Jesus Fish/Darwin Fish

--snip--

Atheists use their Darwin fish to protest against the Christian faith. That they use evolution to counter biblical faith shows how foundational the issue of origins is to the gospel, and that church leaders who dismiss it as a ‘side issue’ have their heads in the sand...

Are you saying then that the genetic variations that allow for adaptation, combined with the environment that forces the adaptation are not from blind chance?

“And I’ve been to someone’s house that had a Koran and a Bible on the shelf next to each other.

Yes, there are some confused people out there.”

—I don’t think it’s strange for someone to have a Koran and Bible (I do) cause simply having a book isn’t a declaration of being of some religion or ideology, as the Jesus fish is meant to convey.

People (including many Christians) have the Darwin fish because they find it funny, satirical, or because of the humorous way it can rile up some people (I really didn’t realize the extent it could do so until this thread).

The people that are confused are those that think the Darwin fish is a protest symbol, or that think that evolution is “targeting” Christianity when many or most Christians are evolutionists (and vice versa).

So they mock Christians. So what? It’s a free country.

As well:

Mt. 10:34-36 “Think not that I am come to send peace on the earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.”

InMt. 11:21-24 Jesus rebuked severely, and bitterly, the people of the cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum, when he pronounced Woe upon them.
In Mt. 12:33-37 Jesus Rebukes the people who were Pharisees, the church people of that day, with words that you would find very objectionable today, when Jesus called them Vipers, (snakes) and that they are Evil, then proceeded to tell them why they were evil.

In Mt. 12:38-39 Jesus calls the Scribes that he is speaking to, Evil, and Adulterous people.

In Mt. 15:1-9 and Mk 7:1-13 Jesus calls the Scribes and Pharisees Hypocrites who are teaching wrong man made doctrines.

In Mt. 16:4 Jesus tells the Pharisees and Sadducees that they are Wicked and Adulterous
In Mt. 16:6-11 Jesus warns the Apostles to look out for and to stay away from the false Doctrines being taught by the Pharisees and Sadducees

In Mt. 16:22-23 Jesus Rebukes his friend Peter for speaking what was Not of God.

In Mt. 21:12-13 Jesus showed his Love of God when he drove the money changers and those who made the Temple a place of business, a place to make a prophet out of those who had come to worship God.

In Mt. 23:13-36 Jesus pronounces seven Woes against the Pharisees and Scribes, again calling them Hypocrites, calling them blind guides, calling them fools. Calls them down for trying to look good and righteous while they are rotten on the inside.

http://www.barr-family.com/godsword/the-love-of-jesus.htm

‘Love’ doesn’t simply turn a blind eye to wickedness- it calls it out in the hopes that hte wicked will come to understand their sin and repent before it’s too late- It would be an act of un-love to pretend wicked people are ‘good people who are simply a little misguided’- they are NOT- their hearts are set agaisnt God, their creator, and hteir wickedness is on full display for all to see. Let them have their days of protest- let them mock, because life on earth is as close to heaven as they will ever experience IF they do not change hteir ways, and eternity for htem will be harsh and eternal- never ending.

I do NOT wish htem to continue in their ways, nor to suffer eternal damnation- but it is apparent they have set hteir hearts to continue in it

All right. What species have evolved to another species in the last 50 years? Since Darwin? What is your proof? Source?

Given the timeframes involved in evolution, you're very unlikely to see new species arise from others in 150 years.

What is the missing link for ‘man’? Proof? Source?

Missing link between humans and what?

While I don’t deny that God could set evolution in motion, I don’t ascribe the the presupposition that Darwin’s theory is anything more than a theory.

Well, seeing as it's called the theory of evolution, of course it's a theory. What do you expect it to be?

Isaiah 40:28
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Romans 1:25
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Yeah- it sure would- however- warning people of their sin is not cruel- keeping silent and turnign a blind eye, so that hte person never udnerstands their sin is however a cruel thing because that person is bound for an eternity of suffering

NOT Warning a child not to touch a hot stove because you’re afraid you might offend their delicate sense of self, is an act of cruelty when you KNOW the stove is hot and coudl harm that child.

