Palin book tour draws massive Michigan crowd
Washington Times ^ | 11/18/2009 | Andrea Billups

Talk about a political rock star.

A crowd estimated at more than 1,500 already had lined up by mid-morning at a Grand Rapids, Mich., bookstore in advance of a 6 p.m. book signing by 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, whose book "Going Rogue" has already become a runaway bestseller -- one day after its release.

Die-hard fans of the former Alaska governor traveled from all over the state and began setting up outside a Barnes & Noble store in the city's Woodland Mall at around 9 p.m. last night, hunkering down in 30-degree overnight temperatures to camp out nearly a day ahead of Mrs. Palin's arrival.

The book store, located in the city's Kentwood area, had braced for massive crowds and handed out wristbands starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday on a first-come basis today for those hoping to see Mrs. Palin, who is slated to arrive by tour bus later this evening for a three-hour signing. Her book has sparked much interest and heavy dissection by media and political types as they feast on details from Mrs. Palin's early life and her personal account of her role in the 2008 presidential election.

Barnes & Noble spokeswoman Maddie Hjulstrom said the store has given out a limited number of wristbands based on how many books they think Mrs. Palin can reasonably sign, but said they have also created a standby line for those hoping that she will stay on and continue to sign for overflow fans, who she said are energized by her appearance.

"She has had a good history in Grand Rapids and the town is very excited to have her and to have this as the start of her book tour, " Ms. Hjulstrom said.

I can’t stomach reading crap from libs. It’s the same usual BS comments. They know Obama is finished. I hope he is gone before 2012 so that we can still save this country. Poor libs, it wasn’t supposed to be this way was it..the most powerful woman in America being a Conservative..it just kills them

The immediate response when confronted with ANYTHING about Levi should be: Let me ask you something...Who is Gennifer Flowers?

Who is Larry Sinclair? would be my choice.

The Chinese clipped his wings. The Chinese people barely knew he was there. They cleared the tourists just for him. He sure looks fine with his Members Only jacket and no boob-belted monstrosity beside him.

I'm quite curious over why Meeshell didn't go on vacation with him this time?

Ya he knows the guy who put it on for Sarah. He took the Father in Law. Thats cool. He will get me great pictures. He saw Bush in Oakland County in Michigan aNDwas at the right side of the podium. When Bush went down to shake hands he was right in front of my Son. He is just blessed that way.

as I was just reading your comment I had just read about how bozo might not run in 2012.

If he does not then we have to take that house and senate back other wise he will get this country so far gone it will take a generation to get us back to normal.

As for the hatred of the loony left then I have neevr seen so much hatred for a woman, a woman which is not PC but a great woman who is a great mother, has values, and can relate to us normal folk and not the elitist DC types or the north east elitist liberals

For Photo op purposes only. However, quite prophetic - he’s all alone on the path ahead!

Sometimes there is news that just makes one feel good. This is one little item that makes up for the deep disgust and sadness at the moronic attacks on Sarah Palin. Certainly, if one does not agree with her- or think she is Presidential or Vice Presidential material, sure go ahead and take what this good woman says and make one's points. Why be so nasty and derogatory?

Ah well, I suppose it is a sort of Cest la vie with others- Such is life and the rotters of the left. My liberal spouse just back from a trip to England opened up the "Junk" mail. There is a swipe card for yours truly. It is from Chapters/Indigo books. Swipe it and it is worth "up to $5000".

I needed the shove to get down to Indigo's off shoot - Coles of Canada. Coles leery on the front book shelves with things Conservative, but will always get those books on order. Ok, a bit of a screed, but faithfully this evening I will order the book by Sarah Palin.

We, adjacent to Northern Michigan and they of course have been absolutely blessed with balmy sunny weather and at 48 degrees in the day. No snow- yet. Every day a bonus.

Well done Grand Rapids.
