Mayor Nutter this morning said the National Rifle Association owed an apology to the family of slain police officer Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.
Nutter recently signed five local gun bills into law, including one that would outlaw the possession and sale of certain assault weapons. The NRA immediately sued the city on the grounds that the city does not have the authority to enact local gun control. They obtained a temporary restraining order to keep the city from enforcing the new laws.
Liczbinski was killed with a Chinese-made assault weapon.
"I think it's insane," Nutter said. "The fact that we put forward a piece of legislation to prevent the sale and use and transfer of assault weapons and have a Philadelphia police officer assaulted on the streets with one, I think makes it pretty clear to anyone who is confused about this issue that there's no reason for any citizen, any person other than in law enforcement or in the military to have such a weapon."
He added: "There's no legitimate argument by the NRA, they need to get in the real world where the rest of us live and come to grips with these kinds of issues. They owe an apology to the family for their staunch opposition over many, many years blocking legislative support for these kinds of matters."
We called the NRA for response and will update when we hear back.
Nutter also said that Eric Floyd -- one of three suspects in the case who remained at large last night -- should turn himself in.
"He needs to turn himself in as quickly as he can. He knows that we're looking for him.He knows that we know who he is, what he looks like," Nutter said.

Pepole like Nutter put too much effort into their war on guns while the criminals are getting a pass.

If outlawing the guns works so well, why doesn’t Philadelphia just outlaw homicide?

"...into law?" That's into "ordinance." Municipals are getting a little too big for their breeches, thanks to lack of resistance against the various municipal lobbies. Not that it will matter so much, after a few more Middle East nations have their nukes (due to further lack of opposition from our Nation against those activities).

Bookmark these maps because they show where violent homicides in the US is originating from.
__________________________________________________________________
These maps are from the article titled "Anti-gun Promo Blackfires"
I think perhaps it should have been entitled, "The African Americans are slaughtering each other in our US Cities"
Baltimore PROPER, which is reflected on the map is 64.34% Black or African American, 31.63% White.

These Baltimore Sun maps show a terrible problem but do not clarify who the murderers are.
Baltimore Sun map of PEOPLE murdered, 2007:

Baltimore Sun map of BLACKS murdered, 2007: (264)
_________________________________________________________
Baltimore Sun map of WHITES murdered, 2007: (12)
Of the 12, 6 were killed downtown while probably buying drugs. _________________________________________________________

And BTW, without “guns,” human beings wouldn’t reproduce.

The fact that we put forward a piece of legislation to prevent the sale and use and transfer of assault weapons”
As I recall, the perp used a plain jane SKS, which never has been an “Assualt Weapon” and was never on any “assault weapon” lists. The mayor and his ilk just lie and lie and lie, and the media lets them get away with it.

don’t care what it looks like. if it can’t fire burst or full auto but only single shot it is NOT and assault weapon. a ruger mini14 and an ar-15 look totally different but fire the same round single shot.

I think it's insane for a person to believe that one who would violate a law against murder would hesitate one instant in violation of a law against a gun of any sort. Tell me where I'm wrong.
I think it's insane for an official to violate Federal and State law to establish his own desires to be enforced by "might makes right" to expect any citizen to follow any law whatsoever.
Mayor Nutter's arrogance and attitude make it all the more urgent for the law abiding citizen to own assault weapons. He is a disgrace.

I recently took delivery (more than a 1 year wait) of a .50 air rifle. It fires (shoots/propels) a .495 ball at about 850 fps with 2500 ft pounds of knock down. Its filled from a scuba tank.
My other guns are .357 Python and a couple of Glocks plus several Smiths. Five A-5 Brownings (don't ask why) and an assortment of Chipmunks, Mounties, etc., in .22 cal. The Python is cleaned and officially retired.

Perhaps. But they are so abysmally *proud* of their ignorance.

Is Mayor Nutter going to apologize for his city that creates thousands of criminals each year and allows them to prey on society?
Beyond an apology, what will Mayor Nutter do to stop the cycle of criminal creation?

Philadelphia, “ The City of Brotherly Love” has managed to attain a “kill “ rate of at least one or more per day per year to finish above 365+ for last two years .

"dont care what it looks like. if it cant fire burst or full auto but only single shot it is NOT and assault weapon. a ruger mini14 and an ar-15 look totally different but fire the same round single shot."
Agreed. Well, it's not automatic, if it's only semi-automatic.
But then there will always be assault weapons (that is, weapons with which to assault). They can even outlaw chickens, oil, gas and cars, but there will always be weapons (see tagline). The only distinguishing characteristics between defense and assault weapons are the morality or immorality behind their uses.
Spoiled rotten behavior--immorality--is what needs to be outlawed. If people want a more ideal world, people need to outlaw those who refuse to consider consequences and who lobby for laws that are beside the point. Our Baby Boomer generation and subsequent generations are spoiled rotten.
Our US laws were moral first (see Puritans, Quakers tied to "carttail" whipped, sent home,...), but more recently, Roman (see old Europe, religious edicts, corruption,...).

If Nutter wanted to stop gun violence, hed get tough on crime. Maybe hes afraid some of his relatives would go to jail.”
Given that “Nutter” is a Democrap, have you any proof he is not another in the long line-up of un-indicted Democrap criminals?
The “Uncertainty Principle” requires that we take action even in the absence of proof - therefore Prosecute Nutter!
It couldn’t hurt, it might help, and it would be sooooo much fun.