Christ is giving a warnign to all that He is coming back to purge this world of sin- He is giving FAIR warnign to one and all when He states: Mt.

Is Christ being ‘cruel’ here? Has He not informed peopl;e BEFORE His return what He intends to do? Shall we just cut out all Christ’s and God’s and the Apostles and Prophet’s warnings in advance because it might offend people’s delicate sensibilities?

The left is instinctively aware of the their true enemies. And Christianity tops the list.

“So you think the Temple of Darwin promoters just picked the fish symbol out of the blue?”

—Of course not. It’s a satire, or imitation, of the common Jesus fish symbol.

Of course not. What have I posted that would lead you to think that?

That question aside, I do believe that God allows his Creation to run “amok”, as in the case of fallen humans, in order to so that we can have Free Will.

It certainly is a free country, unless you want to learn about something other than evolution in biology class. Then, it’s a theocracy.

I’m just amused at these self-absorbed, self-appointed hall monitors of creation, making a bigoted mockery of Christianity with a mock quadruped fish that has never existed, all the while believing themselves morally and intellectually superior, displayed by means of a reactionary little sticker, and a ripped off one at that.

It’s really some sort of useless mating display, right? Has to be. Sort of like baboons’ butts turning bright red when they’r receptive?

That’s the only logical explanation. Mating and tribalism. No one outside the tribe.

Mutations are random. But natural selection -- which favors and promotes certain genes -- is inherently non-random. Rabbits don't get faster because of dumb luck. They get faster because slower rabbits get eaten and don't survive to reproduce.

OK, but 2/12 mmarked the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth.

“What is the missing link for ‘man’? Proof? Source?”

Missing link between humans and what? ‘Apes’/Homo erectus, etc.

“While I don’t deny that God could set evolution in motion, I don’t ascribe the the presupposition that Darwin’s theory is anything more than a theory.”

“Well, seeing as it’s called the theory of evolution, of course it’s a theory. What do you expect it to be?”

I have tome to expect it to be Dogma in scientific circles, absent specific and incontrovertible proof. The dismissal of those who ascribe to a Biblical worldview by academicians reminds me of the original lecture in the movie ‘Stargate’ in which the character of Daniel Jackson was met with hostility and personal attacks. Debate on point is a non-starter for evolutionists and Christians/Jews. However, that people who believe so strongly in evolution without incontrovertible proof in the face of scientific practice and strictness of proof makes the adoration of evolution more religion than science.

But there isn’t much question what it means. Not just “I’m an atheist/agnostic evolutionist,” but “My belief supplants and mocks your belief.”

I agree there's some (gentle) mocking going on, but I think that assuming everyone with a Darwin fish is an atheist or agnostic--or assuming every evolutionist is--is a stretch.

If God ‘set evolution in motion (and we’re talking here about macroevolution- NOT Microevolution) then the bible is a lie because htere most certainly would have been death, disease, and destruction and bloodshed before the fall of man- but hte bible tells us otherwise- these things came AFTER the fall of man and was a result of man’s sin- Before hte fall, there was no death of the spirit nor body- but IF evolution were true, there would have had to be death of hte body before hte fall- either that or you had every single step of species surviving for millions/billions of years until man fell- and you’d have every single stepwise random morphing alive for all those years- eithwer that or the bible lied to us about death only happening AFTER man’s fall, and Christ really died for nothing because sin had already entered the world millions/billions of years before Man, through the animals, and the bible stating that through man sin and death entered hte world is simply not true then?

I have never seen where some has made the effort to purchase and install on their car a Darwin hate symbol attacking the Jewish or the Islamic faiths. That's because a fish with legs fits the joke! A Star of David or a crescent with legs wouldn't make any sense.

And "Darwin hate symbol"? Take a little air out of your sense of persecution and use it to pump up your sense of humor.
