Wake up Conservative Base!

Posted on 05/10/2008 9:11:06 AM PDT by RonnieFan

All indications are the Democrats will pick up seats in both the House and Senate, with the Senate likely being a couple of RHINOs away from the magic 60. McCain is no Reagan but he's the only thing standing in the way of the most liberal Senator in Senate becoming President with a clear majority in Congress and at a critical time with decisions to be made on the war on terror, the war in Iraq, heath care, taxes, illegal immigration and likely the Supreme Court.

Sometimes you do have to pick the lesser of two evils. This is one of them. I am fully aware that I'll be let down by McCain on some key issues but I know I'll be let down on all of them if Obama is President.

Oh great, another “vote for the lesser of two evils” thread. These are about as bad and redundant as the anti-Rush threads. Since I doubt Obama will pick Mrs. Clinton as his running mate, I’ll let her supporters vote for McCain, and sit this one out.

“Soros is spending millions for paid operatives to infiltrate FR and other forums and blogs in order to create dissatisfaction and suppress the Republican vote.”

With that backstabber as the nominee, Soros need not waste his money, Juanito has it handled.

Eurale, I understand folks that oppose him on certain issue, I do myself, but when it comes to the WOT, Supreme Court Judges, taxes, and the life issue, it aint even close.

Then when they actually cite McCain military record as being treasonist.

I’m with you. McCain gets my vote. Attempts to punish or transform the GOP by staying home or voting third party are just too risky. America can survive a McCain presidency. The America we know would be unrecognizable after a Clinton or Obama reign of terror.

“Wow, check it out, another newbie telling us we’re Soros-paid trolls unless we shut up and/or support McCain.”

Since “newbie” is supposed to be an insult in this forum, and you apparently believe that tenure is somehow connected to qualified opinion, then you must either be a union member, government employee or a tenured academician?

BTW, I couldn’t care less about who you vote for or don’t.

The big problem with McCain is that we just don't like the SOB. With the exception of immigration and CFR, I don't have problems with most of his positions. I can almost get to the point where I'm saying, okay, I can do this. Then I see him.

If McCain and Bill Belichick had a personality contest, there might not be a winner.

I believe that is correct. The Republicans are going to suffer a bloodbath this fall. Blame it on McCain. Voters will be staying away from the polls in large numbers.

You can't just concentrate on the House and Senate. The national Presidential election will drive the issues and if the base stays home where there's not a key house or senate race, it will give Obama a big victory and the ability to claim a mandate. Then really look out!

Right . What a way to sell a candidate. It's mccain or death ! Forget that old fart . Spend time and money on the house and senate. Thats were the power will be , no matter which one of these posers slithers in

AGreed. F___ MacCain and f___ the GOP. I'm a conservative and will no longer support leftists.

First, MacCain always says what he thinks will draw the largest support, but then turns around and screws over his supporters. MaCain doesn't give a s__t about the country beyond his ability to get what he can from it.

Second, even if he's elected, he's going to be a very, very, very, very, very weak President and a one termer at that. So, in order to maximize his "legacy", within weeks of being inaugurated he'll play Monica to Teddy Kennedy and embrace the left's policies. Meanwhile, while the MSM excitedly pants about how he's grown in office and how the country has reached a new more mature spirit of bi-partisanship, conservatives will, yet again as ALWAYS has happened with MacCain, be left out in the cold.

The last time the GOP put up a good candidate was Reagan in 1984. For the least 24 years they've forwarded only mediocrities, and if we'd demanded quality from them since they first foisted the half-wit Poppy Bush on us in 1988, we wouldn't be in this mess today.

I hear ya Faith, we are talking about two Supreme Court Judges in those 4 years.

As it is now we are lucky to have a shaky 6-5 in the SCOTUS.

With the dems in power you and I BOTH know that if the backstabber is POTUS, Ted Kennedy is picking the judges.

Precisely!

I know, you just want to come on here and tell us to shut up unless we support the useless RINO McCain.

Hey Faith, take a look at some of the sign on dates when you run into one of those real real negative posts.

When I see them signing on less than a year ago, red flags go up.

Here's our situation. The dims control the senate. Anyone Obama picks is sailing through. Obama showed his stance on SCOTUS by voting against John Roberts and fillibustering Alito. He said this to Planned Barrenhood.

"We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges."

Right now, McCain's judicial advisers are Ted Olson and Dan Coates (Indiana Senator before idiot Bayh). He voted for Thomas, Alito, and Roberts. Now McCain is not my first choice (Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter), nor was my last, (Giuliani and Huckabee). We COULD get good judges by him. We WON'T by Obama. That's why I'm voting for McCain.

It may not be inspiring, but the fear of Obama’s leftist policies is enough to motivate me.

Therein lies the problem. Most people aren't this engaged in politics. They show up to vote BECAUSE they are inspired. McCain does not inspire. Not one bit.

“Screw McCain, and screw anyone trying to coerce, threaten or cajole a vote for that bastard. He doesn’t deserve it.”

It seems like you are saying that OBAMA DESERVES TO BE PRESIDENT. Because that’s the choice: McCain or Barack Hussein Obama.

Soros is spending millions for paid operatives to infiltrate FR and other forums and blogs in order to create dissatisfaction and suppress the Republican vote. Why would someone rant on about not voting for McCain unless the objective is to get others to do the same.

So, how do I get a hold of Soros and how much is he paying? After all, whyever should I voice my opinion against MacCain for free when Soros will pay me for it???? {/sarcasm off}

But seriously, to make a good tin-foil hat to block the thetans from stealing your brainwaves, do you have to use brand name foil or will generic work?
