I assume this issue, of a Catholic funeral, must have been taken up with Kennedy before his death. Personally, I would prefer that he not be given the honor of a Mass from the Catholic Church, but that’s not for me to say.
I think this will be put to use against Catholics and I think it sends a wrong message to our young people.

The generalization is too sweeping. The Catholic Church has not changed its position, nor will it just to accommodate the funeral of a sinner. The responsibility lies with the archdiocese of Boston. And, if Kennedy went to confession and confessed his sins, received absolution and communion, he died in a state of grace, and would be entitled to a Catholic funeral Mass.

With nary a word on the diddling of little boys over the centuries, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for a holy smack-down of Teddy during his funeral .

But the Glamour of the Kennedys seduces the Bushes. They long to be accepted into the circle. Laura so wishes to be embraced by the Irish TRASH. They hold honest middle-class conservatives in contempt....those poor white trash. Don't ask me anymore to contribute to any libraries for W, Laura. I know you wouldn't sit down at a table with the likes of me.

I agree. I picture Mother Theresa giving her speech at the UN (I think that’s where it was) wherein this tiny lady passionately defended the unborn. Then I picture the forthcoming funeral circus at which a lineup of so-called Catholics will take communion, including Pelousi, Biden, all the Kennedys and so on.
And the circus will include a plethora of robed and adorned priests, Bishops and Cardinals.
I was raised and educated Catholic and I recall being taught about the subject of scandal. Apparently it has been forgotten as a teaching of the ‘Mother Church’.
I’m glad I’m no longer Catholic and participate in a church that steadfastly defends the life of the unborn.
This is true. We are all delivered to the mercy of God and we pray at Mass, “look not on my sins, but on the faith of thy Holy Church” and faith shared by saints, and holy men and women of orders in churches,convents and monasteries is solid as the rock of Gibraltar.

I would think that part of the penance for absolution would include, since he was very public with his views, would be to renounce them publicly. Being a Catholic for all these years, anything less would be heresy, IMHO.
I for one, will loose an awful lot of respect for my Church if theu honer him...
