Wake up Conservative Base!

Posted on 05/10/2008 9:11:06 AM PDT by RonnieFan

All indications are the Democrats will pick up seats in both the House and Senate, with the Senate likely being a couple of RHINOs away from the magic 60. McCain is no Reagan but he's the only thing standing in the way of the most liberal Senator in Senate becoming President with a clear majority in Congress and at a critical time with decisions to be made on the war on terror, the war in Iraq, heath care, taxes, illegal immigration and likely the Supreme Court.

Sometimes you do have to pick the lesser of two evils. This is one of them. I am fully aware that I'll be let down by McCain on some key issues but I know I'll be let down on all of them if Obama is President.

McCain would NOT support his bill from 2006

But I suppose you'll just label him a "flip-flopper" like you've never changed your mind ever. Just like President Reagan - who actually SIGNED INTO LAW AMNESTY - changed his mind. I guess he was a gutless flip-flopper, too?

So in McCain's own words:

"....I will have the border state governors certify the borders are secured. Then we will move onto the other aspects of this issue,...."

So John McCain will allow Huge Open Border Democrat losers like Janet Napalitano and Bill Richardson and open border RINOs like Rick Perry and Arnold make the decision as to when the border in AZ is secure?

And you do not think that as far as they are concerned the border isn't already secure enough?

Who do you think you are trying to fool?

".... I come from a border state, where we know about building walls, and vehicle barriers, and sensors, and all of the things necessary..."

So once again, we have a GOP quisling who thinks he can pass off vehicle barriers and a "Virtual Fence" as a fence that will actually stop the Illegals and you want to call that border enforcement?

And finally, please don't bring President Reagan into this and try to use him as a foil for McCain's horrendous history and current position on this issue.

Michael Reagan is already publicly on record stating that his father felt that the Amnesty bill was his one big mistake and if he had to do it over again he would have handled it totally differently.

I think the moral of the story here is that you simply don’t get it. Don’t feel too bad, though - you’re far from the only one. There are a whole lot of so-called “conservative” dimwits here who share your hope of installing Hillary or Obama in the White House.

So once again, when they have lost the argument or you have reasoned them to a standstill, or for whatever reason, the best they can do is to pull out the ol' you must be voting for Hillary Red Herring.

To me it is quite instructive of the both the intelligence level and and level of honor of the person making the accusation.

You are lucky, I have been accused of smelling like a rat and of being a DU plant in the last several days.

What this brainiac has accused you of is mild in comparison.

I just keep this in mind; if I had to go about my day defending that gigantic POS as they do, I’d be pretty obnoxious as well.

“Then stop telling me what’s wrong with McCain.”

LOL! Not gonna happen. But I find it...revealing...that so many McCainiacs seem to have the same disregard for free speech as their candidate. Birds of a feather, I suppose.

As for what I’m doing November 4th, for the first time in my life, I’m not voting for the Republicans straight up and down the ticket. I’ll write in, or less likely, go third party, and vote for conservative Republicans, if I can find any, downticket. They’re not exactly thick on the ground here in FL these days.

IIRC, McCain was holding out for spending cuts. He was correct about that.

Thanks for the insults. I’m sure all of the people who have been here for around a year are just true conservatives who couldn’t possibly vote for McCain on principle. I don’t know if you’re an infiltrator or not, but it’s logically clear that they exist on this site.

I also noticed you didn’t respond to any of my arguments. That’s a nice touch when you’re insulting me. If you’re going to do that, I’d like for you to explain how somebody actively campaigning against McCain is not helping Hillary or Obama.

This election is not a referendum on Reagan; it is a referendum on McCain. But since you insist on trying to promote McCain by tearing down a dead man who can't defend himself, I'll do it for him.

"OK, how about the Boren-Goldwater bill to limit campaign financing a la McCain-Feingold? Never made it to President Reagan's desk (died in the House), but he supported it."

Boren-Goldwater didn't directly limit free speech before an election, nor can I find, despite extensive research, any indication that Reagan supported it.

