Barack Obama has lost ground among some of his strongest bases of support, including young people, women, Democrats and independents, according to a new ATV/Zogby poll.

The Illinois Democrat has also lost some support among African-Americans and Hispanics, where his lead over Republican John McCain has shrunk, and among Catholics, where he's lost his lead.

The net result, pollster John Zogby found, is a race that's neck and neck, with McCain supported by 42 percent; Obama by 41 percent; Libertarian Bob Barr by 2 percent; and independent Ralph Nader by 2 percent. Another 13 percent supported other candidates or were undedcided.

Especially celebs with no substance.

I hope your summary is right. I suspect it is.

The word is leaking out slowly on how Barak would not even support The Born Alive Act when he was a state senator.

I know last week we had 3 christenings at our parish. Our priest implored us all to pay attention closely at the life issue when it is time to vote.

He reminded those who needed reminding that "We are a people of life."

Someone with a DU account post the Zogby poll here

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=132

They are already depressed over the McCain surge, this will be icing on the cake.

My DU account got closed =)

Good point. The key for McCain is to get Obama out there in unscripted events. The more this man speaks, well the more he sounds like a fool.

The worship of Obama has always been a media creation. More and more people are catching on. Let’s remember he didn’t exactly finish off Hillary convincingly. He got trounced in a number of states even after the press crowned him the nominee. The man cannot close the deal, he is all hat and no cattle. His biggest blunder is presenting the voters with an “all or nothing” candidacy - he is either the promised Messiah delivering change, security and solving all the world’s ills, or he is a preening charlatan.

America also tires quickly of celebrities with over exposure

I don't know about that. Britney Spears and Madonna have been over-exposed for years, and they still get more press than the President of the United States does.

They patina of coolness is very thin. The “young” are the least likely to show up at the polls..........................

Among Catholics, Obama lost the 11 point lead he had in July and now trails McCain by 15. This does not surprise me.

WOW! a swing of 26 points in less than a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...............

If these numbers hold even vaguely, it will be just as i have said over and over again. This guy is barack mcgovern and the internals from zombie's poll shows it:

The Illinois Democrat has also lost some support among African-Americans and Hispanics, where his lead over Republican John McCain has shrunk, and among Catholics, where he's lost his lead.

IMAGINE HOW BAD THESE NUMBERS MUST BE FOR THEM NOT TO SHOW THEM!!!!!!

The net result, pollster John Zogby found, is a race that's neck and neck, with McCain supported by 42 percent; Obama by 41 percent; Libertarian Bob Barr by 2 percent; and independent Ralph Nader by 2 percent. Another 13 percent supported other candidates or were undecided.

Numbers like these show zombie has slammed his thumb on the scales and still could only get obama down to just - 1

Zogby called the results a “notable turnaround” from a July survey he did that showed Obama leading by 46-36.

11 POINTS “notable turnaround” YOU BET!!!!!!!!!

“McCain made signifciant gains at Obama’s expense among some of what had been Obama’s strongest demographic groups,” Zogby said.

His findings:

-Among voters aged 18-29, Obama lost 16 percent and McCain gained 20. Obama still leads, 49-38;

The clearasil commandos are bailing as well.

-Among women, McCain gained 10 percentage points. Obama now leads 43-38; No rat can win with just a 5 point lead with women.

-Among independents, Obama lost an 11 point lead. They're now tied; Here we go!

-Among Democrats, Obama’s support dropped from 83 percent to 74 percent; NO CADIDATE OF EITHER PARTY CAN WIN WITH 83% NOW HE IS DOWN TO 74% Good night dumbo!

-Among Catholics, Obama lost the 11 point lead he had in July and now trails McCain by 15.

THIS MEANS A 26% drop. Why? The “let abortion survivors starve and dehydrate until they die” issue. It will force his Catholic numbers below 40%. = DOA!!!!!

The final stroke is that these were the responses of 1000 LIKELY VOTERS! and there is still the bradley factor.

He is for just leaving to die any babies who survive abortions. Even Catholics who might wrestle with notions of imposing "religion" on others (not my position or argument)recoil in utter horror at this brutal and vicious inhumanity.

BHO will “adjust” his position on this issue soon. You can bet his finger is in the air even as we discuss this. It will be a ploy and he will revert to form if elected but, hey, he is a politician, right?
