Newly discovered documents from the Illinois state archives prove Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has lied about his opposition to legislation requiring health officials to provide care to babies who survived abortion as an Illinois state senator.
Obama has claimed again and again he would have supported his state’s version of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act if it included language to protect abortion rights guaranteed by Roe v. Wade and viciously attacked conservative opponents who suggested otherwise. Now there’s documentation showing Obama did vote against a version of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act that contained language to protect abortion rights identical to the bill that passed 98-0 in the U.S. Senate.
“We have a smoking gun committee report,” the National Right to Life Committee’s Legislative Counsel Susan Muskett said. NRLC posted the unearthed documents from the Illinois senate archives Monday.
There’s been much confusion about Obama’s work on this bill, largely due to the Illinois Senate’s method of marking the bill as “held” in the Health and Human Services Committee, when in fact archived reports show it was killed by a 6-4 party line vote. As Chairman of that committee Obama voted in the majority. NCLR has the committee action report of that vote.
The 6-4 vote tally is included in the right hand column of the table. Just before the committee roll call vote was held to kill the bill, however, senators voted to amend the state’s version Born Alive Infant Protection Act to include a “neutrality clause.” That clause was copied from the federal version of the law and was the very language Obama has claimed would have allowed him to support the bill. The amendment passed the committee 10-0 and that vote is recorded in column on the left side of the table.

In essence, Obama voted to successfully amend the bill in a way Obama has said would have enabled him to support it, before he voted against it.
Conservative journalist David Freddoso said these documents are “absolute proof” Obama has distorted his position on the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. In his new book, “The Case Against Barack Obama” Freddoso painstakingly documented Obama’s votes and committee work against the bill.
“He said he would have voted for that bill if it had been like the federal bill when in fact he voted against it when it was like the federal bill,” Freddoso said. “So he’s been lying about it the whole time.”
Muskett agreed. “He needs to come clean and admit he voted to deny protection to born alive babies who survived an abortion,” she told Townhall in a phone interview.
Not only has Obama distorted his record, but his campaign has viciously attacked critics who accurately described his record.
On June 30, 2008 his campaign accused talk radio host Bill Bennett of making “outright false statements” and smearing Obama on CNN because Bennett said Obama supported a bill that even NARAL Pro-Choice America would not oppose. A “Fact Check” document was published on Obama’s presidential website “on CNN and Bennet’s [sic] Inaccurate Claim That IL ‘Born Alive’ Legislation Obama Opposed Was the Same as Federal Legislation He Supported.”
Maybe O’bummer can lose all 57 states ???

Sadly, democrat voters don’t care. Democrat voters consider lying by their politicians as political savvy, empowering for democrat values. Murdering the alive unborn or the just born alive is sadly now a democrat empowerment point.
That is the absolute wrong thing to express! ... It is too bad that we the people have not rejected such dead-soul men like Obama. THAT is the essence of our predicament, God has given the rain on the just and unjust, but we have not had the good sense to be revolted in great enough numbers by the Obamessiah.

I know that the Democrat leadership is a group of pretty radical leftists, but I also know that there are still several people who self-identify as Democrats who dislike what is happening to their party and will not vote for Obama....precisely because he is so radical.
Without millions of democrat voters those radical leaders wouldn’t be in Congress. Sorry to say this, but our nation is suffering a spiritual disease, hallmarked by the indifference to slaughtering of millions of alive unborn children, the wider and wider dissimination of corrosive pornography, and the smiling acceptance of lying and cheating politicians. And the disease is not isolated to only democrats, as a few recent degenrate Republican representatives have proven. But the democrat party maintains their empowerment via support for even the most radical abortion preactices, and defend caught thieves (Jefferson of LA; Toricelli of NJ; etc) and accept funds from compnaies and individuals making millions on the trafficking of fetal body parts and the abortuaries to provide same. The democrat party slipped from being a criminal enterprise to openly serving demonic things like partial birth abortion, and in Obama’s case supporting the evil practice of allowing survivors of abortion to die without comfort or treatment! Evil has a home in the democrap party and the millions of democrat voters sustain it regardless of whether they claim to be catholics or other pseudo-christians (and yes, I didn’t capitalize catholic for these people are not Catholics and probably broke Pope John Paul’s heart).
You were right not to capitalize the word “Catholic” if it refers to one who supports abortion. I am appalled at the recent complete defection of Doug Kimiec. HOW he can support Obama, who is pro-infanticide....I simply CANNOT fathom.
I still believe there are some Democrats who are ignorant and not thinking long-term, who are shallow in their faith, but who are not radical. They will vote for Obama and you are correct that they probably will continue following wolves in sheeps’ clothing... until they have a real spiritual awakening.....or are led to utter destruction.
I am sure that Pope JP II weeps for them...as do Mary and Jesus Himself....but all are interceeding.....and graces are flowing to those who have ears to hear....and pliant hearts.
The Mother of Our Lord must have a most beautiful soul and spirit. I cannot fathom the pain it must cause to Her when she sees the horrific rejection of children in the womb, given Her astonishing acquiescence to the Will of God to give Her womb a shelter for Our Lord!
We are taught through scriptures that there will come a day when we will have no sorrow and will see no evil thing. But that day has not arrived and I believe Mary The Mother of Our Lord sees the horrible truth as it unfolds around the world, and especially in Catholic households. The truth of our spiritual disease state must crush Her courageous Heart, daily.
That such a Mother shares the heartbreak is sad and yet comforting when the soul awakens. Do I worship Mary? Never. She would never want that. Do I hold her in great esteem? Eternally. She IS the Mother of Our Lord, the Mother of My Lord. How can we not be grateful for such a humble, submitted soul and spirit that God saw so aligned that He chose Her to Mother Our Lord and Savior, God's incarnation among us?

on your post: Just one note for clarity. The Catholic Church has never taught or even proposed the idea of worshiping Mary. It does teach that Jesus is as much Mary's Lord and Savior as He is ours. Mary herself worships Jesus and the Triune God. Just as friends and relatives petition one another for prayers, we petition Mary because as the Mother of our Lord we realize she is closest to him; and no Good Son ignores His mother.
I mentioned ‘worship of Mary’ on purpose since it shows up so many times as a specious accusation toward Catholics relating to The Mother of Our Lord.