"McCain-Leiberman? How about President Reagan supporting and endorsing the Venice Economic Summit (1987) including its calls to..."

He attended the summit, but I can find no indication in his June 15, 1987 speech to the American people about the summit where he supported any of that. In fact, he didn't even mention it. He did, however, get the Euros to agree with much of HIS agenda.

"It appears that you forget some of the actions of Reagan..."

I haven't forgotten what never happened. You are attempting to revise the history of the Reagan years to make McCain's conservative apostasy palatable. It will not work. Presidents compromise, and even Reagan didn't not govern 100% conservately, nor do we have the right to expect that. But as you said in your post, Reagan worked with the Democrat-controlled Congress to get HIS agenda, not their agenda, through. McCain's agenda, in key policy areas, IS THE SAME AGENDA as the Democrats.

McCain's all puckered up, on his knees, sucking up to illegals like a dry drunk with his mouth glued to a beer keg.

Thanks for the visual. This one's a keeper.

But McCain, with his gang of 14, destroyed the opportunity by forming an alliance with democrats.

If you want to predict the future study the past. If you want to know how a potential hire will behave, study his employment record. And, with his history of lies and betrayal, that MacCain is a backstabber is patently clear.

“THIS LEGISLATON JUST PASSED IN ARIZONA—JUAN’S HOME STATE: Juan McCain better wake up and smell the enchiladas.”

McCain came out against Prop. 200 in Arizona and led Kolbe and Kyl with him to oppose it. How soon they seem to forget.

The GOP actually wants to get rid of us, which is why the “end-run” around us and mega pandering to the middle-Left.

Only problem, since they adopted this “strategy”, their bank accounts are quite empty, (Looks sort of like the noon take at a high school bake sale) While on the other hand the Democrats treasure chest would rival the Federal Welfare budget.

If you want to predict the future study the past.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

In Juan, I keep getting ugly flashbacks of lisping loser Giuliani. I kept saying "a look at Rooty's past was a glimpse into future."

As NYC Mayor, The RINO creep worshipped abortion, gays, gun grabbing, and all the ugly permutations of liberalism.

And his mistress wasn't the only one he was sticking it to.

He stuck it to his wife--the jerk announced to the press he was divorcing her without even telling her, or his children, beforehand.

He stuck it to taxpayers---hiding his mistress' upkeep in obscure city agencies.

The jerk even tried to stick it to conservatives-----but failed. Rooty has now achieved cult status for running the stupidest campign in US history.

Keep in mind, the Giuliani handlers have switched to McCain.

Watch Juan when he talks about his beloved Hundred Year War, amnesty/SW giveaway, religious cleansing of the party, and kicking conservatives to the curb. Juan's posture changes----like his leash is being tightened.

mountainbunny: McCain clearly doesn’t feel he needs conservatives, so why would we waste our vote on him? If he’s correct, good on him. If it turns out he didn’t need our vote, nothing's lost.....If he’s wrong... well, I bet the GOP won’t try to mess with the base again.

Nice take, MB. Now some conservatives have opined that we, the Republican base, are in such a funk/depression over McC's outright betrayal, we're just rolling over and waiting for the final blow.

As for me, well..... I hate to be the ones to burst McC's little dream bubble (/sarc) ......but he will not be rolling over us. McC is sadly mistaken if he thinks he can roll over conservatives, and still win.

MEMO TO MCCAIN: Conservatives have not yet begun to fight. McQueeg better understand---before it's too late----that conservatives have not yet deployed the heavy political ammunition. And its not gonna be pretty. We shall see who, in fact, delivers the "final blow."

Listen up, Senor Juan. "Saying" you will name conservative judges is chump change compared to what you MUST to do to court conservatives. These are our terms.

DEMAND ONE We demand Juan name conservatives with proven credentials to top positions in his campaign.

DEMAND TWO Juan must lose Hernandez, the Azatlan sucker attached to his campaign.

DEMAND THREE Juan MUST denounce Reconquista NOW in all print and brodcast media venues.

Then we'll talk.
