As I recall, the perp used a plain jane SKS, which never has been an “Assualt Weapon” and was never on any “assault weapon” lists. The mayor and his ilk just lie and lie and lie, and the media lets them get away with it.

I think it's insane for a person to believe that one who would violate a law against murder would hesitate one instant in violation of a law against a gun of any sort. Tell me where I'm wrong.

I think it's insane for an official to violate Federal and State law to establish his own desires to be enforced by "might makes right" to expect any citizen to follow any law whatsoever.

Mayor Nutter's arrogance and attitude make it all the more urgent for the law abiding citizen to own assault weapons. He is a disgrace.

I recently took delivery (more than a 1 year wait) of a .50 air rifle. It fires (shoots/propels) a .495 ball at about 850 fps with 2500 ft pounds of knock down. Its filled from a scuba tank.
My other guns are .357 Python and a couple of Glocks plus several Smiths. Five A-5 Brownings (don't ask why) and an assortment of Chipmunks, Mounties, etc., in .22 cal. The Python is cleaned and officially retired.

Agreed. Well, it's not automatic, if it's only semi-automatic.

But then there will always be assault weapons (that is, weapons with which to assault). They can even outlaw chickens, oil, gas and cars, but there will always be weapons (see tagline). The only distinguishing characteristics between defense and assault weapons are the morality or immorality behind their uses.

Spoiled rotten behavior--immorality--is what needs to be outlawed. If people want a more ideal world, people need to outlaw those who refuse to consider consequences and who lobby for laws that are beside the point. Our Baby Boomer generation and subsequent generations are spoiled rotten.

Our US laws were moral first (see Puritans, Quakers tied to "carttail" whipped, sent home,...), but more recently, Roman (see old Europe, religious edicts, corruption,...).
