(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Three-in-ten Americans think their current head of state was not born in the United States, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies. 70 per cent of respondents believe Barack Obama was born in the U.S., while 30 per cent do not.
While only 13 per cent of Democratic Party supporters believe Obama was not born in the U.S., the proportion rises to 25 per cent among Independents and 51 per cent among Republican Party backers.
In American elections, candidates require 270 votes in the Electoral College to win the White House. In November 2008, Democratic nominee Obama secured a majority of electoral votes, defeating Republican candidate John McCain. In January, Obama became the first African American president in U.S. history.
Article II of the U.S. Constitution establishes that only "natural born" American citizens are eligible to become presidents.
Last year, the Obama campaign team released a Certification of Live Birth, which states that Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Aug. 4, 1961. The State of Hawaii only allows for the release of an original birth certificate under "extenuating circumstances."
Earlier this month, former House majority leader Tom Delay discussed his views on Obama’s birth, saying, "Why wouldn’t the president of the United States show the American people his birth certificate? You have to show a birth certificate to play Little League baseball. It’s a question that should be answered. It’s in the Constitution that you have to be a natural born citizen of the United States to be president."

That may actually be unfair to the drunken womanizer. Records show that BHO Jr's mother was in Seattle just weeks after his birth, and stayed there until Senior left Hawaii for Haavard. It's a question of who left who.
I have the same question with regards to my paternal grandparents. Never new grandpa, barely knew grandma since the cancer took her when she was 55 and I was 4 or 5. But the story is that they were living in Montana (where my Dad was born) and one day in the late '20s, she showed up at the train station in her home town, with 3 kids under 4 in tow. Kids who only saw their father a couple of times after that in their whole lives.
Even stranger that you believe Obama can prove his natural-born Citizenship simply by virtue of place of birth.
Same as now, being dismissed in various courts for techincal reasons. Standing, ripeness, political question. Whatever the judge could come up with that didn't sound too bad.
Let me begin by saying that I know that I will not be able to convince you that the phrase “natural-born citizen” as used in Article II, section 1, clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution refers, as I strongly believe, to a person that is a U.S. citizen at birth according to the laws in place when he was born, and that a person can be a natural-born citizen of the U.S. irrespective of his parents’ citizenship status. While I believe that it is incorrect to interpret the Constitution in the way that you do, it is certainly your right to do so, and I consider your theory far more plausible than many theories that the U.S. Supreme Court has ended up endorsing. I also know that while I could show you law journal articles on the subject written long before Obama even thought about running for president that argue that the prevailing interpretation has always excluded such a niggardly interpretation of Article II, section 1, clause 5, you would surely be able to show me well reasoned articles pointing in the opposite direction. So, on that point, I think that we should agree to disagree.
That being said, please note that if you take the position that a person that is a U.S. citizen at birth but one of whose parents was not a U.S. citizen when such person was born is not a natural-born citizen of the U.S. that it would mean that it was unconstitutional when the Republican Party nominated Chester Arthur for VP, when the Electoral College elected him VP, when he was sworn in as VP, and when he was sworn in as President upon the death of James Garfield.
Chester Arthur’s father was a British subject from Northern Ireland that did not become a naturalized U.s. citizen until Chester Arthur was around 14 years old. While Arthur’s political opponents in the 1880 election did question whether Arthur was a natural-born citizen, they did so based on the theory that Arthur had been born not in northern Vermont, but just across the border in Canada, and that under the laws at the time of Arthur’s birth a person born in Canada whose father was not a U.S. citizen was not a citizen at birth irrespective of his mother’s citizen status. Had Americans in 1880 believed that a person born in the U.S. to an American mother but whose father was a foreign subject would not be deemed a natural-born citizen you can be certain that it would have been shouted from the rooftops and that Arthur’s political opponents would not have wasted time trying to prove (unsuccessfully) that Arthur was born in Canada.
BTW, the mothers of Woodrow Wilson and Herbert Hoover were from Scotland and Canada, respectively, but they quite possibly had become naturalized U.S. citizens when their presidential son was born, so those probably aren’t additional counterexamples.
I hope you take this constructive criticism to your theory in the spirit in which it was offered.
It makes you wonder if Ms. Anita Dunn the Maoist and her Maoist/Marxist husband are actually running the show now. After all, Mr. Bob Bauer(Anita’s husband) is bound to know at least some of the truth surrounding Obama’s eligibility and the other damning things hidden in his hidden records(since he is Obama’s attorney). It sounds like Beck got a tip today that Bauer is in for a very big ‘promotion’ of some kind. Let’s pray it is not a seat on the Supreme Court..but brace yourself for it. I fear that is what is coming down the pike. There are some very evil forces at work in our country right now.
