in most states, keeps the Democrat out, provides evidence of how many conservatives are really unhappy with McCain and the party and may even, possibly, pull the RINOs up short.
Well, that last may be a bit too much to hope for but if we publicize the 'write-in' movement very clearly as a protest tactic, at least they won't be able to claim we're in their pocket.
Comments?
If you were a conservative living in AZ, watching McPain get more votes from Dems than Reps in election after election, you’d be cynical too. I take your remark as a compliment, thanks.
>>He already said there will be no amnesty. Regardless there was no amnesty even when it was tried for.<<
McCain and Kennedy will do well when there are enough people who will defend their sophistry.
Oh, I plan to vote. It's just that I'm going to cast a vote for a candidate as opposed to against one.
Do you really think that I’d fall for election-eve ‘changes’? A concession isn’t want I want. I want someone that is a conservative - not someone that has to make concessions to attract conservatives. Therein lies the problem.
And you forgot to mention that McCain said loud and clear during the debates that he would vote for the McCain-Kennedy amnesty again. He hasn’t changed one bit. Once he gets the power he’s been craving for years, he’ll show his liberal colors and continue pissing on conservatives. I expect to see a lot of disappointed posters here, if he gets elected. But there’s no reason for it because the reality is pretty obvious. Except for those that prefer to live in a pretend world where everything turns out their way.
LOL!
>Well, Im just glad that you and your buddies are in the extreme minority
LOL! Good one.
Yeah, that is why McCain is just rolling in money.
Because we are the extreme minority.
“Doesn’t really matter which one of the 3. BUT, we might be able to get a conservative in there in 2012 after a Dem presidency that was a failure.”
-
Your assumptions are dangerously naive.
Dems won’t be weaker in 2012. With an incumbent - they’ll be formidable.
McCain is not young enough to run again in ‘12. Republicans will have a very strong opening for a more conservative nominee - and everyone needs to start finding one. Pronto.
But we need to win and keep the Whitehouse first.
Giving away the biggest prize of all, voluntarily, is foolish. At best.
>McCain who is opposed to ethanol subsidies.
Of course he is.
He is promoting his Carbon cap and tax plan with his buddy Lieberman.
I saw Lieberman traveling around Florida working for McCain, largely under the radar at first, and I came to realize how common their outlook and interests have become.
Your point about his opposition to the drug plan is valid.
I don't think my pencil is capable of making all the left turns required to actually write "John McCain".
