About the Washington Post Hit Piece on Free Republic Today
Saturday, June 28, 2008 | Kristinn

The Washington Post published an article today in the Style section about researcher Danielle Allen's efforts to track down who is behind allegations that presumed Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Hussein Obama (Illinois) is a Muslim. Allen is an Obama supporter who works for the Institute for Advanced Study.

The article was written by Matthew Mosk. A curious choice for The Post considering Mosk's involvement in the nefarious MD4Bush scandal in which Mosk claimed to have been given access to a Free Republic poster's account to expose a Maryland GOP government appointee who was alleged to have commented on rumors that a Maryland Democratic mayor was an adulterer.

Mosk displayed the same talent for exposing Freepers' identities in today's article that he did in the MD4Bush scandal. However, the only person he exposed then was the Republican. The person (or persons) behind the MD4Bush screen name was not reported by Mosk.

The article Mosk wrote today purports to be about efforts to track down where the 'Obama is a Muslim' allegations began. However, it is actually a warning shot across the bow to opponents of Obama that they will be tracked down and exposed for speaking ill of the Obamessiah.

Mosk even makes sure to let Obamaniacs know who is behind Free Republic and where he can be found:

Of the file folders that are spread in neat rows across Allen's desk, only one is bulging. It holds printouts of the reams of conversations about Obama's religion appearing on Free Republic. Since its start in 1996 by Jim Robinson of Fresno, Calif....

The effort by The Post to protect Obama from rumors is in stark contrast to how they promoted potentially candidacy-damaging rumors eight-years ago.

When George W. Bush ran for president in 1999, The Washington Post led the way in rumor-mongering about whether he used cocaine in his youth. Bush refused to deny cocaine use saying that denying rumors just leads to having to deny more and more rumors. No one ever came forward with allegatons that they had first-hand knowledge of Bush using cocaine, but that didn't stop The Post and the mainstream media as painting Bush as a cokehead. No reporter ever asked Bill Clinton about cocaine use, even though several people known to Clinton claimed to have first-hand knowledge of Clinton using the drug while in public office.

While Mosk ignores The Post's own rumor-mongering, he leaves the impression of Free Republic as the rumor mill of the right. A fair reporter would have noted that Freepers exposed the fraudulent Texas Air National Guard documents that CBS News used in its attempt to derail President Bush's reelection bid in 2004. Buckhead, the Freeper who called foul on the documents, was tracked down by the Los Angeles Times even though he did not post his name on Free Republic.

Mosk's article closes with Allen complaining that the Internet has become as influential as unions and political action committees (PACs) in elections. Unstated is that the political activities of unions and PACs are heavily regulated by the federal government.

Allen seriously misunderstands the right to anonymous political speech--equating political speech with the right of a citizen to face his accuser when charged with a crime by the government:

..."This kind of misinformation campaign short-circuits judgment. It also aggressively disregards the fundamental principle of free societies that one be able to debate one's accusers."

While Mosk and The Post are furiously protecting Obama from the Obama is a Muslim allegation, they steadfstly refuse to report on Obama's well-documented connection to the terrorist supporter and Osama bin Laden sympathizer, Jodie Evans, co-founder of the anti-American group Code Pink.

The Post article claims that the Internet's danger to politics is the ability to spread rumors anonymously. The real danger is the left's willingness to use the Internet to track down and destroy its perceived enemies. Allen and Mosk's teamwork exposing Freepers is one more example of that.

If we were insignificant, then why would they go after us?

They are still pissed off about 2004 and Dan's unravelling.

Very curious misunderstanding of what FR is. While some here have claimed BHO is a Muslim, others of us have challenged them to produce proof, whereupon a vast silence reigns.

There are many and varied reasons to oppose BHO. When one is posed that is easily dismissed, as is this one, it discredits future questions, especially from the same source.

Questioning whether he is a Muslim is perfectly legitimate. Claiming that he is without something resembling evidence is not.

