KC Star chosen as it has at least one alleged fact closer to the truth. Most media mis-report $34,000 rather than $43,200. Nobody mentions this excludes penalties which the Treasury Secretary will be able to waive for himself.

Hey, we don’t have to follow laws anymore. That’s just old fashioned, the new thing is to ignore taxes, ignore the people, do what you want, and get rewarded for it by a bunch of ignorant voters.

The 2 major components of trust are reliance and risk. We follow people in leadership only if we feel we can rely on them under conditions of risk. Right now there is NO ONE we trust in government...certainly not this guy - but it also reflects heavily on the guy who nominated him.

That’s only two years...the other three he gets to skate.

If this guy is confirmed, it sure sounds to me like we can all “forget” to pay our taxes. After all it was Harry Reid who told a reporter that we have a “VOLUNTARY” tax system.

Senate Democrats tried to brush aside the last-minute complication as a minor bump on an otherwise smooth path to confirmation...That's because they all cheat on their taxes too.

Does this mean I can skip my 4Q tax filings until I am nominated to the Cabinet? Money is a bit tight and I could use a “hiccup”...

they nailed him for two years of non-reporting, and he paid these a while back. It wasn’t until Nov 08 (Cabinet position looming) that he “remembered” to take care of the other years with the exact same problem...

This should completely disqualify this loser. In most situations it would, but we are talking about Dems.
If this was a Republican, the news of the tax evasion would have been the lead story on the news for days and he would have been pressured like Richardson to withdraw in disgrace. Unfortunately, this qualifies him more in the 0bama cabinet.

I think the American people still approve of this choice because most them pay relatively little in federal income taxes anyway. It’s the popular payroll and sales taxes that hit them, and they can’t figure it out.

I’d like to see the penalties on that much in taxes from 2001 - 2004. At the high penalty rate the IRS charges that could be a big number. Our treasury secretary is going to be a tax dodger. Is this the “change” they wanted? Ugh!
