Did Barack "Spread the Wealth" Obama Just Blow the Election?
usnews.com ^ | October 16, 2008 | James Pethokoukis

No. Really. You're kidding me. Barack Obama actually told that Joe the Plumber guy that he wants to "spread the wealth around." What, did Obama just get done reading the Wikipedia entry on Huey "Share the Wealth" Long or something? Was he somehow channeling that left-wing populist from the Depression? Talk about playing into the most extreme stereotype of your party, that it is infested with socialists.

A while back I chatted with a University of Chicago professor who was a frequent lunch companion of Obama's. This professor said that Obama was as close to a full-out Marxist as anyone who has ever run for president of the United States.

Well I take it one step further. I said to this woman at a party, “He’s a marxist.”
She turned right around and walked away without saying a word.

I knew her husband was somewhat soft, but this lady confirmed to me there are many in this country who will support radicalism and the end of freedom.

This has happened in history: Germany, Russia, etc.

The left is manipulating the middle class by creating confusion and division. They hate the middle class, but the poor have little power. If the left can create enough social discord among the middle class, those people will cry out for a savior. They'll be so desperate, be that savior God or the devil, they will accept him.

RE: “SPREADING THE WEALTH AROUND”

and: “Whenever I hear this I think of the political cronies in the Soviet system who all had their dachas in the countryside and whose wives shopped in Paris while the rest of the country waited for yet another five year plan to provide them with simple necessities.”

* * * *

Precisely! I visited the old Soviet Union in ‘76 and ‘85. 1976 was a real eye-opener. By ‘85 Gorbachev had just taken power and things were actually opening up a bit.

The 1976 trip was pretty horrifying — NO choices in anything for those (Moscow and Leningrad) residents. If you wanted green beans, you bought USSR green beans in the govt. markets. Lenin’s picture stared down at you in the pathetic excuses for clothing stores as you picked through hideously flawed garments.

We were told that everyone had a job, but that a taxi driver earned the same as a surgeon! Anyone wonder why the higher ups in USSR government left the country for THEIR OWN care?

I tell you, it was all horrifying. No quality control in anything, people moved about like the walking dead, seriously. NO motivation to do well, people living in shared-family government apartments, shoddy autos and trucks everywhere, only two government brands, and wait lists for years to get them. Phone service amazingly bad, and again, a year’s wait to get a phone.

Want more? So many memories of those trips come flooding back. I became interested in all of this and wanted to see the “iron curtain” countries for myself after having grown up hearing about Communism from teachers in — hold onto your hats — LA Unified Schools. In sixth grade I had a great teacher who warned of Kruschev and his “We will bury you” speech and I never forgot it.

Upshot is that we do NOT want this type of regime in this country. We wouldn’t get it immediately with an Obama and his cohorts, but it would creep in — we are already well on the way, re universal health care, “sharing the wealth,” government intervention into all the banks, et al.

And so many in this country just don’t get it or care. I’m glad I’m not so young anymore.

This election will be, as much as anything, a referendum on the effectiveness of “public education” over the past thirty years versus the strength of the traditional American family.

I’m praying that the dems (read communists) have played their card four years too early. If, by God’s grace, 0bama is defeated we will have in DC a real American family, complete with challenges and how to overcome them, who will serve as an example of what the true American spirit can be.

Four years may be enough time to reverse the morally downward spiral our Country has been in since early 90’s.

I don’t know about the election but he’s been accused of blowing other things. ;^)

The problem is half of Americans think socialism sounds like a good thing.

Which is exactly what the Brits thought when they kicked out the hero Churchill and the conservative party after WWII.

The Brits at the time wanted their National Health Care. They got it. Now they can't get rid of it.

“The problem is half of Americans think socialism sounds like a good thing.”

“Bullseye. THE fundamental problem in our country today.”

It is a fundamental problem because people without principles can get swayed by pandering. Obama promises a free lunch.
Oh, and the rich will pay not you. ... yeah right.

BUT, the blog is right “SPREAD THE WEALTH” is more than pandering. It’s up the ‘paying taxes is patriotic” BS. It is saying higher taxes are good, not just as a way to raise money but a way to redistribute wealth.

All Americans should be appalled and most Americans are opposed - if it raised in the right way: Taxes for economic growth versus marxist redistribution.

WE NEED TO POINT OUT THAT OBAMA’S MIDDLE CLASS TAX CUT IS A FRAUD. IT’S A REDISTRIBUTION SCHEME.

You are probably about right and it really is strange! Very few people think cancer sounds like a good thing and the survival rate for people with cancer is much higher than the survival rate for countries afflicted by long term socialism!

“Yep: it still shocks me but after teaching political science for 47 yrs. and watching colleagues brainwashing kids on college campuses throughout,”

How can we stop this? How can we fight the brainwashing?

This election will be, as much as anything, a referendum on the effectiveness of “public education” over the past thirty years versus the strength of the traditional American family.

The Goals 2000 program, or Outcome based education, is a program designed to change society through the minds of the children. It was sold in the name of " creating peace", but but is being used by the left as a socialist indoctrination course instead. All the students who have graduated since 2000 have gone through the entire program - starting in kindergarten and ending in 12th grade.

(Academics have been put on the back burner until the socialist revolution has taken hold. That's why the students can't read or write.)

It remains startling to me just how many people in America actually believe that the Gov’t owes them a living, or anything for that matter. It’s embarrassing that there are so many people that think that way. Hussein Obama’s ‘alleged tax cut’ is a clear re-distribution of wealth that would be going to people who presently pay NO taxes what-so-ever. Ugh!!!

“The problem is half of Americans think socialism sounds like a good thing.”

History has been removed from academia, and social studies has taken it's place. Those who don't know history are bound to repeat it, and that's exactly what the left is counting on.
The public school students are being taught socialism. Those students have grown up to become voters.

Problem is, even if only 42% of the country wants socialism, the other 12% of ACORN and other Dem fraud will steal the rest.