LOL! I guess he’s just a throw away now - he outdid his usefulness. He turned his back in ‘93, instilled PC to silence truth, morals be damned - brought this country down where the libs wanted it.

How accurate can anything the media reports be if they're exposing Kristinn as a spokeswoman?

LOL now that you question their accuracy, you will be under their microscope

I read that he’s so angry that he said Obama would have to “kiss his a$$” if he wanted Bubba’s support.

Then McCauliff was on TV this morning saying that Bubba isn’t angry.......snort!! Lol

Although Obama attended Pastor Wrights very bizarre church for 20 years, he has never actually said that he was baptized. He has said—at least until he started to throw his church under the bus and announced that he was taking a vacation from attending any church—that he was a “member” of Wright’s church.

But it has been established that Wright’s church lets people become members without requiring them to be baptized, the one essential for being a Christian. And his church—which has intimate connections with the Black Muslim movement—has also said that it welcomes Muslims as members—no need to convert, no need to be baptized, just come and sing along and cheer at those racist sermons.

I agree. I am so tired of lecturing the “teach the GOP a lesson” crowd. And the second part of that is - somehow the Republican voters need to be able to hang together and fight even though the man elected is not their personal slave on each and every issue.

Just look at how the democrats work. No matter what goes against them, no matter what they lose - they gain somewhere else, they do not destroy their own and they just keep on moving their agenda forward. Then look at us. All are continually trying to one up each other over who is more conservative, the president is merely a batting toy for them and the one they use to make their macho statement .....he will lose my support if.......

What support - there is never any support with conservatives.

Very interesting - thanks for posting this explanation.

I think most do stick to the issues - the other stuff is just ranting.

Of course no matter what we do, they will play it to their benefit by lying - as always.

This is the same old game we fell for on so many issues - “oh, don’t do that the democrats will say ........”

In reality - it is a form of control of our actions because of the fear of their continual reaction to our actions.

Instead, we should just ignore their complaints because we will get those complaints no matter what we do as the root cause is power and the quest for power.

But, I agree - we waste time, clout, on the rumors and diminish our credibility by getting sidetracked into them.

If we continually ignored the ravings of the democrats to whatever we do, and proceed in a strong forceful manner in the right direction, we leave them chattering on the sidelines as we direct the attention to the areas needing attention. We also downplay the value of their complaints if we proceed with our actions.

An example of this is Hannity & Colmes whenever a conservative candidate begins making a point. You will notice how Colmes reacts. He begins interrupting with side issues and questions to PREVENT THE POINT BEING HEARD. If this does not work, he will do the chattering that overtalks the guest. Last resort - he calls for a commercial.

This is the tactic of the democrats to prevent our message being heard. Your points above are another version of this same ploy. Redirect the conversation, the conservative’s points or actions to prevent the true message being seen.

I am so tired of lecturing the “teach the GOP a lesson” crowd.

Those who put PARTY before COUNTRY do not serve the best interests of America. They are as bad as the worst of the Democrats who celebrate defeat in Iraq.

What support - there is never any support with conservatives. Bingo! That's the one lesson that anyone seems to have learned when we gave away the House and the Senate and so many State posts in 2006. So the candidates chose to go after swing voters, cross-overs, and independents.

Not talking about party before country - but I am talking about stupidity versus reality; the possible versus pie-in-the-sky; teamwork versus splintered agendas conflicting with each other splintered agenda.

There is no honor in allowing the enemy any win - especially to teach anyone a lesson.

Our country is in a critical, critical time and it takes a person of wisdom to realize that the small gains add up to movement in a direction - either for the enemy or against the enemy.

We are not talking about pure conservatism in this election - there will be none. Thanks to the “teach the GOP a lesson” crowd and thanks to all who will never support any person on our side unless they agree 100% each and every day with each and every decision.

So all can sit home all they want and wait for others to do the work to bring about any stoppage to the massive onslaught of communism, socialism, take-over of the country by interests that will insure there will never be a conservative in power again.

Your choice.
